  1. Holy crap. I might be the bass player in a MOD Band. Now what? I guess that's the end of Rockschool Grades :-D
  2. Well I've had an invite I'm thinking about seashell..... Depends what's involved, Mr Ace says if it's proper giggin having to learn 20 songs etc, that's too much for me at the mo, but if it's just for fun, to give it a go.... :-0
  3. Dunno... I guess when I get out of the bedroom and play ok in a Band
  4. Cool show us some rockabilly DB... :-) I'd like to do that sometime. I thought that playing bass guitar would get me there in the future :-)
  5. Anyone bringing along a Rickie and a Ray? Not heard what they're like
  6. Cool..... The number of riffs on songster we're wrong, but the tab on the link above was spot on ... Just couldn't count it .... I haven't got to the 15 rep at the end yet :-D
  7. Shoved my grade 3 aside , got the TAB for Peaches and mucked about for an hour..it sounded ok with the trebble rolled off, bass boost, full compression and full overdrive.... Problem was I couldn't count the riff repetitions.... How do you manage that, my mind wondered every now and again, forgot which rep I was in , and then missed the next type of riff :-(. Didn't get it right to the end once but it was about 5 minutes of riff reps :-0
  8. I had an email today from my son's drum teacher saying his mate is looking for a bassist and thinks I'd be a good fit. He must be desperate. I took my bass along to a drum lesson and played a grade 3 piece with him. Not sure if I've got the necessary experience and bottle but I've got the gear so I might have a go even if I start off playing root notes or something. Dunno. I want to get into a band at some stage but maybe after just 9 months playing its a tad optimistic?
  9. Check out this free stranglers TAB :-) http://www.johnrosk.btinternet.co.uk/strangindex.html#stranglerstab
  10. 2 professional bass guys who have picked up my 2012 P say it's good :-)
  11. Thanks guys... Shame I haven't got enough hair for a Beatles cut :-(
  12. Which one would you go for? I think the Gretsch looks a bit better but maybe the Gibson would sound better and maybe better built? GAS for a semi acoustic rock n roll type Bass . Thought about the Hagstrom Viking until I read about the breaking trapeze, thought about the Epiphone Jack Casady until I saw the Gretsch and now the Gibson is out I dunno
  13. Yep I just spotted then on FB. Winkle Pickers seem to be required for the Fuzz and Envelope How would you use these and what effect do they give ? I've got compression and octave on my Ashdown Amp.
  14. Thanks guys... I guess I'll ignite it if it sounds crap :-)
  15. Yep I can do that. Most guys can change their hand and pretend they are someone else :-D
  16. Got one of these arriving from Thomann. Good deal £225 including a case. Any idea how to get an authentic sound out of it with its controls and an Ashdown head? I guess I've been watching too much Beatles on TV this week. Watching Macca with Ronnie Wood at the moment :-)
  17. I can make it at the moment :-)
  18. .. ....the £50 Bass arrived with a £30 K & M speaker stand I didn't order
  19. I'd hope to attend. On Sunday, Mr Ace mentioned that he might be up for it if he is asked. Last time I think he was in the frame for one but no one had asked him in fact :-0. He'll need more eggs though Deb lol. Can't do 4 th Nov as its my exam, nor 23/24 as I've got something far better to go to..a stag weekend :-)
