1. I like my squire P bass and use it most often but when I get my USA P out of its case , you can tell that it's much much better.....It is far heavier, I can play a lower action on it without clanking frets, when you tune it it keeps the notes after you've put it away and use it again, easier to play but it takes no prisoners... Make a mistake and you can hear it plainly, it's so deep I have to turn the practice amp up, easier to adjust the intonation and rod...... Expect it'll sound much better on a decent amp too..... Buy the best bass you can and pay for it when you can :-)
2. I've bitten the bullet and put in for the exam
3. Welcome.. Gee I haven't heard of Man since the mid 70s..... I used to deliver newspapers for the guitarist I think who used to own Glanmor Post Office Uplands Swansea .... And we used to sit on the wall outside his window on a sunny say listening to him jamming... Oh yeah and I went to see them at the Top Rank in 1974 the night before my Welsh O Level...got pissed and woken up by a bouncer under the staircase at 2am.... Yeah, I failed it :-) enjoyed the gig though :-)
4. I think you are right Geoff ... I'll take a look when I get it and figure out how to use the amp.... Might take it to Mr Ace to show me some stuff :-)
5.
Thats one of the new MAG heads with the grind emulator, right? If so, I'd really like to know what you think of it. Cheers Geoff
Not sure what the change is Geoff but its got the sub-octave and compression on it as far as I know :-)
6. I play my first Bass, a Squire P Bass every day and bring out my Fender P on the weekend :-) I heard a guy from the Affray play a Bongo and it sounded great though :-) I tried a Stirling the other day in a shop but didn't like it so I grabbed a Mexican Jazz and that sounded better but both sounded fairly crap on the orange combo :-(. .... Maybe because they had it turned down way low and I could hardly hear the Bass
7. Looking forward to my MAG 300 Evo iii head and 410T cab this week:-)
8. I'm probably going to put in for the grade 3 exam by the end of the month..... Almost cracked the 3 pieces..... Working on 2 more for the performance certificate but might leave that till after Christmas . I've been practising the scales , arpeggios and riff but havent had any practice with the ear tests. Check out my 3 vids on utube if you want a laugh... Search ukflamesey :-)
9. I'm in London tomorrow and might revisit Denmark Street and try and have a noodle :-)
10. I've got a 410T coming and I'll see what it sounds like but will probably add a 115 to get full power out of the Mag 300 Evo iii , rather than another 410T or 210 :-)
11. Oh dear seashell... I was planning on wearing my cowboy hat with a real western diamondback rattlesnake hatband and rattle..but not so sure now..wouldn't want him writing on my photo :-D
12. I fancied a Jack Casady but then saw the Hagstrom ..... Thormann thought that the hagstrom was better but I dunno ...
13. I like a hard copy of magazines. My dad was a lithographic printer of cartons, cigarette packets etc and he used to take me around the factory when I was a kid. I just love the smell of fresh print :-) .... So if you see someone sniffing the bass magazines in WHS, it's me :-D
14. LMFAO you guys crack me up :-) I'm going to use, in ten years time when I can play something, Mr Fretbuzz but I guess I won't get many gigs with a name like that :-)
15. Ace..... I bought my fender from them because of quick availability but when you factor in a visa charge it was about the same as the uk.... I bought my squire p bass package from them too and they did replace a faulty lead straight away so they do seem good... Was thinking of the cherry but I'll probably get a TSB at some stage ... I'll check out uk prices first :-)
16. I fancy a hagstrom but not sure about buying one in Germany if there is a design fault... :-(
17. Saw kasabian on tv last night at reading.... Enjoyed the bass :-) ....... Fender jaguars by the looks of it with, I think a Gibson semi acoustic maybe It's funny but since I started Bass in January , I can only hear the bass and look for the bass .... Normal I guess .... :-) Homed in on Green Day as well as they are recommended listening for one of the Rockschool Grade 3 pieces.....
18. Came across lovecats last week in my lesson with Mr Ace so I watched them at Reading..... On tv :-)
19. Enjoyed watching your stuff whilst on free Internet in Ibiza recently... Learned some stuff, thanks :-)
20. I surrender.... Think I'll ride my bike instead :-)
