1. Your speaker cab is haunted by the ghost of Jimmy Saville. If it's not that then I don't know, a jangly noise sounds very strange.
2. I assume it was meant to be a homage to Hendrix kind of thing as he is a big fan, he has a tattoo of Hendrix on his shoulder. I love early Chili Peppers but was bad, and I really don't like saying that.
3. I'm not familiar with the Loudbox but you can put any instrument you like through any amp you like. Whether it'll sound good is another matter, if it sounds good then it is good. As for damaging the amp or speakers, you'll have to use your ears for that, if the speakers are farting with the bass then it's not so good. Basically if it's not distorting in the bad way and it sounds good then go for it.
4. It's just playing behind the beat.........and in front of it, just to the right of it, miles to left of it, around the corner, up the road and hiding behind the dustbins from it, but amazingly never actually on the beat
5. I can never remember any songs we do. Other person: What sort of music do you play? Me: Er, I can't really remember. Cue me looking like a dick. I was once, bizarrely, singing a random song in my head that an audience comment made me think of. While singing along in my head I was thinking why's no one started the next song? Yep, I was supposed to start the next song. Note to self, must pay more attention to our bands music.
6. Firstly, I love this build, right up my street Secondly, does the control plate have to be chromed/silver? I can quite see it painted a gloss aged cream sort of colour, with the warm tones being ever so slightly brown rather than yellow to complement the natural wood. If something else was picked out in the same colour I think it could look ace, much better than a second rate chrome effect. Make a feature of it rather than not being happy with a make do solution. Whatever you decide I still love the build
7. Am I the only one who doesn't like a grippy strap?
8. I used to do this using my Line6 X3, I can't remember the settings but being able to run two signal paths through it meant I could have a clean, punchy bass, and a massively overdriven, crunchy tone together. You can run both tones through different preamps, eqs, amp and speaker sims to get the sound as crisp or muddy as you want. I used to love doing it because the bass sounded huge
9. I used our guitarists floor pedal version last week with my doublebass, it did the G OK, struggled with the D but got there in the end but it couldn't even register the A and E. Hopeless for bass.
10. I've found that everything needs to be exaggerated on stage, a normal/small movement goes unnoticed, the same with facial expression changes. Lighting from above doesn't help either, the usual coloured lights aiming downwards create shadows under the eyes and mouth which can make you look like you're frowning. If you can watch a recording of the band you'd be surprised at how stationary a band can look even when they think they're jigging around.
11. If Dad's criteria is correct then those in the above link will be more than enough, higher wattage and higher colour temperature meaning a whiter light.
12. As others have said, the multi story behind it. I love the Colston Hall, just a nice size venue and you're never too far from the stage. Have a good time
13.
That dancey, funky Spiller tune from c.1998...
Groovejet.
14. Let's have a 90's trip Screaming Trees - Dollar Bill Belly - Feed The Tree Varuca Salt - Seether L7 - Pretend We're Dead Soul Asylum - Runaway Train
15. Controversy alert! To the average Joe, casual listener I'd say these two were one hit wonders. Rush - Spirit of Radio Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart
16.
I don't like basses with another mans penis on them. I think if another mans penis is touching my bass, it makes me less inclined to play it.
Can't say I've ever encountered this problem. Bollocks yes, all the time, but never a penis.
17. Another Girl Another Planet - The Only Ones
18. Flying Lizards - Money The Automatic - Monster Whale - Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe
19. I can see the point. A lot of people listen to the radio in places where running a computer wouldn't work. I have the radio on in the shed at home and the workshop at work, lots of tradesmen listen to the radio on site. We're not all within reach of a computer all day.
20. I can tolerate most things on the right bass but LED markers look awful on any bass. They can make the most beautifully crafted bass look like a cheap Fisher Price toy. Hideous.
21. Voodoo Boomstick!
22. A localish shop has one in stock and I was going to try it out but I have such an unhealthy lust for a Takamine TB10 I haven't wanted to tempt myself with the Aria.
23. I keep reading the title as "Who lives at the Shea Stadium". I don't know Loyd Grossman, who does live in the Shea Stadium?
24. I sort of like that, in a strange way, I think.
25. I used the second channel on my PJB Suitcase for the first time last week as I was using an ABG instead of my usual DB and thought I'd set the second eq for that. I spent ages fiddling with settings, changing leads, changing battery in bass, unplugging and reconnecting everything but no sound. I thought my amp had packed up........ then I unplugged the bass from the amps headphone socket and plugged it in the second input and it was fine
