  1. NS Design EUBs have no cover over the truss rod adjuster at the headstock . Left out on the stand , dust can collect in the hole because it is upright . An expanding foam type earplug works to plug the hole .
  2. At 5:15 Christian McBride asks him " Who are your favourite bass players ? " . He replies with one name .... Place bets now ....
  3. I heard that the line in Don McLean's " American Pie " about " bad news on my doorstep " referred to the headline on a freshly delivered newspaper announcing the death of Buddy Holly - the day the music died .
  4. Yes , once you have felt the organic wooden box resonating against your gut you don't want to go back ☺️. My NS eub stays in the case , it comes nowhere near in terms of playing satisfaction to my cheap chinese upright worth a quarter of the monetary value .
  5. And a handy source of fretboard oil on a budget is walnut oil from the supermarket . Woodturners use it on salad bowls because it is foodsafe .
  6. Simon Kirke's daughter brought a ukulele home fro school ...
  7. No snorting here , I love my fretless too. Picato black nylon tape wounds here , bit of a game getting the E to fit through the bridge involving trimming the silks and compressing with mole grips but it was worth it . ( Deko , hence the wrong label . )
  8. The old electrical tape trick for a laugh on my Squier Musicmaster ;
  9. Yes , the compressor is only available if you use the Editor via a connected device .
  10. Yamaha THR10 . Practice amp that can run off batteries with bass presets , computer external usb soundcard , and an audio interface for recording all in one . I keep mine permanently connected to a laptop for better audio .
  11. I made this from a women's belt from a charity shop . Picture was taken before trimming to size . hth . £2 plus entertainment value watching the shop assistants watching me loitering in the women's clothing section .😄
  12. Yes , I was wrong . His grandmother played it on piano apparently ; https://quizzclub.com/trivia/where-did-the-rock-band-deep-purple-get-the-inspiration-for-its-name/answer/286782/
  13. Deep Purple , of course . Blackmore's mother had it in her record collection .
  14. Part Two .... the old Rephrase trick ... Could anyone out there with better search skills than a dinoaur please see if they can find anything more about the ; Arrangers Composers and Copyists Section of the Musicians Union than I could please ? 🧐 The only results I have had came from the search engine at muhistory.com The section was formed in 1940 and funding was withdrawn in 1951 . That is all I can find . I understand it no longer exists . If a rubber stamp like the one in the previous post was handed in to a museum or archive with no other information , then what could they find out about it online ? Just curious . 🕵️‍♂️
  15. The challenge is ..... ... see if you can find the purpose of this rubber stamp from when pianos were made from recycled elephants . ( I have tried Google , and the answer is not easy to find . )
  16. Phew , relief ! Thankyou Andy . I discovered the magazine the other day whilst looking for evidence of keytar ownership for the keytar thread on here . Another advert from the same ... : And could the guy cutting the tape in the earlier pic be Carl Palmer ? Or Paul White from Sound On Sound magazine , maybe ?
  17. I have no idea what to reply. 😨 ( I have autism , you see )
  18. Similar story from the Classical world . One critic spots the same slightly out of tune note on supposedly different pianos :
  19. Just dropping this here for reference , Music U.K. ( trade magazine ) July 1984
  20. .... And there's more ... Does anyone know who the guy cutting the tape is , and the lady with the trumpet ?
  21. Lets not overlook the man who wrote some Free songs :
  22. For your requirements maybe consider a Yamaha THR 10 . It is an interface and practice amp in one and comes with Cubase . ( Cubase is owned by Yamaha now ). The 10 model is more expensive but has presets for bass . Plus it can run off batteries , which compliments the beauty of a laptop .
  23. Funny enough , I discovered this yesterday in the archaeology dept . July '84 .
