1. And the shades... OMG the shades!

3. Chris, you can come to the South East and/or Herts bashes now that you live in London I've finally got round to collecting Roland Rock's photos from here and the Bass Relay thread, collating them and copying the relevant captions into a separate entry in my music blog: http://wp.me/p2ZbyY-hi Any additional body text or corrections etc. welcome, as always - just let me know
4. There was at least one BC member who had set himself exactly this challenge, but I can't remember his name at the moment. I hope he sees this thread and replies Me, I'm having enough trouble playing acceptably in the way that's natural to me, and I can definitely forget about ever trying to play "the wrong way round". I'm in awe of you guys...
5. Thanks Nik! I've just tweeted this - and the number of "guests" to this thread has duly shot up Some of us west Londoners are hoping to attend too, although we can't confirm as yet
6. I'll tweet this thread to our followers some time tomorrow
7. I've pinned this thread - please change the title and edit the first post to reflect the date and place agreed I'll tweet this in due course
8. When you guys have agreed on the date, please change the title of this thread to reflect it, and I'll tweet it to our followers.
9. Some shots from the band's show at Surya on 25th May: https://flic.kr/s/aHsjXT8sdN
10. We'll create a dedicated thread in due course, and I'll pin it, and make sure everybody hears about it
11. Thanks It's now proudly sporting a set of Chromes, but I haven't seen a single moment of sunshine to take some decent pictures. The "new-style" Warwick bridge is awesome, however
12. Last Saturday's gig at The Fox and Duck in Richmond: https://www.flickr.com/photos/bluejay_my_photos/sets/72157644873567844
13. New Warwick Corvette 5 - provisional photos, to be updated once I've replaced the rounds with D'Addario Chromes, and as soon as the sun deigns to shine on my flat for a little while and give me enough natural light for a decent bass-porn photoshoot...
14. We're working on it! In the meantime, come along to the Herts Bass Bash on 6th July
15. Another Spice of Life gig, last night, 16/05/14. https://www.flickr.c...57644712498324/
16. I would recommend getting a proper lefty EUB as opposed to converting. However, I have done both - I converted a cheap HB from righty to lefty (flipped the bridge upside down, filed the bridge grooves so the strings sit correctly, filed the nut, reversed the spacing bracket, etc.) and then I also bought a lefty 5-string upright (NS NXT5). Converting a righty isn't hard, but the job needs to be done properly or you will hit some niggles deriving from the work - strings buzzing, dodgy action, etc. Having a professional do the work will obviously help, but also add to the total cost.
17. If you guys prepare some text to go with a selection of these photos, I can create a blog entry and publish it on Bluejay's Music Blog (under your names, not mine). You could create a photobucket subfolder with a choice of the best from the pics you posted above, and email me a word file with the text, and I can do the rest
18. Guys and gals, I've created a Facebook event for those of you who "do" Fb - it's here: http://www.facebook.com/events/533703606734652/ I'll be using the event as a reminder, sharing it periodically, but if you're on FB and plan to attend, please join the FB event too, as well as adding your name on this thread. Thanks!
19. Second gig was at Water Rats at the end of April https://flic.kr/s/aHsjXnvmDQ
20. I saw the news on BBC online yesterday, and I'm sure it says "something" about Metallica, or about Glasto, but I can't quite decide exactly what I grew up (and then grew old!) with Metallica as the heavy metal band, and always saw Glasto as an indie/lightweight/totally uninteresting festival (the opposite of Donington in its heyday), so this news is now upsetting all my prejudices! I guess I better concentrate on Megadeth, then
21. You have already listed most of what is available... usually EUBs don't sound remotely like DBs and that's a fact of life and the price to pay for portability. Your list doesn't include KK baby basses, which have a pleasant, traditional look but are smaller and have the advantages of EUBs. Since they're all built to customers' specs, "native" lefty isn't a problem. I play an NS Design NXT5 - native lefty, bought new from Thomann - and a reversed Harley Benton, the cheapest I found when I wanted to experiment with turning the bridge upside-down and filing the nut. Feel free to post your question in the DB/EUB forum too, there are some veritable fountains of knowledge there
22.
The answer was along the lines: 'We will be getting these in stock but we don't know when or how much they will cost. . .'
I'd like to try a 5-string set on one of my Warwicks too, so please keep us posted if you receive the new strings, Barrie
23. Happy TU80 user here Although it sometimes struggles with the low B on my 5ers, then again so do clip-ons. The trick is to wait until the reading stabilises.
