1. Very nice indeed...a stunning example. Any particular reason for the dolls inthe pic?
2. I for one haven't had her....but I like looking at her!
3. Seriously nice bass and very tempting.
4. That is absolutely stunning - and I know that it will sound even better once plugged in! Congratulations.
5.
A lot of Wal action here:
Percy Jones and Mick Karn influences abound!
6. Not sure if these would be classified as "weird" enough but for me its Entwistles Alembic exploiter and BC Rich's Mockingbird design.
7.
Just out of interest, did Jaco class himself as a 'Fender' guy?
Jaco classified himself as unclassified. Legend has it that he was noodling on his bass of doom at the university of Florida and a passing bassist commented "Wow, that bass sounds amazing!"...to which Jaco placed it back in its stand and asked "Yeah? Well, how does it sound now?" For me, that gives perspective to the rampant GAS fascination so often seen around these parts...the name on the headstock is of no relevance, it's the name playing it that counts.
8.
...other than the fact that he didn't like the playability or the tone :-D
It was an admittedly poor attempt at humour
9.
Just goes to show it IS in the fingers, sounds like Jaco not a JD If you get me
Absolutely.
10. you have already answered your own question...Ibanez SR meets your criteria perfectly. great basses.
11. Apologies if this has been posted before - just stumbled over this interesting footage of Jaco playing a Jaydee; might be of interest to fans of either! http://youtu.be/yPA5zjj2TrI
12.
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between stainless and nickel strings? I usually use Rotosound - RS66LD which are stainless but I noticed that they also do RS55LDN which is the nickel version. Would I notice much difference? http://www.rotosound.../swing-bass-66/
I agree with the previous comments; I changed to nickels for a while...I really enjoyed them and gigged with them several times. After a while however my hands broke out in a painful rash. Turns out I am allergic to nickel strings.
13.
Yeah its great and you are local too!
Yup, very close to Glasgow indeed. Nothing I have to trade meets your criteria unfortunately. Good luck with the sale, if you have still have it in a couple of months drop me a line!
14. Oh, this ticks all of my boxes...Japanese Fender, unmarked fretless, white. Want it, cant afford it. Good luck tho!
15. Well, from one bassist to another I really enjoyed that. Unconventional methods are just fine - music is art...there are no rules! Thanks for sharing.
16. These are wonderful instruments. I owned an ex Hue & Cry example and it was the best bass that I have ever owned.
17. That is a beautiful example...bargain!
18. Selling England by the pound - Genesis. Timeless!
19. Excellent well designed instruments, excellent quality/build control, impressive range of products for most budgets - none of which disappoint... I am a fan.
20. Origins of the word Brand = "A method of burning a distinctive symbol into the skin of animals to differentiate between one persons cattle and another's." Be careful of the brand that you choose allegiance to....you wear it. The things that you own own you.
21. I had an Ibanez SR that had a similar issue - it was however the result of my constant slapping. This is the downside of tactile, natural finishes I'm afraid. Fender would name it "Kudos".
22. It looks like a great replacement indeed, however I don't see any particular improvement of the Hipshot supertone. Very expensive too.
23. Superb P basses...glwts!
24.
They make your fretboard easier to see on dark stages. I'm not a fan of them myself. Another solution would be to add luminlay markers on the side of the fretboard. It's a much cheaper solution than having L.E.D.s fitted.
If the OP spends lots of time playing on a dark stage then it might be a worthwhile mod....
25. What actually is the purpose of LED's on a bass? Do they have a purpose at all ..or are they just bling? They don't seem to be common with pro's or many big name players. I have never even played a bass with any fitted in 35yrs of playing.
