1. Cool Deb, unless someone else has flats on their bass and can save you lugging it :-)
2. I saw some tab, it was like sixteenth triplets from say fret 24 down to 1 :-0
3. Well I'm out of the bedroom and in my first band, a Mod Band. Met the guys last night and I'm in. Got to put my leathers and Harley aside for a while and get a Tonic Suit Got a set list of 12 pieces but most are really obscure eg Slim Harpo and I can't find the TAB anywhere to be able to make a start. I thought that was some kind of cleaning product. Thing is that the guitarist says they don't want to be a tribute band and they want to play it their own way. Along the side of the list he has put the key he wants the pieces in. One is Green Onions by Booker T..he has put E alongside it. The tab I've found is mostly F on the E string so I guess thats in F? I'm happy to play the difficult stuff easier if I can ..eg Who stuff where I'll not be able to play like the Ox after 9 months obviously. So guys, do I learn the tab I can find which is the right way to play the piece, sound great and let the guitarist sound crap? Am I starting to think like a Bass player ... or throw everything out of the window, play the wrong way, sound iffy and hide at the back behind my Rig? How do you change a piece in tab for one key to another?.... keep the same finger pattern but start it on a different fret and/or work out the note relationship? I'm in deep
4. I've only got one pedal...... So far :-) It's an Ashdown LoMenzo and it's great fun :-D
5. I've been looking for a lot of tab lately. I've got songster and found some free stuff on ultimate guitar. Found this one too..... I posted the strangers tab link on another posting. Know of any others? http://www.bigbasstabs.com/
6. Nice, a 115 T is my next purchase :-)
7. PS I would like to have a go at some flat wounds...don't know how they feel or sound...... Want to see and hear the Rickenbacker too :-)
8. I've bought some earnie ball slinkies for my squire P bass but only as an experiment in changing the strings for the first time. If I get it right, then I'll get some good strings for my Fender P Bass.... Maybe elixirs as they seem to have a good write up but I've never tried flats and don't know how they'd feel different to playing with round wound ..l don't know how different they'd sound either but the plan is to get the best sounding playing strings for the fender P but I'm not sure if that is like looking for the holy grail?
9.
You're new around here, aren't you? OK everybody, tin hats on; you know the drill.
LMFAO :-)
10. I had a day just like that yesterday ... Trouble was it was my Grade exam :-( Why couldn't it have been the day before....
11. I'm coming and planning on offloading my 11 year old first :-) I haven't got a clue what goes on so I'm coming along to say hello really. I'll bring my 2012 P so people can try it. Can't fit my amp in the boot :-(. Might bring my LoMenzo pedal which is great fun :-) I'm interested in hearing what a Rick sounds like :-)
12. I think it was just underpowered and a guitar amp as well ... I've heard some of the more powerful bass amps and they seem ok
13. I love my Evo iii and noticed the difference plugging in my P to a Roland Cube 10w or something at my Grade 3 exam today...it sounded completely sh*te and it put me off completely :-(. Mucked up my pieces.... I must have been in shock or something :-(
14. Damn... Could do with you in south wales :-(. I took up bass as perhaps a route to rockabilly double bass
15. Welcome ... And you sound like a Harley owner :-D
16. It seems to be word of mouth..I got recommended by my son's drum teacher to his mate who is looking for a bassist to join a three piece Mod Band. Very optimistic of him as I only played a grade piece in time with the teacher as part of my sons lesson. Thought it sounded cool and a bit different, thought I'd give it a go, chuck my grades, and get out of the bedroom, burn and die :-D
17. Sounds very reasonable to me truckstop :-)
18. Ever seen what a biker looks like playing in a Mod Band..watch this space :-D
19. Anybody else doing an exam tomorrow? The last 6 weeks have gone by really fast :-0
20. Gee that's a lot of songs. I hope I don't get asked to learn so many when I join my first band this week. I'm really panicking now..lol All the best though :-)
21. I got no chance..I looked at some who tab yesterday....sixteenth note triplets and sorts of jiggery pokery.... Think I'll need a lifetime before I'll be able to pay entwhistle stuff :-(
22. I guess.. I've found a few websites. Cheap image... A Fred perry and a pair of 501s :-). If it works out and I don't get binned, I might get a tonic suit. My biker mates think its hilarious :-D. ....
23. I wish.. if they mix it up and depending on their song choice I might spat on if I'm unlucky
