1. Looking into maybe buying this bass off a bloke locally It is a Marlin Sidewinder. Was wondering if it is worth a punt and how much they are realistically worth? Anyone got any info or experience? I am looking for something as a bass for punk rather than my Sei or Dingwall. If I went for this I would upgrade the pickups at some point and maybe the electronics but the overall quality is my concern. One of my other options is the PJ Fenderalike in the for sale section, looks nicer but will cost me a bit more and to be honest I really shouldnt be spending at all. help appreciated Dan
2. I love 'Brand New Cadillac' by the Clash for simplicity and fun
3. Nuclear Rabbit are great, suitably bonkers for my tastes. Shows Jean is more than just the Mario theme.
4. ^I thought of that, the appeal of two compacts, or even one due to the efficiency (but that doesnt looks so cool), is that I dont drive and they are nice and small so I can chuck them in a mates car or a taxi easily. If I get a well paid placement for the summer think I will be investing.
5. the more i look the more two compacts under my Fafner would be the sexiest idea ever...that or 4 of them shame I am poor and not gigging at the moment.
6. Dont have those but I do have a Boss RC20XL I would be willing to part with
7. ^try and ACG pre. my Sei with ACG02 pre into my Fafner is like pure audio sex!
8. clank noise? how do you play with your fingers if you only get a clanky sound?

My pair...

ooo I like the five, where do you live and do you lock the doors?
11. rubber tubing is what Dingwall use, works well
12.
As an alternative solution to the original problem (carting round a heavy combo) - have you thought about buying a sack cart or similar? I think it's a great way to have 'termporary' wheels for moving an amp around and you could push it around with your bass on your back or strapped to it in some way. A much cheaper solution than buying another amp too.
Tesco extra I was in yesterday had sack trolleys for 15 or 16 quid, not a bad cheep solution
13. this is the setup i use at practice, fan-bloody-tastic!
14. ^did that, unit is now sitting near the top and fits quite well, works great cause I aint keeping anything else in the rack
15. it is a gator rack and an EBS fafner, I am doing it on its end so the amp wont need supported cos gravity aint screwing the alignment. I think it is just tolerance issues.
16. got one, looks like you are right about the lower space, but I bought one bigger so it is ok, just might not be able to fit a tuner in above my amp. New problem: cant for the life of me get all 4 screws to line up, 2 fine, third with a little trouble but I cannot get a fourth in, I am at the point of almost stripping screws, Obviously 3 will hold my amp but is there something I am doing wrong to explain my in ability to screw all four in
17. not gigged it properly yet but love my Fafner for metal, beefy yet clear and a great tube growl.
18. used the Glasgow and Edinburgh branches, great service from both. to much gear though, I'm GAS'n within seconds of walking in
19. very dab, still browsing for cheaper though (scabby student I am) Missed one on ebay because I dozed off, went for £50, doh!
20. looking to buy 3 or 4U roller rack; one of the two wheeled, extendable handle, suitcase type. It is to put my fafner in so I can wheel it to and from the tube station. Where is the best (and cheapest) place to buy something like this?
