1.
Loving all the BSII love (i'm a Novation employee for the sake of transparency). Unofficially (because it's 3rd party paid content), check out Darrell Freeman's excellent patch-pack aimed at bassists. Obviously these sounds work in other octaves, but my understanding is that Darrell specifically designed the sounds in our octaves www.synthbass.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlbbvTGNw6o Cheers Si
Nice one Si, I'll check that out.
2.
I'm also looking into getting hold of a synth and the Bass Station 2 looks as though it will meet my needs. I'm trying to achieve this... I assume that the BS2 will give me this sound and that I can't do this with a pedal? I also need to replicate this sound... Thanks in advance.
Yep, the BS2 will nail those sounds and you can use the arpeggiator to get the fast 16ths.
3. Wow! lovely. GLWTS
4. Best Bass Wah you can buy and great price, this won't be here long.
5.
Future impact synth bass pedal. In excellent condition. I will also include a brand new Roland um1 midi cable
I wondered how long that would take. GLWTS
6.
Hey Noir, have you tried powering your BS2 off of a pedalboard power supply? It should be doable as it takes a standard 9v centre negative input and only draws 300mA.
No, good to know incase the supplied PSU fails. Cheers
7.
Have you considered Industrial Radio? Steve Chick has developed the systems originally in the Wal MB4 and Peavey Cyberbass and marketed them under his own brand.
I sure have, prohibitively expensive for me though. I'm only using it for the odd section or song, and the BS2 sounds bang on. Plus, I'm really enjoying having to play/learn a different instrument. I should clarify that I have tried before this a VB-99, GR-55, Deep Impact, Future Impact, Korg G5, plus a myriad of other pedals.
8. Gigged the Bass Station 2 a couple of times now, it is excellent, spot on for my needs. Even used it as mentioned in the original post for some Depeche Mode tunes, it was great fun and the entire band agreed the sound was perfect and greatly enhanced the song.
9. I saw this and assumed it was just a loop switcher, didn't realise it had inbuilt effects too. Hmmm, that is a lot more useful.
10.
Could you trigger moddled bass sounds from the x3 with with this setup? Set it up to behave like a 6 string bass through an amp? Forgive me if this is a stupid question but I have never looked at variax stuff.
Unfortunately not, the modelled instruments for guitar and bass are exclusive to the specific Variax. You'd need a Variax Bass 700 to use the bass models. That said, the POD X3 is a great unit for bass and the added Variax 300 would give you great scope for 6 string guitar too.
11.
Singer of the best ever Bond theme song as well. A real shock this, 52 is no age (said at the age of 51), sad, sad news.
Just transcribed it for tonights gig: Free Rock / Pop Dots
12. Still looking for some hosting, but in the meantime I've just transcribed this for tonights gig a tribute to Chris Cornell: You Know My Name (Casino Royal theme) - Chris Cornell You Know My Name - Bass Guitar.pdf
13. Maybe, they both have unique functions. The VB has pretty decent upright modelling, the synth section is much more comprehensive and the routing and effects sections are more independently controllable. The GR has PCM tones, the VB does not. The bass to MIDI on the GR is much better. It's horses for courses really, depends what you need and how you're going to use it.

.-.

I always like to test a basses potential by overloading the input gain and playing all the open strings ringing out into each other. I also test sustain by waving the bass around, particularly if it has Bartonelli pickups. That vid is quite a watch! 😧
15. Right, little update. I've picked up a Bass Station 2. It seems perfect, many of the preset sounds do exactly what I want anyway. With a little bit of tweaking I can refine them, and I seem to understand what I'm doing (largely due to the excellent layout of the BS2) as in when I want to adjust something I seem to be able to find it quickly and get what I'm after. Time will tell as I'm, yet to gig it, but first impressions are very promising. I'll report back soon.
16. Bought and SM-58 from Mike, easy peasie transaction. Wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again.
17. Possibly? I had a generic one, and couldn't get it to work. As soon as I used the roland it worked straight away.
18. You need a midi interface, preferably the roland one. Once you have that, install the FI software and away you go.
19. You wouldn't normally show whether it was above or below the tonic chord as its largely irrelevant. I think you are slightly misunderstanding the role of the Roman numerals. They are to show the chord progression in any key, it doesn't matter if you voice the VI chord higher or lower than the tonic chord. When you talk about intervals you are talking about single notes, not chords. If you do want to stipulate intervals in a baseline or melody(single notes), you should notate the part written in dots. That way there can be no error in conveying the right line.
20. Ha, yeah. - as much as I'd like this gone it's low on my list of priorities.😊
21. I think the bass station 2 is my favourite so far. The price, analogue engine and ability to store presets seem to be the perfect combo. Just need to try one out.
22. I don't think so, a monosynth would be fine. I have an old roland module that I could use if I need polyphonic stuff. I'd like a dedicated bass synth.
23.
When is the cut off?
When can you pick it up by?
