1. I've just been experimenting too. I've always had Status half-rounds on my fretless, which are actually ground down roundwounds, but look and feel just like flats - they sound great on fretless and not a bad price either. Then I tried out a set of D'Addario Chromes recently on my Squier VM P-Bass. I'm not a huge fan, but apparently they sound a million times better after they've mellowed out from a few weeks of playing. I'm probably gonna put rounds back on it and use it for pickstyle punk sounds because I'm really digging the sound of my newly acquired Warmoth SG with Dark Star pickups after I strung it with Pyramid Gold flats. These flats are expensive (£40 delivered on eBay) but I reckon they're worth it. A decent set of flats lasts years anyway! There are many Talkbass posts singing their praises, they sound good straight away and don't need to be broken in like the Chromes.
2. Most I've seen use the jack socket as an extra hole and re-locate the jack to the side of the body.
3. I'll be having the Blue Steels people, but the D'Addarios are still available to whoever was next in the queue. If I find I don't like these then I'll put them back up here and keep 'em in the family!
4. Bump - surprised there's been no interest in the Diamond, both will go on eBay by the weekend if they don't go here!
5. Are they Dean Markley Blue Steels (not heard of Sadwosky Blue Steels)? I might give em a go if they're not too dead'n'dirty!
6. You'd also need a tap-tempo tremolo to get the pulsing effect in time with the beat.
7. The Squier 5-string P has jazz pickups in it which means it's not really a P anymore! The Yamaha BB415 is a great bass for not a lot of dough, 5 strings in a PJ configuration, meant to sound pretty close to a Fender too.
8. By the way, if you don't have the manual for this I've got one that I found after I sold mine! Free to whoever wants it.
9. Any clips Tayste? I'm thinking it's a bit too big for my board, but some nothing gets a GAS fire going like some decent soundclips!
10. Knocked a fiver off the Diamond Comp...
11. Sorry, looking for cash only! No case, but it does have the original carboard box it came in, plus that inside another similar size box for extra protection.
12. As said earlier, Epiphone EB-0, or for a bit more money, the Ibanez Artcore AGB200. Also try searching for short scale bass in the basschat classifieds or ebay an see what turns up!
13. I searched around on Talkbass looking for the best cans around for practicing bass with, and these were probably the most recommended. Then I found out I hate practicing with headphones and would rather just play with my amp at low volume instead and sod the neighbours! These are top quality headphones, not even broken in, in mint condition complete with leather bag. Cost me over £100, yours for £75 posted! SOLD!
14. I too have come to find I don't really need compression anymore, so I'm selling my Diamond Comp. However, the Okko looks intriguing, let me know if you're up for trading them!
15. Yeah, eBay fees on a £3k bass will be pretty extortionate, I always try to sell gear here first. That way there's also slightly more chance that I'll be able to buy it back in the future if it goes up for sale again!
16. Shameless plug, but I have a mint condition Diamond Compressor for sale if anyone's interested!
17. Oh no she won't, I thought I could afford it but alas not this month. Have a bump on me!
18. ALL NOW SOLD Diamond Compressor This is a great compressor, it can hang with the best of them, including the Demeter Compulator and EBS Multicomp. It also can run at 9-24v, the higher voltages giving plenty of headroom for high output basses (I ran mine at 18v with a Diago voltage doubling adaptor). The frequency response starts to roll off gently below 60Hz though, I've never noticed it (most cabs also roll off around the same frequency) but those of you with 5 stringers and monster cabs that need those subsonics should probably look elsewhere! I'm just selling it as I've come to find I prefer to play without compression. It's in perfect condition with original box, barely used and not a scratch on it, just some velcro than can be removed upon request (I'll use rubbing alcohol to get rid of any glue gunk). I don't think you can get them on these shores, but from the US they are $209 + shipping + taxes from Tonefactor where I originally purchased it. Harmony Central Reviews £110 posted, or £120 including Diago 18v adaptor (fits on a regular 9v daisy chain to give 18v at one of the tips). Guyatone TZ-2 Fuzz (Faulty) This Univox Superfuzz clone sounds awesome, really intense and cutting, but it does drop a bit of low end. I took it apart as I was curious, but when I put it back together it no longer worked! It's probably something simple like a loose wire or something, but I don't have the time patience to fix it as I was going to sell it on anyway! This was in A1 condition (also includes box) before meddled with it, hopefully somebody can restore it to it's former glory! 19. She will be mine. Oh yes, she will be mine!
20. I'd just spotted this and was about to post it... no bids yet! I'd buy it if I had money to throw away, it's a great conversation piece!
21. Schwing! I've thought about getting a red tort plate on my white P too...
