1. I can't seem to edit the original price or trade value, which included my EBS TD660, which has now been sold, but still for sale are my lovely EBS Neoline (neodymium) cabs. Read on! 1) Neo 410 cab, paid over a grand for it new less than a year ago, only gigged 3 times so not even run in, excellent condition, with Roqsolid padded cover. 2) Neo 115 cab, very good condition, with Roqsolid padded cover. Amazing gear, but I've got to downsize. (Don't feel too sorry for me - I've still got a TD650 and a Proline 410) Sorry, but I'm not looking for any trades, sale only. Collection much preferred (near junction 10 of the M25 Surrey) but I will ship within the UK for £30 per item. Dave BOTH CABS NOW SOLD
2. Yikes! Looks like they're set in epoxy of some sort - I hope you've got a sharp knife and steady hands...
3. This is the underside of the alnico pickup on my MM Stingray 5 Classic, taken today during a string change because I'm also confused by the ceramic/alnico debate! I suspect it will be very difficult, if not impossible, to introduce pole pieces into a ceramic pickup unless the 'framework' is the same. A straight swap with a SD Basslines or similar would be infinitely easier, and as an earlier posted suggested, much easier to swap back if you don't care for the results! Ernie Ball famously don't sell replacement pickups, so your options are a little limited.
4. Very nice grain on the body - if only it had a maple board!
5.
I have n't bought strings for about 4 years, need to maybe sort that out.
I recall an interview with Robbie Shakespeare years ago where he said he felt his strings were just settling in when they'd been on for about 2 years... so yours should be fine!
6. I've been using D'Addario EXL170-5's for years... 45/65/80/100/130 gauge nickels, and the SL super long scale version for my 35" scale through-strung basses. The best feeling, most consistent strings available, IMHO, although Ernie Ball Super Slinkys are pretty good too. I used Rotosound Swing Bass when I first started playing many years ago, but gave up on them in the mid-80's when I got 3 sets in a row with a dead string. Another bass player I met on a gig not long ago told me he had the same experience with Rotosounds just recently - for such a big name brand, it's just not good enough in today's market with so much competition. Needless to say I've now converted him to D'Addarios! Paul Herman at Wal also fits D'Addario nickels on his new basses.
7.
We have a family outing booked - 6 of us going so far!
Marvellous - I'll see you there!
8. Just a bit of info for anyone who knows about Paul Turner's fantastic band Shuffler - they're playing the Jazz Cafe in London on Good Friday, 29th March. There's some links below including some tracks on soundcloud that will be released as an EP shortly - WELL worth a listen! 9. I've already got one of these in black sparkle, also with a John East preamp. A fabulous bass, and not coming up for sale so often these days. They are still being made, but the new colours are very drab in comparison to this beauty, and these Korean ones are much better than the newer Indonesian made version IMHO - I've owned both. Bump for a fantastic bass. Best of luck with the sale.
10. The RD instantly reminds me of the geezer with the unfeasibly big glasses from A Flock Of Seagulls... he had one IIRC...
11. Ended with no bids (not surprising) and just been relisted with a starting price of £1450... I don't think that's going to result in a sale either somehow...
12. That's mildly hideous, yet fantastic at the same time Chris! I would be tempted, except I don't currently own a SR5...
13. Rowley bought my John East P-Retro. Excellent communication, he paid immediately, and was a pleasure to deal with.
14. Sold my Markbass LMII to Ian, and it was a very smooth transaction. Immediate payment, great guy to deal with.
15. I just bought Brian's immaculate Status Streamline 5. He was a pleasure to deal with, even calling me from overseas where he was working just to sort out payment details. He called me again once the bass had arrived to check I was happy. A thoroughly good bloke - buy/sell/trade with complete confidence. Thanks Brian!
16.
Recommended seller type bump I bought Dave's TE head. Now I'm googling Steinbergers because of him...
Thank you for your kind words, but go easy Geoff... it's a slippery slope into the twighlight world of headless, bodiless basses!
17. I've got a file on my computer called 'BassesWotIHaveOwned' that I've kept updated for years, cataloguing every bass I've possessed since I first picked one up in 1975. A bit sad, I know. So far, the tally comes to an eye-watering 79 basses. Being by my own admission a complete bass tart, I have a tendancy to sell most of them after only a short dalliance, but I still currently own 6. Not showing off, mind, I class this as therapy... I'm slightly more embarrased to admit that I just went through the list and counted 22 of them that never even left the house - they were just 'moved on'... Worst bass? Many disappointing ones, but worst... probably a Traben Tribal Sun 5-string that I bought online a few years ago. Interesting to look at, sounded dreadful, really awful to play. Sold it immediately!
18. Dear Points Of View Why, oh why, oh why wouldn't someone, indeed anyone, snap up one of the finest 410's on the market today, in excellent condition, at a knockdown price? it even has a nice new cover. Is this the Freddie Laker effect? Could it be TOO cheap? Yours Sincerely, A Concerned Viewer P.S. Bump
19. Sold pending already.... blimey, that was quick!
20.
This is a crying shame these hang around for so long. probably the best bass cab out there. If you want to hear the true sound of your instrument this is the one hope you get this sold my man. but beware you will miss this. sold one before and found myself replacing it a few months later. Shout out for the Ebs proline awesome cabs
Thanks, and you're right - although I've got the EBS Neo cabs now, the Prolines have a shade more 'body' to them - if it wasn't for creaky middle age I'd still have the full Proline stack!
21. Hi, for sale is a John East P-Retro that I bought just a few weeks ago, fitted to my P-bass, then decided to move the bass on, so promptly removed the John East again! Literally as new, fully complete with all packaging, accessories, instructions etc. RRP is £179.95, grab a bargain at £125 posted in the UK! No trades or other offers please. NOW SOLD
22.
Would you consider selling the bag separately?
No, sorry - anyone buying the amp is likely to want the bag. Why not buy both so you've got a spare??
