1. For sale is a bass I've hardly used in the last 10 years, but I've been unwilling to part with. The sad fact is I don't play it, and to be honest I wasn't much good on fretless when I did! I bought it from Paul Turner (Jamiroquai etc) with a lined neck, which I changed for a plain fingerboard, I used it on a couple of tours, and it's been in its case pretty much ever since. Not sure how to date it precisely, but it's likely mid-90's, and the serial number is 538xx. It's in excellent condition, with only two tiny marks - one surface mark on the underside, and a dink on the back of the lower horn, shown in the photos. There's also very slight marking on the fingerboard, again show in the pics. Paul told me he had used it on a Take That album, but hopefully that won't lower the price any! It comes with a Musicman fitted case in good condition, just a little dusty on the outside from storage in the spare room, but I'll give it a clean... Trade options are fairly limited - fretted Stingray 5's or Lakland 5's, basically! I'll also consider 35" scale 5's as a straight swap or with cash my way. What have you got? The sale price is [s]£950[/s] £900 plus shipping, or can be collected from near junction 10 of the M25. Dave NOW TRADED FOR AN ALMOST IDENTICAL FRETTED ONE - THANKS !

 3.
I remember playing this bass once in Denmark st....Wunjo's I think, can't quite remember (they all look the same over there)! Was a really nice bass which I was very close to buying at the time! (unless it was a different but eerily similar bass)!
Dunno Dave - could have been!

 5. Hi all I've finally decided to sell what has turned out to be a gem of a bass that had passed unchanged through the hands of at least 3 Basschatters, until it came to me. As I understand it, it started life as a bit of a project, with a spare neck from a Lakland Joe Osborn Skyline that had developed a small split behind the nut from the truss rod being overtightened. A Paul Rose body was added to it, along with a Schaller bridge, a couple of Bartolini pickups, and some rather oversized Korean tuners. It showed promise, but was never really completed. It then spent some time under the ownership of the aforementioned forum members, and I bought it on impulse last year, thinking it might be worth investing some time and money in. It had problems - the tuners were huge and heavy, unbalancing the whole bass. The pickups had a nice variety of tones, but were pretty weak. The bridge was just too narrow, with nowhere near the spacing needed for the neck. The split in the neck, although unsightly, was stable, but the first thing I did was source a replacement - I figured that if I was going to sink cash into it and if I ever wanted to sell it, the split would make it virtually unsaleable, at least for the kind of money I'd need to recoup my outlay. Luckily I came across a brand new JO neck online, and asked the wonderful Martin Petersen at The Gallery to fit it, along with a set of Hipshot Ultralite tuners, a new ABM bridge strung through the body, and an Aguilar OPB-2 preamp. Martin finished it off with an inspired 'teardrop' scratchplate to echo the Stingray-like tones it's capable of producing. I also had Martin sculpt the body to make it more comfortable, and a little lighter. It now plays beautifully, sounds fantastic, and looks really striking IMHO, but sadly I have to 'thin out the herd' a bit, and so very unwillingly I need to sell it. The price is [s]£750[/s] [s]£700[/s] £650 plus shipping, or it can be collected from near junction 10 of the M25. Dave NOW SOLD - THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST

 12. I was going to suggest it be shown photographed with a copy of today's Times newspaper to prove the photos aren't from 1978, but the one with the EBS rig is probably proof enough... amazing condition!

 16. I've been a Stingray user for many years, and for me it's the punchy thickness of the mids, and that slicing, bright top end - I can spot the sound anywhere. That said, what I find is more important is the way it plays. For me, everything is just in the right place! Over the years I've had several dalliances with high-price boutique custom-made basses, only to return to the trusty 'Ray again. No other bass sounds or feels quite the same. The first 'quality' bass I ever owned back in the early 80's was a pre-EB Stingray which I foolishly sold a few years later when I couldn't pay the rent one month. Regretted it ever since. I recently got hold of one of the new Classic Stingrays, and it's fantastic. The lacquered neck, string-through slab body and dampers are so reminiscent of my old pre-EB. It's like snogging an old girlfriend!

 18. Bought this strap on a whim but found the padding a bit bulky (used to the thinner webbing type) so it's up for grabs. Only tried it on in the house once - literally as new. Adjustable 47" to 59" pin to pin, cost £32 quid, first offer of £25 secures (postage in the UK included). Payment by bank transfer, or cash if you want to collect from near Jcn 10 of the M25. Ta Dave NOW SOLD
