1. Certainly asking for quite a bit more than they usually go for... and from the description, it sounds like the seller may not exactly be an expert! Needs to be seen in the flesh, as there were a couple of dodgy Wals for sale recently on eBay. Might go for around £3000 if it's in good nick.
2. I think there were a couple of variations on the BB5000 with different string spacings/neck widths... what's the spacing at the bridge on this one please?
3. For sale is an M-Audio M-Track interface, bought and used only briefly when my Apogee died. Now replaced, so surplus to requirements. Very good condition, apart from a small scratch on the logo on the top. £40 including postage in the UK (new £79.99, so half price).
4. For sale is an Apogee One for Mac audio interface, new third generation, bought in haste when my old interface died. It was only once I'd opened it that it dawned on me it doesn't have monitor outs, only headphones! I've since remedied my mistake by buying an interface that does... As new, the box has been opened, but the device has not been unpacked or used. NOW SOLD
5. Ibanez Black Eagle. Forty years on, I finally have one. (OK, it's a reissue, but it's still fab).
6. A lovely bass at an excellent price, amazed it's still here TBH. It's got great clarity of tone, and has probably the highest output of any passive bass I've ever played. And it's a very rare limited edition - you won't see many of these, especially this side of the pond. I'm fully committed bass-wise, otherwise I'd be very tempted. Somebody buy it, for gawd's sake!
7. Wow. Very rare over here, and a fantastic price. I'm up to capacity at the moment, but someone should buy it quick!
8. To be fair, as 'reliced' basses I've seen go, it looks, err.... comparatively 'genuine' (?) ...except because of the format it can't be, but anyone who knew that wouldn't be fooled, so who exactly would you be trying to impress? Even if it was for your own personal satisfaction, it just seems strange to me that you'd be committing copyright fraud to do it. Why not stick 'Fake' on the headstock and be done with it? In fact, in as much it's a reliced fake, it's a fake twice over. And who even knows if it plays well or sounds any good? But perhaps that's not an important consideration here. This bass has no value to retain, as far as I can see.
9. What Molan said. I've done it a number of times, and although there are a few butterflies when you're sending the money with nothing to show for it, I've yet to come unstuck. There are also intermediary services like MyUS.com, who provide a US shipping address for sellers who won't ship overseas, and they then ship the item on to you, for a very modest fee. I did that with a thru-neck Stingray that was impossible to get otherwise, at least within a sensible time frame. You do buy unseen, and there are potential issues with warranty to consider. It's also got a good bit more expensive due to the exchange rate, but if you REALLY want it.... :-)
10.
It is a great bass, but just doesn't get used enough by me; deserves a good home!....Such a small community isn't it Dave, didn't you buy a Sei bass from me a few years back?!
Indeed I did! You've got a good memory... :-)
11. My old bass. Originally owned by Michael (Mickey) Feat of Family, etc., etc... A lovely thing! GLWTS.
12. ...and then there was the R*ck*nb*ck*r, but we're not allowed to talk about that... :-) Any others?
13.
Phil Lynott played an Ibanez Blazer for a while. I didn't know he played a Yamaha. Paul McCartney played a Yamaha live for a while.
He did play an Ibanez too, but it was a Roadstar, I had one myself in the early 80's... https://www.talkbass.com/threads/show-us-your-roadstar-basses.1149080/ http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1979-Phil-Lynott-Ibanez-RS-900-Bass-Guitar-Thin-Lizzy-/261875439983?nma=true&si=JdX398jT%252B0J2Hda20Mdtlpd2E%252Bw%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
14.
The second one is bb2000 which is very different. Be interested to see what they go for, i have a bb800 from the same sort of time. Good spotting skills!
You're quite right, not the same model. Still purdy though... :-)
15. ...and a bit of obscure telly with one, although someone suggests in the post that it was one of Jimmy Bain's basses... https://www.talkbass.com/threads/rare-philip-lynott.590617/
16.
Phil Lynott played an Ibanez Blazer for a while. I didn't know he played a Yamaha. Paul McCartney played a Yamaha live for a while.
I remember in the dim distant past seeing him in a couple of photos with a Yamaha, sporting the 'Broad Bass' logo, and here's the cover of Yellow Pearl with one... https://www.pinterest.com/pin/549298485776493755/
17. OK, maybe not so rare, Here's another slightly different one.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-BB2000-Bass-Guitar-1980-Black-Rare/172254732057
18. Lovely, and pretty rare. I'm seriously tempted. Free shipping from Japan, but then I remember to add about 23% to the price for VAT and Import Duty... If I'm not mistaken, Phil Lynott used one of these for a while. 19. Do let us know if he replies. If he's had it for 20 years as he claims, you'd think he would know what it is, or isn't...
20.
Hi mate, where abouts are you based? Cheers
Just off the A3, less than 10 minutes from junction 10 of the M25. PM me if you want to have a chat.
21. My first proper bass rig consisted of an Orange head and a Laney 4x12, circa 1976. All I remember was the head was incredibly heavy. I hope you have road crew...
22.
Would love to but actually aiming to buy a house for my 30th instead! GLWTS
They would both be great investments, of course...
23.
Me, because I turn 30 in November!
In that case, I really think you should treat yourself to an early birthday present!
