1. This bass has had some serious use. It came to me via the brother of the former owner and after a long time in storage. The body is not in mint condition with lots of wear through the woodstain and some dings and chips, but still looking great. I have fitted a new graphite nut, brand new chrome high-mass bridge (similar design to original), shored up the wiring and added LaBella Deep Talkin' bass strings. This bass sounds fantastic!!! Really lightweight body with a nice slim and fast neck. I considered upgrading the pickups but haven't bothered because it sounds good enough as is. Priced for a quick sale. Not in perfect condition but a nice worn in look, a great bass for a back-up or for a beginner to intermediate player. Would keep it myself but there's not enough space on the guitar stands and I'm tempted for an electric... May consider trade for an electric guitar (six string, not bass) I don't know if this will work but here's a link to a Google pictures thing with a handful of high quality pics... At the moment it's pickup only from st Albans area. I dint have a case to sell it in but will throw in the strap that's shown in the photos. 2. I started out with a tanglewood p copy as my first bass. At some point I had a hohner pj which was just awful. I thought I'd be more of a jazz bass man and owning an MIM Jazz I was almost satisfied... Until I bought an MIJ P 1970 reissue through this forum, with a Steve Harris signature pickup. Playing at home it just sounded ok but at volume and with the Steve Harris Sig strings it is a tone monster. So happy with it for the presence it brings it really is the perfect bass for playing live. I'm no Steve Harris fan but the combo of the pup and strings is very articulate, a big fat sound with a hint of grit to it, very full and never lost under the guitars but not screaming over them either. The fender Japanese neck is lovely , so nicely playable, and the body is reassuringly heavy. How could it be improved? Maybe a big MM pup at the bridge? Not sure if that's just being greedy or not! It's the ideal gigging machine, I wasn't completely sold on it until I used it in rehearsals and now it's love.
3. *NOT EXACTLY WITHDRAWN, JUST SPLIT UP AND RE-PRICED* Very reluctantly circumstances are forcing this sale. I am selling together for a swift transaction my Trace GP7 combo: 1x15" speaker, effects loop, gain control, built in compressor, graphic EQ, 300watt output, side carry handles. The control panel lights up in trace-green when powered. Plus a 2x10 cab with casters to bring this to a 500 watt rig. The power and tone are truly immense. Just last night I was playing jazz and p bass through this with the band and they all loved the sound, it really does add something. I really cannot stress how good the condition is. The speaker cable is brand new too This is collection only from St Albans area. I'll be sad to see it go but needs must. Please PM me for any info.
4.
Sorry to get OT, but Neck Bend & Fretboard Grime is a great name for a band
Like it
5. thanks - backbow was the wording i was looking for!! I can loosen the truss rod to its max and it doesnt seem to be doing much... Don't know if there's any "help" the neck needs to settle. I would guess string tension, so can put an old set of strings on once the bass bridge arrives!
6. Good morning - I recently got hold of a bass that had not received tlc for some time. I'm replacing some parts but generally its a clean up job. There are two issues that I'm struggling to rectify: Fretboard grime - just can't shift it without scratching the rosewood. Thick, black, sticky grime. I've seen it before and managed to clear it with elbow grease and string cleaner but having got a lot off some remains and this is stubborn. Any advice gratefully received. Neck bend - ok, this is going to be hard to describe so please bear with me. For illustrative purposes the " I " represents a nice straight string, the " C " represents a bent neck... My bass looks like this: IC . The truss rod appears to be working and I'm being careful not to overload it with too much tension, but really struggling to get it straight. All my other basses have necks that want to go: CI so this is a new one on me. I have managed to improve it but just cannot get it straight. Again, any advice gratefully received. My level of skill with luthery etc. is slim to none, tools are limited. Thank you
7. Sold an iRig to this gent, he was also kind enough to set up a feedback thread for me. Thank you!
8. That's excellent thanks! Had a bad experience with a cheap power supply in the past, just created noise and my pedals didn't do their whole job. Will look in to your recommendations
9. Please forgive if this has been covered before, I'll try to keep it brief. In old bands I used a multi effect pedal. It retired a while ago and I now own the following individual pedals: tuner, envelope filter, fuzz/ drive, limiter/ enhancer. I want to put these together on a pedal board to achieve better transporting, less set up time, and easy powering. I've been using individual rechargeable batteries which isn't so practical. So, what are my pedal board options? What are their pros and cons? I really don't know enough about this stuff so any help is gratefully received
10. Interesting, I had never really thought of a resonator as an alternative to an electro acoustic... Looks fantastic! We're the upgrades costly?

12. Not bothered about money for these, so if you're in my area (St Albans/ Harpenden) you can have them for nowt, otherwise happy to post at cost: Strap pins, black die cast. Just realised these are off my Kramer bass. Graphite (??) Nut for 4 string bass guitar, right handed. Unused All Parts Fender type bass neck screws. Still in the packet. PM me if interested. Ta
13. Comes boxed and hardly used. This is one of the early and basic versions. Would love to think I could keep and use this but I just know that I won't. And I don't have an iPhone any more so its time to give it a new home. Please PM me if interested. Ta
14. I have a set of un-used black die cast Wilkinson P Bass style tuners ready for a loving home

16. Fender USA P Bass pickups and wiring loom, plus tone and vol pot. Includes the "greasebucket" tone circuit which people may or may not like. Either way, £55 is a good price for the pickups alone. Please send me a PM if interested, first come first served.
17. Bought ages ago for a project, one set of traditional P Bass style tuners in die cast black. Really good quality. All I've done with them is turned the pin upside down, so to speak, to make them left handed instead of right. Dead easy to put back (it was so easy I was able to do it in the first place!!!) Never been screwed into the bass because the headstock was too small. Needs a good home, form an orderly queue by PM pls. Was £30 new; £25 including postage, because I'm feeling generous.
18. Bought one - an excellent condition MIJ P Bass off Patch. Incredibly happy with it and so much better than dealing through eBay or whatever other channel. Desperately trying to sell bits on there though, so far no takers :'(
19.
I've got a 74 Jazz - sounds amazing!....only tweak i'm doing is for a lighter body...the ash weighs too much for regular gigging so got MJT crew in the USA building a period correct body for moi
That's a TWEAK?!?!?!
20. Had to tell Kermit to hop it. Just could not bring myself to get involved having heard how utterly awful they were in the studio, live without re takes and processing would have been a huge embarrassment
21. My mate works in a place where they rent gear to some BIG names but that could be expensive... If possible you could buy something the producer would approve of (p bass perhaps??) second hand and either keep or sell second on at little or no loss.

23. I used a sponge from a supermarket pack of dish washing sponges under my strings as an experiment and it seems to do the job quite well on the P Bass, no point putting it on the Jazz. I don't often play with a pick, used to for playing faster than I could with my fingers on a couple of songs way back when, but will give it a go for this occasion. May also ask Kermit if he wants me to audition vocals as well as bass... Reckon I could do a great hum through "walk the line" and less likely to sound like an actual Muppet
