1. Sorry guys, I only cottoned on to this thread yesterday.
2.
Paloma Faith has a sister called Tugonma Lipth.
I actually cried with laughter when I read this.
3. Hi Guys, sorry, please excuse my lack of replies to your messages. There hasn't been much interest for a while, so I haven't been checking the thread. @zawinul, I'll get the measurements to you asap, but it may take till Sunday. @paulmacnamara, yes I might be open for trades. I don't really have anything specific in mind, just try me. @ anyone interested, it's always best to PM me. Then I get a notification of your message. Once again, sorry for the tardy reply. Cheers, Paul
4. Oh you naughty, naughty man, just when I promised myself no more GAS...
5. Since when did needing have anything to do with it?
6. Hi Lukas, welcome to Basschat. I played the Grand Café in Lausanne eons ago. Do they still have live music there now? All the best Paul
7. Judging by the amount of interest so far, no
8. Hello All, I have a 1988 Hohner B2 (that's the passive one) that I want to move on. I bought it secondhand in a shop in 1991 and have only ever used it as a travel/practice bass. Everything is in good working order. The paint is in very good nick, apart from 2 small chips on the bottom (see pics) and some ware on the lacquer on the strap-buttons and on the ball-end holder where the headstock isn't (if you know what I mean ) (also see pics). It comes with a Hohner soft case with 2 holes corresponding to the ware on the strap-buttons. 2 of the knobs are missing (just the knobs, not the pots themselves) but I can get replacements which are very similar but not quite identical, 'cos Hohner don't make them anymore. I'm after 180 quid, but am also open to trade offers. Cheers, Paul
9. Please ignore this post, you wanted suggestions of NON-tonal percussion. I re-read you post and recognised my mistake 😳
10. It's all very well, but where do you stand your pint, eh? Tell me that.
11.
Vintage: Proper hefty bass sound with bass played as it should be, as part of a rhythm section. Rugged and manly. Hi-Fi: Widdly-widdly twangy cutlery-drawer-down-the-stairs in your face inappropriate slappy solo nipple-rub for gaylords. I await the backlash with pleasure.
Once again Discreet sums it up tidily
12. Please forgive a brief thread-jacking, but does anyone know where to find old bits from "The Tube" (80s music-telly for the younger amongst us)? Only there seems to be surprisingly little on YouTube. Again, please forgive the direction change, Paul
13. Frankly I think it serves him right for wondering about out there beyond the fifth fret
14. Now, now, play nicely😊
15. I expect there's no fannying around with them.
16. For the Love of Money - O'Jays For sheer simplicity and coolness Once In a Lifetime - Talking Heads
17. At first glance I didn't even recognise that it was a guitar. Then I flipped through the pics. It made me smile too. Funny investment on the part if Epiphone though. Who would they sell it to? It takes all kinds, I suppose...
18. That looks yummy. Am I the only one here who would describe the finish as a, "Discreet's avatar" cream colour?
19. Now this looks like fun. It's not really pretty, but... the bloke looks like he has an honest face. Scroll down past the pictures and the German text. There's a description in English. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Cajon-Bass-Guitar-fretless-Bassgitarre-Bundenlos-fretloze-Cajon-basgitaar/191522599976?_trksid=p2045573.c100034.m2102&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140107091039%26meid%3Defc9efb9b47c444e9743ec5954b5411f%26pid%3D100034%26rk%3D8%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D252033645452
20. Nice one man. Really demonstrates your point about how different players' styles can influence the character of the music. Also well performed, engaging and interesting. Good luck with your website Paul
21. So? It's an axe... Bumm, bumm
22.
We need to buy this, set fire to it and bury the remains so no-one ever has to see it again.
The poor thing has clearly suffered enough already. I mean.... look at it......it never chose to be made that way. It should be set free into the wild. Judging by its' looks there is certainly no risk of it procreating.
23. Bought a Badass II in gold from JJJack. Good communication, quick delivery and a good buy. Top chap, Paul
