1. It is a custom-made Torzal Twist by Little Guitar Works :- http://littleguitarworks.com/instruments/custom-instruments/
2. Next time you're nice and relaxed in the bath sing a slow gliss up and down till you find the pitch that your bathroom resonates at . Then sing a few short notes at that pitch and listen to the ring of the reverb . Next guess a fifth up . You'll know when it is in tune when it rings . Same for the octave . Finally sing " Scarborough Fair " tuned to the room . This is an easy way to train ear/voice connection . There is a Rock Vocals video on YT by Tim Bogert .
3. Search for a mixer stand or a laptop stand , maybe including DJ in the search . A snare drum stand may even work .
4. I also used to have a cream coloured one but it got stolen . - Just found a close-up of the headstock logo from the de-fret process . The fretboard had been dyed black and subsequent sanding revealed a nice piece of rosewood . I seem to remember the bass cost less than the tapewounds I put on it !
5. I don't know anything about them either , but here's one I defretted earlier ; It is indeed supremely weighty .
6. Steinberg have just announced that their DAWs are now compatible with Windows 10 . They claim that they had identified the problem and approached Microsoft , who released a patch in the latest Windows Updates . - So , other DAWs may work better now too . https://www.steinber...ws-10-3379.html https://www.steinber...windows-10.html
7. Well I,ve never heard it called that before ! Its great to learn something new . It crops up a lot in the fourth bar of the old eight-bar blues form as a substitute for the IV , returning to the I on bar five . The basic feel of the eight-bar form I refer to would be ; I I I I / I7 I7 I7 I7 / IV IV IV IV / IV IV IV IV / I I I I / V V V V / I I IV IV / I I V V Need Your Love So Bad , for example goes : ( "A" section , not "B" ) I I I I / I7 I7 I7 I7 / IV IV IV IV / #IV #IV #IV #IV / I I vi vi / ii ii V V / I I IV IV / I I V V So a horse and a backdoor in one evolution ! Edited to say that the #IV s should of course be diminished in the example .
8. An even simpler introduction ;
9. You could also just pedal an open D through both bars ( and even the next two bars as well ) in the last head and give the left hand a rest . Simplest is best .
10. Call it Stormy Monday ( but Tuesday is just as bad ). - Stormy Monday by T-Bone Walker 1947
11. Synthesizing: 10 Ragas to a Disco Beat by Charanjit Singh http://www.theransom...h-dies-aged-75/ Does that qualify ?
12. And the OP spelt the man's name wrong in the tag . Maybe he will claim it is like that so anybody using the same wrong spelling in the future will find it . Maybe . Maybe not .
13. A local charity , backed by the government-funded Youth Service down here in Jersey , has just acquired a Patron ( and part-time tutor ) . http://jerseyevening...e-youth-patron/
14. Does your Mother know ? Why must I be misunderstood ?
15. Steinberg is having the same problem with it's hardware and Windows 10 . They claim they are working with Miicrosoft to fix it . www.steinberg.net/nc/en/support/knowledgebase_new/show_details/kb_show/product-compatibility-info-regarding-microsoft-windows-10 "The issues our hardware shows when changing the sample rate is only related to WDM audio applications. If the sample rate of the device is changed, applications which utilize WDM audio (e.g. Windows Media player, Windows System Sounds or iTunes) cannot play/record sounds. Only a switch back to the initial sample rate addresses this. Audio applications like Nuendo and Cubase which offer to use ASIO drivers do not show this behaviour!"
16. The other night I was idly musing over chalices and blades , grails and lances , guns and roses , cups and cones , keys and locks , crosses and roses..... ( that sort of thing ) when the lyric " beyond the rim of the starlight " popped into my mind . Somewhere I have a book of film and tv themes that I got in the 70s which has the lyrics , but rather than find it I looked them up on t'internet . Which led me to the wiki pages ; https://en.wikipedia..._from_Star_Trek and Bing Crosby's first solo No. 1 ; https://en.wikipedia...y_Green_song%29 When I got back into playing music again (piano ) after 25yrs five years ago I chose the Star Trek theme as a first DAW experiment because I liked the harmonic progression and I thought it would be a fun choice for messing around with synths again , plus the book was near the top of the pile at the time , so the changes and lyrics were not too deeply hidden in the memory vaults . Nice changes . Johnny Green also wrote " Body And Soul " . https://en.wikipedia...ki/Johnny_Green
17. And the correct answer was ;
18. The changes of this 1931 tune were borrowed exactly for a very popular tune 35 years later . Can you guess what the 60s tune was ? ( Start 50 seconds in , after the intro . ) - Once you get it , you hear it by bar 3 .
19. Reminds me of the old joke about the drummer and the girl singer who fall off a cliff at the same time . The drummer hits the ground first because he can't help speeding up whereas the girl singer has to stop everything halfway through when she gets lost .
20. The heat stamped / scorched method is called pyrography . I did this fake soundhole rosette with a cheap kit as a first try experiment . ( On the upper home defret Stagg . Lower is a Harley Benton Ubass ) The kit is basically a soldering iron with interchangeable tips which have different patterns . eg.
