Since you ask, here's my bit. I hope it translates, but my English is not as good as it may seem (do not underestimate this bit!!). When I have to choose in this type of situations, I have this set of questions that to a surprisingly little degree are about music, like: - If you decide to go for it, and if that in hindsight seems to have been the wrong decision, can you live with yourself? - If you decide to keep your job, or find a better one, can you live with the thought of never having tried living off music? - Have you really set up a really realistic budget that gives you real confidence you'll really survive? Really? - Have you taken a hard look at yourself and questioned your reasons and reasonability in this, as well as your realism? - Do you [b]know[/b] that you have all the resources to be able to make this work, or are you living in a bubble of hope? To me, this type of questions soon results in a feeling about whether the thing is nonsense or not. Many projects and ideas are dropped, but I did start a musical career once, and gave it up once. As a background carpet, here's my experience: Wanted to be a musician in classical and rock. Saw that way too many educated musicians struggled financially. Decided to have something to fall back on and took an education in the field of leadership, with subjects like law, economics, psychology and sociology (I thought that that would help me later, and it did). Then started studying classical music (rock education didn't exist yet in college then), and made sure I got a complete study in the pedagogical side so I also could fall back on teaching as well. Worked as a teacher and had many small jobs like depping, playing music to theatre plays, composing stuff for theatre, some recording, some marketing and some gear responsibility. Total income hardly worth mentioning, and most came from teaching. Then moved to Norway, and was forced to decide on a future. Worked as a teacher for two more years whilst thinking and discussing with the wife, and then decided it was best to live where I live, and that that was more important that hunting for a musical career (which in my case would mean to move to Oslo). This automatically meant my planned musical career was not to be. Since '86 I've only had regular jobs, and I've only depped sometimes. Personally, i got the best time not from music as I expected, but from having my own company within sales, and doing everything that needs to be done there - so much fun I was able to decline a great job offer in marketing a few years back, that would give a much better income, but where I would be someone else's slave again. Well, you guys certainly have bigger mouths than insights. The headstock totally gives it away. It's the new Freudsic that will be released next year, realising last year's Precise Bass was just that: precise. They're slanting the body so standing waves have no grip on it, and as a result, the middle and treble finally will be audible. Solution: It's a 2013 Freudsic Auditory Bass best, bert

[/quote] Yup, some are pricey, but then again the apps perform wonderfully and can be had for peanuts. There are different cables for the iPhones and iPads, and I'm working on a list right now, but quickly and unfinishedly: 1) iRiffPort cable uses digital dock contact. Good sound quality. Expensive. Works with at least 4 different amps and their eventual effect pedals. 2) iRig cable uses analogue port (the combines input /headphone out). Lesser sound quality. Cheaper. Works with at least 2. 3) AmpKit cable uses analogue port. Cheap. Don't know yet what it works with other than the Peavey amp. I'll get back to this with a more worked out overview. best, bert

As to impact, I think I know a little, but still not enough. A friend of mine had undone his belt and slept lying in the backseats when the car crashed doing roughly 50 mph. My friend was in a coma for half a year or so, and has sustained damages for life - unable to work or move freely, and unable to attract females. Myself, I had some plank in the car once. Had to brake to avoid a front to front collision. The plank stopped inside the other car, luckily avoiding both me and the other driver on its path. Carefully strapping any gear or using real solid prison bar systems sounds like a great idea to me. best, bert

Sorry, I can't love it, as I don't know how it's done. That said, I've loved the low end as long as I can remember, and have used every opportunity after that to move the wires on every bass I could get my hands on. As relayed earlier, I "taught" a friend how to play "Games Without Frontiers" without being able to play the bass myself. Even was the "bassist" at one or two very short performances when a band's real bassist wasn't there. That was a matter of remembering where to place my fingers, and not actual bass playing. Invested in my first own bass last October or so, making my attempts history one of nine months. best, bert Did I say I'm loving it?

I don't know whether it's the OS workload or the presence of too many background programs which one can't shut down without a degree in Android, but reportedly it's not the main processor that is the problem here. Maybe a specialised side processor - if present. Idunno. It was interesting to hear that people are satisfied with the iRig / AmpliTube combination. I may try that. Since we're talking apps and cables anyway, how about trying to get an overview? Unless it's been done here before, that is. OK, so they're the most important band of my life, but that doesn't mean I have to endure everything they did the last fourty years after a fantastic burst between '71 and '74. I'm definitely not even going to check it out, as I've zero belief that there's anything remotely interesting on there. Relayer - now that's a different story! And songs like Siberian Khatru! Awesome! I even like Going for the One, Tormato, ABWH and Union as well as some 90125, so it's not as if I'm impossible to please.
