1. got this little email from the builder, if anyone was wondering about the controls
Hi Anthony! Some information: The pedal has two modes of clipping: GAIN1 and GAIN2. GAIN1 - hard GAIN2 - soft Combine different positions of these regulators for different sounds. Do not use for this purpose knob VOLUME !!! Only for setting the same level of the direct signal (OFF) and processed signal (ON) (typically between 10 hours - 2 hours). About tone control. In this model, I used a passive tone control like Marshall JCM 800. Here is very well said about this: http://lutz-haake.de/music/questfortone/classictonestacks.html
also, could anyone forward me Ryans demo of the pedal? i sent him a message but havent heard back
2. im very interested in this, can anyone measure its width? (with jacks if possible)
3. i use a demeter minnie 800d VERY small and light and ive never even had it past halfway
4. Hao rust ride!
5. had to use my palmer DI without any on stage amp or cab the other week as we were told not to bring cabs as they were being provided (which then fell through the day of the festival but only on our stage or something hah) so with my pedal preamps and my palmer DI i got the exact same sound i always get, stage sound wasnt as good (just a single monitor) but i felt at ease knowing the FOH was the same as always, imagine if id just turned up with a big valve head and no way to run it.
6. i havent used mine for ages, im gonna ebay it soon probably, before i do ill load it up and have a fiddle from what i remember, when youre playing one sample, you can move along to the next but i cant remember if it just plays straight after the current one finishes
7.
Here's a short video that shows the buzz that you'll hear if the receiver isn't getting enough volts. Classic Wireless Receiver Alternative Power Supply Requirement
thats exactly the noise chris! ive got all of tomorrow evening to sort it out, i just wonder why my setup failed me only on that festival stage
8. right gig report: i had originally tried to use my smoothhound live at Truck festival a few weeks back, but i was jumping around too much and i un plugged mysef from the bodypack (my own fault, hadnt secured a proper way to keep it on the strap) so i gave it the first proper run at YNOT festival on the friday just gone, but was then ALSO unable to use it because when i tried i was getting some really really loud interference/electrical noise (like an "eeeeeeeeeee") so had to revert to cable, i wasnt getting this noise at ANY practices or any times when playing on my own, so im going to try with a few different power supply configurations and see if i can re create it. everything else has been amazing, the display is clear to read even when mouted to your pedalboard and the range was ace, ridiculous value.
9. sorry i didnt read any of the previous comments so not sure if this way has already been mentioned but in my old band we used a digitech jamman stereo (direct to PA) to play the samples, was easy to save them on (real time play in/loop or save file via PC) and with the bank up/down buttons i could change the samples and still play bass.
10. mine has been great at practices, going to be using it at Y not festival this friday and will properly put it through its paces
11.
One of the guys from gigrig is recommending a timelord to isolate it. Is there a particular reason it needs isolation?
i asked chris at smooth hound and he didnt think it needed it, the gigrig timelord is what they recommended i use for the line6 g30 because of its high current draw (and the line6 needs isolated power otherwise its noisy apparently) but the line6 works fine with my isolator cable (150ma) i guess its just to futureproof, ill be able to let you know how it works with my gigrig
12. yeah with a polarity reversing adaptor should power fine off the generator + distributor, im also going to see how it copes powered from the isolator (which only supplies a max of 150ma isolated)
13. if im grabbing my own polarity reversing adaptor, what is the barrel size required?5.5 x 2.5 or 2.1?
14.
It's already on discount!
Not anymore it isnt, no harm in asking
15. so how about a nice basschat members discount ?
16. well, im totally sold on this, just bought myself a neutrik female adaptor thing in preparation. only had my line6 g30 for a couple weeks too. as soon as the units ship with the polarity flipper thing ill be placing my order
17.
Hi Ant, Typical current draw for the receiver is 150-160mA. The system might well work fine on your 150mA supply. Worst case is around 200mA. The difference is mainly caused by the indicator LEDs - if you have full battery on the transmitter, full signal strength but also very high interference, you would reach this current draw but it should be a pretty unusual situation. If you buy a system and don't like it for any reason, we've got a seven day no quibble return policy where we'll give you a complete refund including return postage.
thanks chris! one other question, does the unit need isolated power? or can it be run off a daisy chain
18. does anyone know if this REALLY uses 250ma? only asking as line6 said something similar but my g30 receiver is running fine on the isolated 150ma output from my gigrig isolator. but the range on this is making me think of switching over
19.
Awesome board, you have the Tarkin fuzz in your custom? My gig rig isolater made it play up in mine was very odd. Tom looking into it, works fine on the distributor.
my fuzz is a tarkin fuzz and an analog chorus ran together, the fuzz pedal runs off the distributor , line6 g30 and the tuner are running from the isolator.
I still can't believe you spray painted those Suncoasts Si
there were too many colours going on before! hah, i like the minimal look now. STEALTH
20. added a gigrig isolator and a line6 g30 wireless to the underside of my board and tweaked a few settings up top, got my all time favourite overdriven bass sound now.
21. as above, if i was heading to glastonbury i'd 100% be going to see Kanye. i'd even go just to watch him.
22. Tom at COG effects, he's your guy. never dealt with someone as enthusiastic, friendly but still pro as f***!
23. after speaking to mark, ive got a bound and block relic'ed jazz bass neck in the pipeline, not traditionally correct as it will have the reverse style tuners, i plan on fixing it to a replica slab precision bass body i purchased from another basschatter to create the ultimate live workhorse
24. what kind of ballpark figure will a limelight bass set me back?
25. yeah ive been seriously eyeing up the retro six10, just dont have the time to be without the mega beast super15, so cant exactly sell it and pick up the retro610 any time soon
