1. welcome Mark, I'm in Dover!!
2. I bought this last year from it's original owner. He used it in a punk band and then didn't play it for years and I did a deal with him for this and a Stagg EUB. I also just don't use it enough. It's in very very good condition. A few dings and a little buckle rash on the back but really nothing major. It weights 8 lbs on the bathroom scales and is 1 5/8 inches at the nut There's some sort of hard case somewhere in my music room for it too. Nice light weight (haven't weighed it but I can) and it rings like a piano. Recently set up and sporting a set of Roto Swing Bass. I don't think I even gigged this one. Recent purchase of my TVR is my reason for sale, so no trades. Looking for £850 which includes free shipping to anywhere in the UK. You're welcome to come and have a look/play and cup of tea. I'll even show you the TVR!! Please, no silly low ball offers. If I don't get what I think it's worth, I'll keep it under the bed with the Aria SB-R 150, Ibanez musician fretless, etc
3. For sale is my 2002 custom shop R57. It's been well gigged and has Schaller strap locks and Seymour Duncan Slash pickups. A great guitar but needs to go as I want to buy a TVR. No trades because it's cash that I would like. Big 50's style neck and great tone. If you need anymore info, PM me. Cheers
4.
i have flats on my Hofner, and just about to put some on my Jack Casady. Love em.
Snap, I'm going to do that when I get back from my holiday
5. that really is a great picture. and very similar to my post gig wind down although mine is a bit of dinner and bottle of red!!
6. Well done Ant. When I started to play just over 30 years ago, I would play along to the top 40 chart show. Obviously not all the right bass lines but with a groove that fitted. It taught me great timing and to listen to what was going on. I remember some really simple but effective bass lines by artists like Kim Wilde, Keith Marshall (only crying), Status Quo. I also think that a great way to move forward is to play with other people. It's the one thing I tell people to do. Learn to Jam!! Enjoy Ant
7. if the build quality is anything like my Jack Casady bass, it will be very good
8.
if your bass gets wet or even slightly damn from moisture in the air then leave it out of it's case at home for a few days to dry properly. I made the mistake of just wiping down and putting it in the case only to find 2 weeks later when i got it out, rusty screws on the bridge
I sweat so much everything goes rusty. wipe it down? not on your nelly. I don't need to adjust the bridge saddles anyway )
9.
And a hat
+1
10. paid £550 for a '62 P bass in 1989.sold it for £550 in 1992 to go on holiday. It wasn't as good as my '75 but would now be worth a bit more than that.
11. I've got a few 'signature' guitars. Vintage 'Geoff Whitehorn'. I know Geoff and the Signature guitar he used was stock. It's a great sounding strat copy Epiphone Jack Casady. Great looking, plays great but not yet gigged. I have a Paul Reed Smith 'signature series guitar' 1000 made and hand signed by Paul himself. Very nice nut it lives under the bed these days. Gibson 'Slash AFD'. I bought this becaue I thought it was a ltd piece of 600, then they made some more. Doesn't matter as it's the best Les Paul I've got (and I've got 3 others) It's my 'goto' guitar for my pub band. Did have a Fender 'Sting' bass, for my Police tribute and it was an excellent bass but I sold it to fund my Bravewood replica of Sting's #1 bass. They can be a great. Horses for.....and all that
12. right then, it's turned up. lowered the action a little and it's great. played it unplugged and it sounds great acoustically. Then I plugged it into my ampeg pf500. it was ok on 50. but 250 it farted and 500 was worse. Then I remembered it was low impedance but what difference would that make. So I pressed the -15db button on the front, (sort of meant for active basses) and it sorted it. Maybe the bass was overloading the very first input stage of the pre amp (even before the clip light stage, because that wasn't glowing) anyway, it seems fine set up this way. Build quality is very good but I can't tell where it's made. It says limited edition on the back of the headstock, but who knows how limited it will actually be. I'll try and post some pictures
13. yep, too late mate. That takes my total to 27. basses, guitars and acoustics. most of them get a run out, every now and then.
14. cool. I've ordered one from GAK. I phoned them and they did me a great price over the phone. £490 delivered with a free strap worth 30 odd quid. must get myself a dep gig on the bass!!
15. It'll probably hardly ever get gigged as I don't gig on bass much these days, apart from Police tribute. should I get one anyway?
16. Sting is one of my favourite bass players. Hence my tribute band 'The Police Squad'. The Police are my favourite band of all time
17. Bought my first bass from Kennards in Canterbury in July 1981. It was a Tempest SG shaped thing. (Kay under another name I think) . Did me first gig on rememberance sunday that same year (Nov 8th). I had just turned 13. I still see the members of my first band. Guitarist does an Ozzy tribute and the drummer now plays Keys for Toyah!!
18. Here's a couple of shots of my XL2. 1983. Plug in leg rest. It's in great nick, shame that somebody added all those strap buttons but it does stop it clouting the floor when you put it down. Awesome bottom end. It's a real 'fundamental' note. No rich harmonic overtones here. Doesn't get a lot of use but i had to have it for my Police Tribute, (Sting had an L2 for a while)
19. welcome, I recently bought a bass from a chap in cornwall, (Redruth actually).Lovely part of the world. Your opinions on slapping mirror my wife's.
20. I paid 2K for my transitional XL2 in virtually mint condition Fantastic bass guitar. Would love this L2 as Sting had one. (I use it in my police tribute but the L2 would be more historically correct) have a bump on me
