1. Yep, there he is again. Using every inch of the instrument and just when you think he's done, he opens the door to another 5 rooms worth of sh#t. God I love his playing. Thanks for posting.
2.
There is a big issue with couriers and lack of insurance though. I don't think any will insure a bass in transit, although I'd love to be proved wrong.
Hi Myke, fyi, I shipped a bass last week from Germany to the Czech Republic using dpd (deutsche paket dienst) who, I believe, also operate in the UK. They upped their automatic insurance value from €520,- up to €1000,- for an additional charge of €11,- and they knew it was a bass. Cheers Paul
3.
once on holiday, I saw a fat Karen Carpenter tribute
Ouch!
4. I saw these live a couple of years back (the tickets were for free and I thought it would be a laugh...it was fun...anyway) and Simon LeBon was about 2 stone heavier with a full on beard. He looked like Oliver Reed.
5.
And this...
I've long been a fan of Tom Lehrer, so thanks for that reminder, but the Rubberbandits are fantastic. Dead funny, really ace production with just the right amount of attitude. Thanks for posting.
6. Hey there, look forward to hearing some samples of the duo.
7. Really nice man, got me from bar 1. Ace tune, nice groove. Thanks for posting.
8.
Completely forgot about these chaps. I caught the end of their set at Camp Bestival a couple of years ago and have been trying to see (and book) them ever since. They're on tour soon, but unfortunately I have a gig on the night they're in Bristol. Steampunk-Victorian-punk-thrash-comedy: These blokes do it all.... http://youtu.be/21QqXumEWFU
Absolutely superb. I've never heard of them. I just laughed my head off. Thanks so much for that.
9. Ooh shocker! That's how rumours start.
10. Hello there and welcome. I always wanted to do a "dead" tribute and call it the Dreadful Great (or Grate)... but Ungrateful Dad tops that. Well done
11. In the words of Foghorn Leghorn's adversay George P. Dawg, "When I said he was ugly, I just meant he looks like he's been beaten wit da ugly stick."
12. That looks well risky to me. If your rig ist tall enough (and most are) I've always liked the Markbass Bass Keeper. Dead safe, and so easy to transport.
13.
My fave to play with the band is 'I Want Your Love' by Chic, Not complex at all but as Bilbo mentions in his post.... it's about getting the groove. Harder than you think.
Yep. Very hypnotic. The guitar part even more so.
14.
As a turgid young teen, I'd favour the shower section. Usually a bit of bare leg and a tantalising glimpse of side-boob on offer. Kids today have it so easy, don't they? Reverse cowboy, teabagging, Arabian goggles, dirty Sanchez, pearl necklaces and Boston pancakes, all at the click of a mouse!
I never thought of myself as having lead a particularly sheltered life, but I honestly have no idea what half of those things are. It sounds to me like a rundown of the starters at Aintree 🐴
15. Express Yourself by the watts 103rd St. rhythm band, just for the joy and groove of it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rImQZ8euKok For the same reason, I Gotcha by Joe Tex. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0qT4zTv_vVY
16.
Storing wine upright, pfft nothing upmarket about that!
Storing the wine 'upright' (geddit?) upright bass? I saw what you did there 😏 I'll get me coat...
17. The advertising text Much in the vein of classic sports car ethos, the SRKP4 is sleek, yet simple. Muscular, yet agile. Turbo charged by the Mini Kaoss Pad 2s, this is the perfect vehicle for any level of aptitude, any style of playing, or any musical genre. Reminds me of the "J. Arthur" section in that 80s free music paper Making Music, where such advertisers texts were subject to appropriate ridicule.
18.
But undeniably a splendid way of getting right up the nose of any guitarist, and therefore to be praised.
Wise words young padawan.
19. All a bit hooky if you ask me... /coat
20.
Here's the upmarket version.
Now if you can get one that plays and then does that in the break (preferably drum break) you're onto a winner.
21. Does it strike anyone else here as ironic that the second one was the ace of SPADES? I love the fact that someone went to all that trouble, and yes, I've seen worse live acts.
22. No frills there, strictly bog-standard.
23.
No backlash from here! I agree 100%.
+1
