1.
I should have a couple of spaces in my rack
Very much appreciated! Will try and bring a stand along as well not to take up your space!
2.
Im head of Music at a school in Somerset. One of my students had been showing interest in the bass (a lot of them do - funny that!), and asked if he could bring in the bass his dad had, and said he could use. He said it was really nice - but that gets said a lot when kids bring in all sorts of cheap 80's things. Anyway, he bought in a battered brown case, opened it up to show me a fretless Wal in pretty much mint condition. Its beautiful! He said he had never know his dad to play it, but 'he used to play in a band'... anyway, I suggested that maybe it would be best not to bring it in in the future and use one of the Yamahas I have at school... I'm still stunned!
Didnt know you were in Okehampton, I got married there just last Saturday at the town hall! (The Mrs comes from Broadwoodwidger) Somerset though? Bit of a commute everyday?
3.
3. A question about a 'For Sale' section: previously, we've had that in the 'Quiet Room/Foyer' area - is everyone cool with that arrangement again?
I was going to sell mine in the loud room. Mostly as there will be plenty of amps around to try it on! On other matters, is there anyone who does'nt mind me sullying their collection of basses by letting me putting my Grabber and SUB with them? I am unable to bring amps and last time I brought my Pedullas no one tried them out because I had no amp for them to plug into!
4.
Does anyone have a Jazz or Precision (or both!) that they're bored of and fancy sending to a new home? Think I need some more normal basses for demoing Barefaced cabs on t'interweb, don't need anything new/shiny and quite happy to have a Squier or suchlike. As long as it sounds good unplugged I'll be happy, electronics can be changed. And I'm ok with stupidly high actions and fat necks. Anyway, if you do, bring it along! I'll be interested to hear what everyone makes of the wee prototype I'm bringing along...
Well I have a Musicman Stingray SUB USA 4 String which I guess you can call a "Normal" bass if you fancy it? It's pretty cheap for what it is!
5.
Do the poles come covered, or is that a mod?
Its completely standard, I believe these turn black when they get older having started out quite dull anyway! Sounds great either way.
6. Re-written advert, posted pics and reduced price.
7. The HK 7 String (The same one as in the video) I bought was really shoddily made and played poorly. Sounded nice but that was all I could really give you a positive on.
8. May be bringing my Musicman Stingray SUB 4 to sell if anyone is interested
9. Hey guys. I helped out a friend on the weekend and bought a SUB Stingray when he really needed the money, now I need to see if I can get that back! If I cant get rid of at this price I will likely keep it. It's a standard black US made Musicman Stingray missing its pickguard. It has been gigged with scrapes on the body (Which have been filled in with what looks like black nail polish) and the usual paint missing at the headstock end. The truss rod is A-OK. One of the tuners is a little loose. Electronics are fine. Frets have plenty of life left in them. I have stripped the bridge down and given it a thorough clean, cleaned the fingerboard and headstock. I have also given it a basic setup and a brand new set of Picato nickelwound 105-45 strings. The bass sounds awesome, like every SUB I have had and tried they seem better sounding to my ears then true standard Stingrays. I have mislay-ed my camera so have to rely on dodgy phone pics for now. Hoping for local pickup from me in Sutton, London. Would prefer not to ship but will if buyer pays for shipping and accepts responsibility. £300 FIRM, Bank transfer or cash in hand. Will throw in a brand new unpadded gigbag. Rob.
10. Please read the FAQs at the top of the forum. You MUST set a price in all adverts. Also try and get the right part of the forum to post in next time. I have moved this to amp and cab classifieds section. Rob
11.
Mmm,didnt think an Item for trade needs a sale price! Have rules changed?
Yes they have. Theres big announcement threads in site issues and classifieds. Please follow them ASAP or I will delete the thread.
12. Ziphoblat you still need to put a price value on your cab as per forum rules, please do this asap. Also you must follow the 36 hour bump rule, merely deleting your previous bumps does not do you any favours!
13.
Yeah some charts for the original tunes with important parts scored out, for any covers I'm sure there are charts in the real book etc, we also like a free approach - improvising and seeing where it goes, it could be anything from odd time sigs to funk, swing, latin whatever...and sometimes yes just shouting a key...just enjoying making music. If you fancy it pm me and we'll set up a meet!
Ahh thats the problem, I cant read music! Ah well
14. Would love to do this, but not sure my skills are up to scratch. Do you use charts or anything? Or just shout a key and go with it?
15. Just gotten it back and pleased to say Martin did a great job. I like a nice bit of fret rattle when I play (But not too much!)and it was spot on! £35 is a bargain considering the prices other places charge in London. (Though admittedly not as good as Steve Baker at Electric Ladylands £10 specials, but hey I am not in Bristol anymore!) Had a nice discussion working out a refret for my Gibson RD and fingerboard refinish. Will probably be going back before the weekend!
16. Hmm looks like i'll be taking the Fender and Grabber as both the 7 string fretless and Gibson RD are going to be taken to a luthier friend of mine!
17. Hey guys. I have just received a 3 point Hipshot super tone bridge for my bass. My question is, did you remove the original threaded insert for the now redundant central bolt? What is the suggested way? Problem is, the threaded insert is really stuck in and I cant find a way to get it out without destroying the thread! Cheers! Rob.
18. Now reduced to just £38. FIRM. Get a bargain here folks!
19. Well, I have taken it to the gallery, see what happens eh! It would be nice to have a setup from a bass player!
20. Heya guys. Thanks for the recommendations so far. Sort of hoping it would be a luthier rather then a shop doing it. The Gallery is a bit far and when I visited for the first time the other day, the guy seemed more interested in his laptop then anything else.
21. Hey guys. I really want a professional to go over my Gibson Grabber, basically I want a damn fine setup. It is currently fairly decent action, however I reckon it could go lower and needs a better shim and possibly the nut to be cut down a bit. Anybody know someone who is very very good in London? Preferably in South London. But not a deal breaker. I have read the list in the repairs forum, but I want to go to someone to personally recommend me someone! Rob.
22. With the utmost respect I couldnt afford that pre-amp! Need something probably second hand, max I would spend would be £100! Pickups are $235 for the set.
23. Hey guys. Received a 7 string fret-less bass from German Ebay. It is actually quite impressive player, but I reckon it could be better! 35Inch scale. Kent Armstrong pups. Wilkinson hardware. D'addario strings. Anyway. Decided to ditch the Kent Armstrongs (Though they sound good, one of the screws is really badly stripped and try as I might will probably have to be broken to get out.) I have ordered some custom SGD Lutherie 7 string pickups. I have asked the guy to get me an aggressive Ken Smith Hi-Fi tone with exposed blades that are notched end to end. I have also ordered a new one piece hipshot bridge, the string spacing is right at 16.5mm. However will probably have to recess the bridge into the body to get the action low enough as there is no suitable low profile bridge suitable for this bass. The fretboard will lightly sanded to get rid of the current string marks and finished in epoxy to protect it. Thinking about getting some front facing inlays installed as well because I get really lost on something this big! Not sure what type of inlays as I find they look ugly on a lined fret-less bass. I also want to buy a preamp and was hoping on a Glock one, but the seller pulled out on the deal. Anyone got ideas on a 5 knob pre-amp?
24. Yup that's not a US one. Import Warlock shaped body. What does it say on the headstock? If it does not say "Made in USA" there then it is a class axe era Warlock, made in Korea. "La California edition"
25.
I would rather have to deal with time wasters, then see good honest members being left bad feedback because of a simple mistake, misunderstanding or bad accident.
Alternatively to the people who want Non transactional feedback I ask... Is it worth the cost to screw all those good honest members who are left bad feedback because of a simple mistake, misunderstanding, bad accident and screw the moderators who have to deal with fallout back and forth argument, just so you can have the convenience of not having to deal with 2nd+ occurrence time wasters? (This on the assumption you actually read the feedback thread in the first place) Remember, nothings going to stop people from Time wasting the first time. So you'll still get time wasters even if we allowed non transaction feedback.
