2. Excellent, Steve, long time no see! And yes, Shell can definitely play bass Potentially stupid question: I don't remember seeing guitars and drums/drummer(s) being mentioned among - respectively - the gear and the attendees lists. What's the plan on that front? I'm going to be there. I'll add my name to the list at the very last moment
3. Forgot to (re-)post these - D'Addario Chromes on a 5:
4. D'Addario Chromes, definitely. Oh, and - best thread derailment of the week
5. Yesterday's gig at a very well attended Hanwell Carnival: https://www.flickr.com/photos/bluejay_my_photos/sets/72157645341298033/
6. That's brilliant, love it, and the prominent Marshall amp right in the middle of the shot! Perhaps you could add the name of your band in the thread title? That way you can add pics and any footage on here as and when
7. Those blue and pink lights reflected on Jack's shades make him look like an alien
8. A few pics from last Saturday's gig at Proud Camden: https://www.flickr.com/photos/bluejay_my_photos/sets/72157644861012877/
9. If we extend the test to too many basses, the results will become extremely confusing IMO. If we were doing, say, a Warwick Corvette test, I don't think I'd like to see other models included in the test even if their pickup configuration were to be JJ or $$ like most Corvettes.
10. If you're in the area and haven't decided where to watch the match tonight, come along and shake a leg before sitting down in front of the big screen Early start and early finish.
11. I've just created a Facebook event for this bash - feel free to share and add your names as participants! http://www.facebook.com/events/1424704934480412/
12. Good stuff. I've moved this thread to Live Photos and Videos, and added your name in the title. Feel free to post more videos in this thread (and in that case, remove "at the 100 Club" from the title and place the info in the first post
13. LOL I can't wait Joel replied that there is no rush and we can get in touch at our leisure, which presumably means he'll wait to see how many pics he receives before deciding in which BGM issue to publish them
14.
I'm surprised nobody has suggested a 'Basschat Magazine' yet... Lots of players, people who have access to gear who work in music retail or within the industry (or could include reviews of gear by basschatters playing other basschatters basses... That would be an interesting twist on the usual reviews!) and we have designers and educators. Not such a far-fetched idea!
Except that it would need a lot of editorial work by an entire team to organise it all - for free! - and could obviously only be published online, on here, as printing and distribution are immensely expensive nowadays, compared with any returns.
15. I have received the following message from fellow BCer and Bass Guitar Magazine editor Joel McIver, and he's asked me if I could please share it on the forum. Here it is:
I'd like to invite the Basschat members to submit a pic of themselves plus a few words about their bass/amps/FX/bands/recordings/website for inclusion in BGM and online. Please contact me at [email protected] with the subject line 'Me and my bass'
I have asked him whether there is a deadline for taking part, and will let you know his answer in due course Edit: amended the thread title to avoid tautology!
16. Have you tried also posting in the other section? http://basschat.co.uk/forum/25-musicians-wanted/
17. Stu is very down to Earth, so it's not that exceptional to see him give masterclasses to small groups. He's been to my former music school in west London several times, given masterclasses and then stopped to speak to us afterwards, and he's been at the London Bass Guitar Show in the past (at the Hartke stand when I met him), relaxedly chatting to punters like me. (He even said he remembered me from one of his masterclasses at the school.) If you keep track of him, you'll probably be able to see him in person again
18. This is almost unfeasibly cool Have a great one and yes, please post photos and any footage you may get
19. Showreel vid for Kareña and her band http://youtu.be/ufK4X33HynE
20. The audience - and the landlord - at the Barley Mow in Shepperton were in a celebratory mode this past Saturday 07/06 https://www.flickr.com/photos/bluejay_my_photos/sets/72157644683090327/ And here is that video again - Quo cover with.. er, three guitarists http://youtu.be/QojmLHWgBMw
21.
You think it's hard reading it, you want to try moderating it!
This
22. Epic gig! I'll re-post this in the Live Photos & Vids section later, together with some pics I'm working on as we speak
23. Can't compete with Blablas' gorgeous stable of instruments, but as promised, here are some more pics of my new 'wick And these are my three natural beauties in different shades
24. A pound of what?
25. Been looking at this thread but I agree with fellow Londoners - we'll have to have a Southern DB Bash. In the meantime, tomorrow I'll tweet the Northern Bash with details. I've pinned this topic - could the OP please edit the title to mention date and place? Thanks Edit: Excellent, thanks Owen!
