I like as low an action as I can get, use 40-100 strings and also play exclusively with a pick (ive a short circuit between my fingers and my brain) and i tend to hammer it with the pick.

A 5er that I can actually get along with Ive had several 5 strings over the last couple of years and non have stayed in my sweaty mitts more than a couple of months thanks mainly to chunky neck syndrome (the basses not me!) BUT I tried a Jackson JS3V on friday and it felt sooo good, a wide but shallow neck, shallow being my holy grail! now Id done a bit of homework on the model before I went to see it and was really pleasantly suprised that it isnt infact a solid black paint job but a see thru black over quilted maple....very nice indeed and its got the very metal pointy headstock perfect for the 2 rock bands iI currently reside in. Just waiting for some Roto Nexus to come through the post then I can start really giving it some beans (hope im not the only one that isnt too keen on playing someone elses well worn strings). Anyway here it is. So Ive been playing my recently built P with a jazz neck and im quite suprised how much im liking it, so I thought as im now into my last year of my 40`s as of yesterday I would treat myself to something nice, so I bought a Fender Blacktop Jazz body from the states and as I had a maple board Mighty Mite J neck from a previous non build i thought I would spec myself a bit of a monster, so its fitted with Entwistle Neo PBXN`s front and back and also has a series/parallel harness with a varitone switch rather than a standard tone control, im still waiting for a new bridge from the states so its built up with a standard bbot. It sounds epic!! P bass pickup advice: '95 Korean Squier v Classic Vibe '60s
DarkHeart replied to lownote's topic in Bass Guitars
The CV pup is supposed to be (apparently) a tonerider pup but the best thing to do would be try them both and use the one you prefer the sound of. -
You can paint mine satin black if you like ;-)
