what amp
cheers for that folks, like the fact that lm800 isn't made in china! tried lm3,that sounded good but want more headroom.....will tone be similar?to lm800
It is quicker than the lmiii but still retains a lot of the warmth, with ridiculous headroom. Still no mute! I am in Leicester if you want to have a go on mine.

Depends on the bass, my Warwick took about 2 months, stingray 5 about a month, sandberg jj5 a couple of days!

    what amp

Shuttle 9.2 or lm800, the Markbass sounds fuller(I have both) gk mb800 might be worth a demo as well. Headroom should not be an issue with any of these amps. I run my lm800 at under quarter volume through a Berg Hd212, plenty left in reserve for larger gigs and the tone is unbelievable!

Mark will sell your bass on a commision sale, he as sold several for me over the last couple of years. He gets a lot of hits on the website so if it is a good bass at the right kind of money it should move fairly quickly.
  5. Sa450 all the way, much purer deeper sound, the tc is very mid focussed and compresses like crazy when pushed above 1/2 volume, that's how tc get that much volume out of 236 watts! Great feature set on the tc don't get me wrong and they are nicely put together, but not for me.
You don't specify a budget, so I'll go the whole hog and suggest that you keep your amp and look at the Bergantino CN212 when BassDIrect get them in next month. It would make an amazing rig with your amp and could be the last cab you buy.
+1, nothing wrong with that head and not a lot to gain by swapping it unless you run at 8ohm a lot in which case it does struggle for power. Cn212 will take the power and will transform your sound
  7.
Don't discount the TT heads either. They partner really well with MB cabs. I tried one with an MB 4x10 last week and it sounded really nice. Personally I prefer it to both the LM and F1 / F500's. For a warmer sound I'd go for an Aguilar TH500 over all of these three - worth auditioning one of these as well.
I did an a/b test last week with the tone hammer and my Lm800, in comparison the th500 felt cheap and tacky, the sound was ok but nothing to get over excited about. (Lots of bass and low mid, and not very open sounding in the high end. The Shuttle 9.2 and the RH750 also sounded and felt better, all imho of course!
  8. The F1 is not as warm sounding as the lm amps, it is a little more tight and bright, but either can be eq'd to sound similar to the other. The F1 has the edge on size, its ultimate incarnation is the F500 which has a semi parametric eq. Personally I love my LM800, best of both amps imho. If you like the F1 (now discontinued) you may also like the Genz Shuttle 9.2.....
  9. Steve Amadeo is up there somewhere, great guy, he is on this forum look him up!

  12. Markbass heads always sound amazing with Bergs Set your budget a little higher, save a bit longer, whatever, buy the best and stick with it!
  13.
IF ONLY IT HAD TILT BACK WHEELS IT WOULD BE SOO PERFECT!! Jeez I'm soo lazy these days :-D
I just bought a rocknroller upright cart off thoman, cost me about £30. Has a long foot plate so that you can get it right under the cab. I would still want a cart for a 20 kg cab, so I might as well have the tone I like and stick with the HD212.
  14.
Why does this always happen to me..... Have been trying to decide between barefaced s12t and the hd212, the s12t had it on weight..... And now this!!! Well that's just great now ain't it!
Hd212 is in another league altogether for tone and build quality, I assume the CN212 is as well, but in a very lightweight package!
  15. I played a th500 a few weeks ago, sounded great but felt very cheap, especially the buttons, the streamliner is finished a lot nicer
  16.
I see that the 1x12 is a little bit heavier than Barefaced's Compact 1x15.
Yeah that's the extra tone lol
  17. These cabs are starting to filter through to players in America and are getting some rave reviews, I feel another trip to Warwick looming!
  18. Genz Benz part of fender possibly about to be closed down, fender themselves battling with huge debts....
  19. Nice amp but have to be careful on cab pairing. Much prefer shuttle 9.2 or Markbass amps
  20. I run a Markbass lm800 non tube and it is seriously loud through my HD212, I keep it under control by turning the input gain down a little. It has way more power than I normally need, but is there in reserve if I need to call on it!
Is the cab that agressive or are you just not used to EQing for a cab of that format and that quality.
If you follow the threads on Talkbass you will see that Roger has voiced the cab to be aggressive, this does help them to be heard in a mix, but it can be too much for some users. A little eq can of course go a long way!
  22. The shuttle through those cabs is one of the best matches available
Good to hear that your happy with the Spyder, I could never get to fully understand the EQ section of that amp , and I just seemed to get a good sound straightaway with a Markbass head . It's great to see amp and cab builders getting involved in basschat , I am far more inclined to try new gear from bespoke builders who interact with the general public , so hats off to Roger . After being stuck in the "mud " for many years , Mark at Bassdirect put me onto a great Vanderkley 212 Cab which is great for the big gigs , so I am looking at the ML112 for smaller gigs and rehearsals . Cheers Martin
Very different cabs, the Vanderkleys are very even and pristine sounding, the Baer is very tight in the lows and VERY aggressive in the upper mids. If you like what you have and want a smaller solution the 112 MNT might be a good option. +1 to markbass, great sound set flat, and always sits just right in a busy mix.
  24. I have never played one but a guy that I listen to called Nigel Hendroff uses a starmaker and a duo jet to great effect, they seem to sound quite similar from what I can tell. He is worth looking up on YouTube.

Really pleased that you are loving the cabs, on the amp side of things, Bass Direct have. Staccato 51 at bargain price, it is an amazing match up with those cabs. It has huge low end and a slightly scooped mid, this fits with the tone profile of the cab nicely and is the best match up that I have heard yet. Sounds huge live!
