On the subject of great syncopated bass lines by female bass players, what about Carol Colman of Kid Creole and the Coconuts - 'Stool Pigeon', 'Annie I'm Not Your Daddy', 'I'm A Wonderful Thing Baby' to name just three...

Well, there you go. Funny how these things get mixed up in your head over time - I thought it was Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads playing bass on this, but I must have got confused with Tom Tom Club's 'Wordy Rappinghood'... old age setting in... :-s

Every time I see break dancing, I can't help thinking "Oh dear, those youngsters are going to have terrible trouble with their knees when they're older..."

bass player wanted for gigging bluesfunkrock band
lowregisterhead replied to Mark Percy's topic in Bassists Wanted
Have a sense of humour, Sir
I would like to think I've got a fairly well developed sense of humour, but taking the pi** isn't generally that funny IMHO. Don't get me wrong, I've done it myself in the past, but thought better of it later, by which time it might have been too late. By that I mean that the various smart ar*e remarks are here for all to see - including by other prospective employers, who might think twice about employing some of the commentators for that very reason, but they'll never know why they didn't get a gig. I quite rightly got slapped down for some remarks I made on here a long time back, so please never forget this is a very public forum. How you play, the gear you've got and what you look like are only part of the equation. All of the serious bands and artists I know don't have much time for a loose canon, regardless of how good a musician they may be. Despite the perceived forthrightness of Mr Percy, he's got a perfect right to state his case on here any way he wants. I'm sure he would agree that he's got a reputation to maintain, but so do the rest of us. Like I said, if it's not your cup of tea, keep it to yourself and move on... -

He knows what he wants and says so. It saves anyone wasting their time, after all. The sarcy remarks are a bit uncalled for. If it's not your cup of tea, just move on... -

For sale/trade is a rather lovely Honeyburst Stingray 5 with a pearl plate and rosewood fingerboard. Excellent overall condition apart from a small chip in the finish on the back, and some very light marking on the bottom edge which would probably polish out. Comes with a Musicman moulded case. For sale for [s]£950[/s] [s]£895[/s] £850 including UK shipping, or would consider trade offers of 35" scale 5 string basses, wotcha got?? Dave NOW SOLD

Tony bought my Lakland Duck Dunn, and the whole transaction was smooth as silk from start to finish. A great guy to deal with - buy/sell/trade with confidence. Thanks Tony!
FINAL PRICE REDUCTION to £895 including shipping in the UK - off to The Gallery for a commision sale soon if there are no takers!
Mind you, it's a bit of a trek from Woking to Camden... PM me if you have a figure in mind - I can only say no! -
I bought an EBS Neo 115 from Robbie, and it was a very smooth transaction. He was great to do business with, so buy/trade with confidence.
Vintage Kramer "lumie" bump.... Just snagged a 650B after 30+ years of wanting one, utterly beautiful and unique-sounding bass that feels surprisingly "Precision-y" As a bonus it's the ultimate low-maintenance bass - no truss rod (yes, I've owned Rics too....) and ebanol fretboard that never dries out Nick Lowe's old 350B (alledgedly) on eBay for rather more wonga than Dave's 450B.... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5ae91daa28
Thanks for your complimentary words about the Kramer Shaggy, and yes, Nick Lowe's one is nearly twice the price of mine. The only difference I can see is the custom neck pickup position (and the celebrity connections, obviously). A bargain then! -
