1. The opposite usually happens to me whenever I take a pedal apart!
2. Just looked it up in the manual, the graphs show that the MiBass 2.0 is 400W RMS at 4ohms, 250W RMS at 8ohms. Therefore you should be fine, but my advice about listening for the cab being over stressed still applies!
3. I have tried all of those. Brite Flats and the D'Addarios are similar in that they are not a true flatwound, they are rounds ground down to be smooth. D'Addarios are a bit rougher and brighter than the GHS. I like Brite Flats on fretless, but now using Status half rounds on there as they are cheaper and easier to get hold of... and perhaps even better. I LOVE Pyramid flats though. Those and TI's are my favourite flatwounds ever. Pyramids feel a bit more solid, slippery, and have a mellower sound than the TIs. I've not tried them on a shortie, but I would be tempted go Pyramid. They are expensive though, similar price to TIs, but they will last forever(ish)!
4. Fingers crossed they make a TTE500 without any yellow in it, and I might be tempted to get one!
5. You might be ok if your band isn't very loud, but you could knacker the cab if you run it at full volume. Listen carefully and you can tell when the cab is distorting, then don't turn up beyond that point! If you want small and light, but able to take a lot of punishment, I'd be looking at a Barefaced super compact, or a pair of those Ashdown cabs instead of one. Perhaps try it with one cab and add a second if you feel it's not giving you enough?
6. These are also good for reverse polarity pedals that don't like being on a daisy chain. I use one with an old school fuzz to great effect!
7. I bought this to try out in my SBBM Ray4, but ended up preferring the more agressive trebly tone of the stock pre. It has only seen half an hour of use, the wires to the battery snap have been cut (which is necessary to fit it), but I've chucked in a bit of heat shrink tubing to help you make a tidy join. I've also added a sticky backed foam pad to the underside to prevent the PCB from shorting out on any foil backed control cavities or covers. So, pretty much as new, with some, er, 'upgrades'! Cost £45 posted from eBay [s]£30 posted to you[/s] SOLD Get in quick in you can receive it tomorrow as I'm going down the post office in a bit! 8. You might even find the LB30 to be loud enough for gigging with two of those cabs! Going 4 ohms will squeeze a bit more power from the Trace. Swapping an 8ohm 2x12 for a 4ohm 2x12 would only give you a very small increase in output... but adding another 8ohm cab as discussed WILL give a big volume bump, because as well as having extra power from the amp, you are doubling the surface area of the cones.
9. Combining what's been on my board for ages now with a few choice upgrades:

Polytune (need - currently got a Pitchblack)
G-Lab Wowee Bass Wah (need)
Team Awesome Fuzz Machine (got)
Catalinbread SFT / Solidgold FX Beta (got - undecided which I like best, maybe use both )
COG Grand Tarkin (need - currently using a BBM)
Boss ODB-3 (got - not got the greatest rep, but all the haters have obviously never tried it with a BB or Stingray into a valve amp and sealed cab )
Earthquaker Devices Speaker Cranker (got - nice dirty boost, replaced my Phat Phuk B )
MXR Carbon Copy (got - just used for oscillation , so could substitute with a Malekko delay or something else wild sounding)
Blackout Effectors Whetstone Phaser (need - to replace my Small Stone)
Oh, and a VT Bass if I have to go direct!
10. If anyone on here asks about wiring harnesses for Precision / Jazz basses, there is usually just one answer. KiOgon! I bought this from forum member KiOgon last year, tested it out for a bit then put it away again. So hardly used, and since it has solderless connections, it hasn't been messed about with and is a doddle to fit. This one features KiOgon's take on Fender's Greasebucket tone control, as found on the new American Special basses. Basically, a standard tone control ends up boosting the bass and low mids as you roll off the top end; this circuit rolls of the highs without affecting the lows. This way you can tame some of the shrill top end without it sounding too muddy. [s]£20 posted[/s] SOLD
11. From what I hear they're all rather old school when it comes to this sort of thing, best to give them a ring!
12. Yeah, picked it up in their 21% off sale last weekend! Only ended up costing me £90 delivered. And Sibob already has first dibs - I was about to sell it to him before changing my mind! I'm looking out for a Heil PR-40 mic, if/when I get one I shall record some clips.
13. I finally got mine. The verdict, comparing it to the first version SFT which is it's nearest competitor: - The Beta has deeper lows and a slight built in bass boost that you can't dial out. This makes even the G string on my P-Bass thump, which it hasn't done before even with the SFT. - The Beta can take hot basses without farting out no problem. The SFT needs (IMHO) to be run at 18V to give it a bit more headroom, but the Beta is happy at 9V. - Running the Beta at 18V doesn't change the volume or tone very much, I thought it did increase the clarity though in the upper mids / treble. - The Beta still keeps it lows and is useable at high gain settings, where the SFT turns to mush. - The SFT has a lot more midrange presence, the Beta sounds a bit scooped in comparison. Overall I think I prefer the SFT, but after playing the Beta again today I'm undecided, it depends on the amp/bass/desired tone which I prefer at any particular moment!
14. They do more than Jazz basses too: For those prices, I assume they are just hand assembling off the shelf parts rather than crafting the bodies and necks themselves.
15. If it's that punk style played with a pick you're after, the VT is a great choice.
16. Did you catch sight of this one in the classifieds? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/232491-sandberg-vm-custom-zebrano [Img]http://www.bridgeworksuk.com/basschat/VM01.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
17. Vintage style germanium fuzz with modern tweaks. Adjust the bias and input impedance to suit your bass and tone, works great with actives as well. No low end loss if set correctly, sounds best at low gain like a thick furry overdriven amp pushed to the limit. You don't see these about very often these days, and this is the original version before the builder started putting them in bigger boxes as he was having a hard time squeezing everything in! Cutting back on my pedal collection, and sticking with my TAFM for my fuzz requirements. Great condition, velcro on the bottom, comes with original box. £75 posted - NOW SOLD
18. The tiniest bass wah there is! The size of a standard Boss pedal, yet surprisingly easy to manage. Great for those of you with limited pedal board space. True bypass too! I am however stripping my effects right back to a handful of pedals, board space is no longer an issue and I fancy a G-Lab wah, so this one is up for grabs! Very little use, looks like new, comes with original box. SOLD
19. This is the most versatile wah / envelope filter on the planet. So many options, however I find I just stick to my favourite wah preset so am looking to go simpler with a G-Lab Wowee wah instead. This has two filters in parallel, with a clean blend and built in drive circuit, all analogue but with digital control, presets and software interface for PC/Mac. For example you can set one filter up as a bandpass wah and the other one as a fixed lowpass filter to mix in the low end. It has some unique features as well such as being able to open the filter automatically the higher the note you play, or have it triggered when you bend a note. Very little use, never gigged, no velcro, mint condition with box. 20. These are so good I'm tempted to buy it even though I already have one!
21. I had a BB415 and note have a BB1025X. The P pickups on the BB's are fatter and darker than what you'd find on a Precision. I preferred the brighter sound of a real Precision pickup to the ceramic one in the 4 series, but the alnico one in the 10 series sounds amazing, definitely worth the upgrade. To answer your question though, what kind of sound are after? Precisions can cop a lot of tones, from rounds played with a pick with the tone control all the way up, to fingerstyle with flats with the tone rolled off. If it were me, I would try and find a way keep both! The P strung with flats for the real deal vintage P sound, and the BB with rounds for its awesome rock growl when both pickups are on!
22. The sound I just got playing my BB into an SFT into my Ashdown CTM15 just ten minutes ago.
23. I contacted Prymaxe about the shipping and they have reinstated the lower price shipping option! $15 and takes around 5 days, bargain. I bought a couple of pedals from them when they were doing 21% off everything last weekend. Top tip - the discount codes don't apply to all brands because some makers enforce minimum selling prices. However, if you use the live chat and talk to the staff they might give you an alternative code to use!
24. Original review thread with clips! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/38642-earthbound-audio-supercollider-oscillating-beast
