Im late to the P party cos all the ones i tried i couldnt get on with the chunky neck so i built one with a jazz neck and really liked it and it sat well in the bands live mix, so i thought id give them another go and lo and behold i found a CV in tomato soup red played and hmmmm the neck isnt as chunky as i remembered and promptly traded my Ltd for it. Looks better with the maple neck, I changed the stock pup to an entwistle neo in the one I had and it improved it loads, got rid of mine cos I dont get on with p necks.

I got rid of the one i had cos the neck was too chunky, it was the original one with the star on the body, i never measured it though.

Copperhead Road Steve Earle[/font][/color] [/quote] out of that entire list we do one song and its at number 2, we do the Thunder version and it does go down well, out of our sets (70`s 80`s 90`s rock covers band) anything by Dio and Whitesnake tends to go down well. Off the beaten track covers would be That Girl by FM seems to go down well and Jane by Jefferson Airplane.

I had a similar era Rockbass Streamer and I agree the pickups are very weak which is a shame as theyre a nice bass. Can you get a washer or 2 on the end of the rod for a bit extra turnage?

The original preamp had some serious welly, well mine did, if its the original one there should be a hole in the control cover on the back with a x head in it to adjust output, it will have a +/- round it.

I swapped an absolute dog of a bitsa P with a squier neck for a LTD 204BM I couldnt get back in the car fast enough :-) does that count?

I got a 90`s Squier MIJ P body and fitted (with a lot of fettling) it to a bought off ebay one piece flamed maple neck, ebay mirror plate, Roto Nexus strings et voila...... a Lynott tribute bass. As I mentioned in an earlier post I bought a MIJ P with a knackered neck with the intention of fitting a Jazz neck to it that I bought off here a week or so earlier.................here it is, I`ll post a nbd thread explaining the hassles ive encountered to get to this! very nice. I tried a tonemonster sbk-2 and was seriously underwhelmed, scratchy pots and a lower output than when it was passive, dunno if mine was a dodgy one but i wouldnt get another.
