1. i often look at swapping out my micro head for a small power amp, there seems to be no options out there as small and as powerful as the microheads (ampeg pf800 etc)
2. i had one for ages and found the only way to get a usable sound for me was to run a preamp into the FX return, the only reason i kept it so long was because it was small and loud!!! but plugging your pre into the FX return bypasses the awful preamp and opens up a whole new world of sound
3.
How can you tell whether it has enough juice for your gig?
it has a 3 LED power meter on the unit, ive never let it go down to 1 bar
4. my Pedaltrain volto has been amazing, saved me at gigs with really REALLY limited plug space and from noisy venues. i planned to charge it all the time just in case, but through laziness i barely charge it and its done a fair few gigs.
5. i never really play slap bass and have never attempted to double thumb, but i wish i could play this song! bassline is awesome.
6. i'd go bass -> bdi21 -> effects return so you bypass your amps preamp and use the BDI as your tone
7.
My quickly bodged together set-up for a jam the other day. First time on bass in ages and I sounded incredible!
ibanez session man! love those little guys!
8. Gigrig fits for sure, here's a shot of the underneath of my friends board
9. yo, i live in leeds and have both pedals if you wanna come try them, but my availability is pretty slim as im about to go do a million gigs until the end of the month
10. http://brawlers.bandcamp.com/track/mothers-and-fathers listen to when the bass comes in on that track, its a pretty aggressive tone using just the darkglass vintage microtubes, the bass plays without the guitar on one of the verses too.
11. i have both, and prefer the vintage, the vintage can get quite clanky and aggressive, but i never hear any samples showing that side of it, i use it for a clanky aggressive p bass tone at the moment and its always on. i'd say the b3k is more 'precise' and metallic, and you can coax some insane attack out of it. neither pedals kill your low end either, very full sounding. if you're anywhere near leeds, then you're welcome to come try them out.
12. cream looks awesome in a black tort bass, but then so does the black.
13. best P Bass pickup on the market, i use mine with my darkglass Vintage on all the time and it sounds gnarly and awesome.
14. always add more cabs! i still want something to go along side my barefaced super 15
15. hah! funny you say that because i just sold him one of my BC1s! great bit of gear
16. just put the deposit down on two awesome little boxes from Tom! a lot of mental blending ideas hah.

i reckon it'll just sound the same, since its just the volume being controlled?
18. anyone know the best place to pick up the 30ft bullet cable?
19. tomorrow morning i fly to barcelona to play a gig, they've hired us instruments and backline etc so all im taking is a backpack full of dusty pedals and wires etc. will they think im a terrorist?
20. no covers unless they're for B sides, thats my rule, unless its a prerequisite for a live session or something.
21. i think the pf800 will be exactly what you're after, it gave me the sounds i already loved (and didnt want to lose) but with so much more headroom and peace of mind!
22.
That's what they're saying on Talkbass. The PF-800 has better tone with more authority in each note. I haven't seen any issues reported, but does anyone know if the PF-800 suffers the same problems as the PF-500?
i've had zero problems with my pf800, my pf500 did cut out every now and then (but rarely)
I'd love to know more about how you are finding the PF800. What cabs are you using with it, still a BF S15? What sort of venues do you play? Cheers Geoff
The PF800 is probably nmy favourite amp of all time, ive always been an ampeg fan and this little thing is ridiculous, completely nails that ampeg sound and can get stupendously loud, im still running it with the barefaced S15 and playing venues of varying sizes, small to medium to large and it has never had a problem on stage edit: i recorded my new bands EP using my precision into an old valve ampeg and was shocked how similar it sounded to the PF800, totally nailed it.
