There is a fair bit of length between the peg and the nut, I'd take out the center string, and they'd all have to move only a little bit to even out, the ones that would have to move most would be the new center pair, and they have longest tuner to nut length so angle would be minimal.
True. Put a badge on the spare tuner hole either side to cover it up. Replace the mono rails with a hipshot 20mm spaced bridge, should be long enough and wide enough to cover current screw holes up fill in the current thru body holes and redrill for the Hipshot. Then recess the ball ends and cover up with a backplate. Its a good idea!
If its 7 string narrow, with those individual saddles, you can make it a wide 6 string. Looks like if you do a neat job of blocking the hole, won't look too crazy with one less tuner.
That was the other plan I had for it. However which tuner would you remove to create the straightest point to the nut? More likely would have to shift all the tuners, possibly cut the headstock narrower.
That looks amazing. How is she tuned? I'm saluting your courage.
No idea! Probably a low F#, but plan is to use a lighter set of strings and go for a high F.

Babicz V Badass.... which is best for a P-Bass?
Shockwave replied to Bass-Thing's topic in General Discussion
Gotoh 201 or 203 is brilliant, if I had another Fender bass it is what I would go with. Its as solid, but not as ridiculous looking as a Badass or Babicz -

Hey guys. A while ago I bought a HK fretless 7 string, which frankly was a bit pants. The pickups were out of alignment, the neck pocket was bad. But hey I got it cheap and sold it for the same that I bought it... Lesson learned right? Maybe not... Whilst browsing German ebay, I saw this come up for sale. I really wanted a 6/7 String, all I have it at the moment are 4's! So its a bit of a gamble considering my previous experience. However considering its actually "Finished" rather then natural like alot of these type of basses, it might be a bit more hard-wearing. The fact is neck thru negates the bad neck pocket aspect I had. The only worry now is that it actually works and has decent pickup placement! So a quick rundown. 35Inch scale. Narrow bridge spacing, no idea how narrow. Kent Armstrong pups. Wilkinson hardware. D'addario strings. I am really hoping it will turn out OK, Want to start playing some death metal with this thing! If its any good I'll probably get the fretted version next month! Though I these basses have a high variation between good and crap. I will probably be after some different strings, anyone know what I can get? Likely needs to be super long scale. Rob.
<p>Hi Rob,</p> <p>Do you have the soft case and tags that came with it?</p> <p>Thanks,</p> <p>David</p> <div id="myEventWatcherDiv" style="display:none;"> </div>
I have the Tags somewhere, though I may have lost them in my recent move to London. I might be able to provide a beatup gig bag, but not the one it came in (It's the only gigbag I own that fits my Gibson RD!) Cheers. Edit: Found the tags, they are here with me in London. I can pop them in the post to the buyer if picked up from Oli in Bristol.

Hey guys. More of a feeler right now as I really want to keep it, but I have no 5/6 string and really need one! Practically new Fender Jazz Antigua reissue FSR. MIM, maple fingerboard. Absolutely no wear and is in excellent condition. I have no pics unfortunately apart from this one behind my P-J! Its pretty damn lightweight, great tone from the Alnico pups. Pickup is from Bristol at Mr Foxens house or my place in London (Though i wont be able to get it to London until the 24th of August.) Pretty rare only limited to a few hundred worldwide and sold out in record time. Will accept £420 or trade. Firm price and no haggling please. I am after a 5/6 String bass, 6 string takes precedent, fretless is also an option. Part exchanges with cash my way also possible. Cheers! Rob.
I suppose I have been little naive in my outlook as to the Basschat dynamic, after all as you say Basschat is not a democracy and it is a business. So that's me told. But perhaps you can understand when people 'buy the T shirt', attend events, do's and members gigs, that the forum becomes a little more involving to its participants. Also a point that has perhaps got lost, is that I do care about Basschat. But when you post up stuff like ' what democracy or votes you may have taken part in are essentially window dressing' and ' If you don't like it you don't have to come back! ' It makes me wonder if you care about the members, and makes me less inclined to get involved.
Buying any merchandise, be it from a band or website does not give you a controlling interest in how that band or website runs. Events and members gigs are pretty much all member run, not BC run. We do care about the overall membership, however we do what is best for the majority. I am being honest with my reference to Window dressing, however if Kiwi and Ped decide it makes sense to open up BC to public votes then that is their bailiwick. Remember your talking about politics and controlling interests ON THE INTERNET. We provide a service for free with non intrusive ads. Free classifieds that make people lots of money and allow people to trade. We provide a platform for giving advice and shooting the breeze with other members. We are essentially bringing thousands of bassists together and we have been doing it successfully for years, why change a winning formula where the majority of the membership are happy with the way things are run?
Installing so many new Mods will have an impact on the dynamic of the site. It's a shame you didnt open your short-lists up for vote by the BC commutity as a whole. It's the members who make BC what it is, and this member feels this has been elitist and undemocratic. I also have no care for drummers and guitarists. I think it will dilute the brand, and de-value members. But, I suppose it's a business like anything else, although I belive you run the risk of loosing the community, and I think this has been evidenced elsewhere.
This post seems to me that you are either unhappy that you weren't considered or you don't like the moderator choices we have made. This really should have been in a PM to us if you had legitimate concerns. To be honest, I havent been around this week since the new mods were recruited as I have just moved house, so I apologize if I have missed anything crucial I haven't seen with regards to this topic. Basschat is not a democracy (Though we have asked for opinions occasionally), what democracy or votes you may have taken part in are essentially window dressing and does not significantly change the day to day running of the site. It is wholly owned by Ped and Kiwi, you sign up to the site on their terms. If you don't like it you don't have to come back! This was a thread dedicated to announcing new moderators and the selection process should not really up for public discussion. The mods and admins have more information on potential candidates then you do with regards to posting history and warnings, as such we can make a better informed decision. Recruiting mods through a popularity contest is not a sensible way of selecting candidates. I would like to think that the people who run a site with thousands upon thousands of unique visitors racked up would have a better insight into the Basschat "Brand" and membership. Remember mod selection also takes into account peoples personalities, some of us are soft, some of us are tough, some like me speak their mind (And as such I am probably the most unpopular moderator, but I have uses as part of the moderating team because of it!.) We need a mix of different people to help tackle different situations. My opinions are my own, the other mods and admins may disagree with me. I may have gotten it completely wrong. But this is the situation as I see it.

What is your favourite brand of strings? (Survey)
Shockwave replied to davidmpires's topic in General Discussion
Used to be Dean Markley Blue Steels, then had Rotosound for a while. Then Optima Golds, Then Status (Which were very good). But I have settled on Elixirs, very consistent quality. Great customer service and a fantastic sounding, long lasting string. -

Bassist available in London (For almost any genre.)
Shockwave replied to Shockwave's topic in Bassists Available
Yo. If you had read my post you could see quite clearly that I am in the middle of moving to London. Quite a busy and stressful time where replying to a PM about possibly joining a band is not my number one priority. I have just sat down after unpacking most of my stuff. I am not interested in your band as you are clearly not patient enough and go crying at a moments notice by creating a rant thread, which I have now deleted. -
Hey guys. I am having trouble finding a set of strings that are super long scale (As the Gibbo RD is 34 1/2 scale and has a string thru body.) And have a heavy gauge (Lightest being 050 .070 .085 .110/115). I have to make sure they can pass through the string ferrules. I was thinking maybe tapercore strings. But I have no real idea what I am looking for. Anyone with experience of the RD and strings? Cheers! Rob.
