    Bit of a story with this one: bought as B-stock from eBay for £149 as the electronics weren't working. Since purchasing, I've: 1. Repaired the dodgy jack so it's now 'breathing' (the active circuitry works!) 2. Sanded some of the fret ends as they were a bit sharp - still not perfect but a lot better. 3. Applied a bit of lemon oil to the Indian Blackwood fretboard as it looked a bit dry 4. Tightened the tuners as they weren't super tight out of the factory It's now a killer 6-string, neck thru bass waiting for a new owner (it's way too big for my tiny hands, that are used to Ibanez 5-strings!) Specs (from link above): Neck construction : Neck-Thru Body Body : Mahogany Neck : Canadian Maple with Mahogany Stripe Fingerboard : Indonesian Blackwood, 24 Frets Scale length : 34 inches String spacing at bridge : 17 mm Fitted with 2 truss rods Pick-up : H-H, Ceramic Controls : 1 Volume, 3 Tone, 1 Balance, Preamp Circuit Machine Heads : Chrome Weight is slightly above 5kg This bass retails for £299 so I've decided to move it on for £200 or am open to trades. P&P at buyer's expensve, payment by bank transfer only.

    Bought from Mr. Discreet on this forum and love it to bits but it's also made me realise that I still love 5-strings and Ibanez so I'm putting it back up for sale. It's still in as new condition, having being played for just a few hours. Strings are in great condition and the setup is fantastic. Comes with a black pickguard that I never got round to fitting as well as bridge cover (which I did fit, but was done after these photos were taken). I have a box to pack it in but P&P will need to be arranged by the buyer. Payment by bank transfer only.

    Hi all, A quick intro: I've loved bass guitars ever since I picked one up around 10 years ago and have recently decided to start learning to setup and maintain them as I was always amazed at what a difference a professional setup can make. I eventually want to start putting my own basses together and building them completely as I find some of the topics in 'Build Diaries' utterly amazing. So, I wanted to ask people who were a bit more knowledgable: where is the best place to start when it comes to learning how to build a bass guitar? I've got a 'shopping list' of things I need to start buying (fret finishing tools, a straight edge etc.) and have also looked at courses offered by Crimson Guitars. I've even reached out to Jaydee (as they're 15 minutes down the road from me) to see if they'd be willing to let me come and help them out (for free) in exchange for learning about what it is that goes into a well-made bass guitar. I'm fortunate enough to have some money to spend on the hobby but have virtually no woodworking experience so am torn between buying older basses to 'do up' or buying kits, or even buying better-quality parts to assemble and sell on.

    Given everything that's going on at the moment, it's likely that we'll have to wait a while until we're able to visit a music store to try a bass guitar out. So it got me wondering if the majority of people still seek out a music store before deciding on their purchase or if an online review/sound sample is sufficient. I used to insist on playing the instrument before purchasing it but with all the different brands available, there are only so many that I'd be able to try in my local music shops. It also seems like the combination of online reviews as well as the freedom to return instruments (in a given timeframe) means that buying online has never been safer. But I'm curious to know what everyone else thinks; is it just me that is happy to go off a YouTube review before deciding on an instrument purchase?

    I understand, but I think that's more the fault of the platform (and not the business that paid for the ads)? I use Adblock though as I find most adverts annoying anyway.

    I've had a hiatus from bass for months now and I jumped onto SBL straight away as soon as I got back into it. The Players Path then recently popped up so I started that - and now I'm finding it difficult to stop! It's one of the highest quality online tutorials I've come across (for anything, not just bass) and it's obvious that a lot of work has gone into it. I assume that most people who complain about his marketing are the same folks that aren't aware that they can unsubscribe from e-mails

    I was searching for new listings and found someone selling off some ex-display Cort basses. If you're in the market for an 'as new' Cort bass then this might be a good buy for you.
