2. Damn, I would've jumped on that if I'd seen it sooner!

4. Position your fingers just behind and touching the fret rather than bang in the middle between frets - this will let you play with half as much pressure and let you play for much longer. I only discovered this tip yesterday and the difference was amazing! Also, if you're using steel rounds, switch to nickel or even half-rounds / pressure-wounds / flats. Some people also swear by Fast Fret, but I've never tried it.

PCB's

Eagle CAD make a free version of their software, although you need to download some parts libraries (links somewhere on diystompboxes). It can auto route your PCBs too. For simpler circuits or vero layouts, DIY Layout Creator is great.
6. I forgot to add, it also works perfectly with active basses. In fact it works even better with active as it sounds real heavy with a hot signal going into it. I'm busy this weekend but will try and find time to record a clip!
7. Bought this here not so long ago out of curiousity, but have decided it's not for me so would rather pass it on to fund more GAS induced purchases! It has 2 controls, blend and texture. Blend is a clean blend so you can have it full on fuzz or just a hair of distortion behind your clean bass sound. Texture is plain fuzz at the far right and nasty octave up fuzz at the far left. Because of the blend you can have the octave up fuzz (which sucks lows) and blend the lows back in from the clean signal. A nice trick I found was to play very softly high up on the neck with 60/40 blend and texture about halfway, it sounds like a guitar due to the octave up - then dig in hard and the clean blended sound then becomes relatively louder than the fuzz so it's like a bass kicks in to join the guitar - sound like two instruments! Here's the product page: http://www.freewebs.com/paisleypedals/paisleyquasar.htm Excellent condition (just 2 miniscule paint chips) and £80 new, yours for £45 posted!

9. Lots of people rave about the VMJ, I bought one hoping to upgrade my Yamaha RBX270F with something a bit nicer. I personally couldn't get on with the ebanol fingerboard, and it didn't play or sound as nice as the Yamaha, so I sold the Squier and kept the Yam. Made me realise what a great instrument my old Yam is, it was my first ever bass too!
10. A Markbass rep posted on Talkbass today and said the synth was still being tweaked and refined, so don't expect to see it for a while yet. He didn't mention any of the other pedals though.
11. Lee4 - your avatar is like an optical illusion. I thought it looked like an old bald man with a big nose, pointy chin and wobbly neck until I realised there was a hat!
12. I've just been experimenting too. I've always had Status half-rounds on my fretless, which are actually ground down roundwounds, but look and feel just like flats - they sound great on fretless and not a bad price either. Then I tried out a set of D'Addario Chromes recently on my Squier VM P-Bass. I'm not a huge fan, but apparently they sound a million times better after they've mellowed out from a few weeks of playing. I'm probably gonna put rounds back on it and use it for pickstyle punk sounds because I'm really digging the sound of my newly acquired Warmoth SG with Dark Star pickups after I strung it with Pyramid Gold flats. These flats are expensive (£40 delivered on eBay) but I reckon they're worth it. A decent set of flats lasts years anyway! There are many Talkbass posts singing their praises, they sound good straight away and don't need to be broken in like the Chromes.
13. Most I've seen use the jack socket as an extra hole and re-locate the jack to the side of the body.
14. I'll be having the Blue Steels people, but the D'Addarios are still available to whoever was next in the queue. If I find I don't like these then I'll put them back up here and keep 'em in the family!
15. Bump - surprised there's been no interest in the Diamond, both will go on eBay by the weekend if they don't go here!
16. Are they Dean Markley Blue Steels (not heard of Sadwosky Blue Steels)? I might give em a go if they're not too dead'n'dirty!
17. You'd also need a tap-tempo tremolo to get the pulsing effect in time with the beat.
18. The Squier 5-string P has jazz pickups in it which means it's not really a P anymore! The Yamaha BB415 is a great bass for not a lot of dough, 5 strings in a PJ configuration, meant to sound pretty close to a Fender too.
19. By the way, if you don't have the manual for this I've got one that I found after I sold mine! Free to whoever wants it.
20. Any clips Tayste? I'm thinking it's a bit too big for my board, but some nothing gets a GAS fire going like some decent soundclips!

22. Sorry, looking for cash only! No case, but it does have the original carboard box it came in, plus that inside another similar size box for extra protection.
