  1. Just received a Tech21 sansamp thing from Tim. Fantastic service, delivered quickly and beautifully described Full marks for this Sterling Basschatter thanks mate
  2. Crikey, that Tech21 thing. Sweet Jesus, it's amazing I've just plugged it into my office amp (Hartke HA1400 2 x10 combo) AMPEG!!! WOW
  3. I am, see you there should be a blast
  4. My Police tribute played a beach festival in Crete, about 10 years ago We were chilling out at the hotel of a mate who had come with us, got chatting with a slightly OTT Dutch gentleman All of a sudden there was a load of tourists, they entered the pool area (where we were) and all wanted pictures with me. He must have said I was Sting. Quite good fun, if a little odd
  5. I think you've probably nailed it there. 😂
  6. thanks everybody picked up a 2nd hand tech21 sansamp. Simple. straight into the PA. should work a treat I will get a Bery BDi to try though. cheap as chips and worth 25 quid I think
  7. Ok you fantastic bunch I already do my 80s duo. I use a Vox Tonelab or my guitar and it works very well I'm shortly to be starting a 70s/80s/90s glam duo. Similar thing, backing tracks with guitars and bass removed. What can my bass player use (actually it's Mrs Police Squad, she's a mighty fine player, plays with a pick, no pedals) We'll just go into the Allen and Heath desk, then into QSC K12s. She loves the Ampeg thing (Still uses a PF500 when gigging normally) TIA
  8. I don't understand why singers don't have their own PA system We have our own amps/guitars/basses (& mics) so why don't they I have an awesome PA (I am also a singer) QSC K12s plus Ksubs and Allen and Heath Desk. you don't need to spend what I did to get decent sounding kit I would never join a band if the singer didnt have a PA.
  9. I played in Crete a few years ago. We were still in the EU at the time I took the neck off my P bass and put both bits in my suitcase. Reassembled when I arrived at my hotel, no problem Did the same going home You shouldn't have any customs problems but make sure you have proof of ownership, perhaps the UK receipt, if you still have it
  10. HW makes lovely basses. If I wanted such a bass, it would be HW all the way
  11. time for me to try 6 music then I listen to greatest hits radio atm. Mostly good ex radio 1/2 presenters, music gets a bit samey but occasionally they play a belter will have a go at 6 tomorrow
  12. my hofner ct violin bass has a very slim neck. La Bella deep talking bass flats. Thump and thud personally I'd like to try a cavern bass. I think I would prefer the position of the back pickup, being closer to the neck That said, JMJ Mustang all the way for me these days.
  13. I went 45-100 with the Fender flats. They actually feel really nice, when sat down noodling away. The proof will be on a gig or a rehearsal. As mentioned, it's actually as a backup to my JMJ. cheers everybody
  14. let's try for a new year sale. In very good condition, not used much and not even touched since it was photographed for this sale
  15. my wife has one of these. Nicely yellowed from gigging A fine bass guitar, whoever gets this will love it GLWTS
  16. It will. I was blown away with it on my first gig And second And third
  17. I once had a pickup go open circuit on a precision. No spare bass. I always carry a spare now, I've never needed it. I dont carry a spare guitar on my duo gigs though, perhaps I should. But I only play about half the set on guitar, as it's 80s. There's a lot of songs without guitar in this set
  18. Every time I pick up my JMJ mustang, I smile. I've had it a couple of years now. I would try a vintera but for me, there's no need. P bass player for 33+ years. now, mustang all the way
  19. I have a Vintage 335 a-like. It has a 'Rich-wood' fingerboard. Apparently man made IIRC. When my local Tech set it up, he said he thought it was wood and maybe they were lying about it. Whatever....................it's a good playing and sounding guitar. Used it a lot during lockdown one. Don't know about the others but I would definately try one if I had too
  20. nice job, should be a blast. Good choice of guitar too!!
  21. I sorted my own pressies this year. I had a budget of around 500 quid. so, ebay, Ashdown RM Evo 4x10 8 ohm, just over 100 quid, almost new and virtually immaculate. (I gave the bloke £140 becuase he met me half way) an awesome little cab Boss CE2 1981 black label. £240. Again absolutely amazing sound Fender flats, like what are fitted to the JMJ mustang, for my bitsa P bass, (backup to JMJ for my new Americana band, details to be released when I'm allowed to) and a fkn cold!! fabbo
  22. I have it on an USA region dvd (except zepplin, which I have watched since. A shame, Plant was on tour at the time and he was exhausted) It was a really great day, my friend had an all day party. We had it on all day, it was fabulous. I really liked Julian Lennon's set
