1. It's now re-appeared... my old bass! I moved it on in 2011, and it's had a couple of owners since, I think. It was a lovely thing, and I'd be tempted to try and buy it back, but not at that price...
2. That's a strange figure... £9.75? Will he seriously give you 25p change if you roll up with only a tenner??
3. Or I left my specs on the cooker... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brian-Eastwood-Bender-Collision-bass-guitar/272519379512
4. It seems to have vanished!
5.
Whereabouts are you based?
Between Woking and Guildford, a few minutes from M25 junction 10 with the A3. PM me if you want to come and have a look.
6. For sale is a Maruszczyk Elwood L 5a 24-fret 5-string, bought new from Bass Direct online only a few weeks ago. It's a lovely instrument - it looks great, plays beautifully, and has an impressive range of Stingray / Jazz / P-bass-type tones. The standard of fit and finish is really high, and it's light (3.6kg) with great balance. 34" scale, 19mm spacing at the bridge, 44mm wide at the nut with a zero fret. Bassculture MM/J pickups, and a Delano 2-band active EQ (push/pull active/passive on the volume pot) with a 3-way coil tap switch on the bridge pickup. The precise details for this actual bass are on the maker's website here: https://www.public-p...med-maple160124 My only reason for selling is I've been playing 35" scale basses for years, and my Ohurangutang arms can't seem to adjust... :-( Never gigged, and in absolutely immaculate as-new condition. Even the strings are still fresh. Comes complete with a Maruszczyk gig bag, a folder with a user manual, brochure, stickers, and adjustment tools. It cost me nearly £1300, so £995 (including UK shipping) is surely a bargain! Sorry, but I'm not looking for any trades. NOW SOLD, PENDING PAYMENT.
7. Very nice. Scale length, bridge string spacing, weight?
8. Did a trade with Joni for his Boldogh Jazzy 5, and the transaction was as smooth as silk - buy/sell/trade with complete confidence. Thanks Joni!
9. A lovely bass. I did a trade with Joni for the other Boldogh he had listed, and it's a quality instrument. He was also great to deal with - buy/trade with confidence. GLWTS Joni!
10.
Thank you. I originally bought the East to help with volume issues I was having when I first got the Jazz. It has, however, a very different tone. Much more vintage and perhaps less "crisp"? Fort me it certainly is a keeper on the bass but recommend trying one if you can before buying.
Thanks for that. I just wondered how they compared. I've got an East in my Lakland DJ5, and for me, it transformed the bass. GLWTS.
11. Nice. Like you, I'm after a 5 string version though. How is the East compared to the stock Fender preamp?
12. Take it back into work dressed in one of these. He'll take the hint. Seriously though, I went to try a very rare US luthier-made bass a few months ago, and it was similarly clarted. I passed on it not because it was dirty, but because it said something to me about how the owner had been treating it. I'm always amazed when somemone presents something for sale that needs a clean, even a bit of a dust down. It speaks volumes about their attitude to their gear. And life. And personal hygiene.
13. A very lovely and rare bass, and the seller is a total gentleman - you can buy with complete confidence. GLWTS Dave!
14.
My experience is of course with just the one SR5, so purely objective. May get a SR4 in the future though Still, Lakland make great basses, both the Skyline range and the USA range.
Maybe a new thread of Lakland USA vs. Lakland Korea vs. Lakland Indonesia vs. Lakland Japan needs to be started... unless it already exists, of course...
15.
I thought 'Hootenanny' was an olde english word meaning boogie woogie backup on everything - probably even over a bit of John Cooper Clarke doggerel
Scottish. An old SCOTTISH word.
16. They appear to have the requisite number of bass players, but I don't know if that was what the OP had in mind. I prefer "Am I Evil" by Diamond Head anyway. At least they answer the question. ("Yes I am..." for the uninitiated).
17. Nice. I'll never understand why some people selling a rare thing like that can't be bothered to even give it a clean and take some decent photographs, though....
18. East Uni-Pre has arrived. I'll post again once it's fitted if anyone's interested!
19. Disappointed to report that an experiment in lighter gauge steels (Swing Bass SM665) came quickly unstuck today when the B string was as dead as a flabby rubber band straight out of the pack, the very same reason I stopped using Rotosounds in the 80's... quickly put the old D'Addarios back on again, normal service resumed.
20.
IIRC it was 50 orders required within one month of announcement.
Not according to the No Treble article, but it's academic in any case. It would have been a really nice addition to their range IMO, but there clearly wasn't the demand for it. That said, the test run didn't seem to have been very widely advertised. Or is that just because we're the other side of the pond? I would have pre-ordered one if I'd known...
21.
Ah but would it be if it was an EBMM model? will we ever know, will Big Poppa ever try it to find out?

Now you're being v wicked lol
A few years ago EBMM did propose a 19mm wide-spacing SR5 ('The SLO Special 5') which they vowed to produce is they got 125 advance orders. IIRC they only got orders for 3, so it never happened! Here's the No Treble article: http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2011/07/01/ernie-ball-offers-test-run-of-music-man-stingray-5-string-bass-with-19mm-spacing/
22.
There was one of these in the for sale thread for many months - possibly still there.
That was mine. Not for sale anymore - see post above...
23.
Stonking, 35" inch Stingray with wide spacing, just what so many people say they want so I don't understand why these are not more popular?
Dunno. It ticks all the aforementioned boxes, although Lake Placid Blue might not be everyone's cup of tea, and to be frank I'm not wild about the colour myself! I had it up for sale a while back, but there were no takers, so I had a few mods done by Charlie Chandler's (changed the pickup, custom scratchplate, coil tap switch, PLEK'd the neck) and I'm very pleased with the result.
24.
a 55-76!!!!! THAT is what I would like... so rare, 'though. A real Stingray 5 alternative, with the right string spacing

We need to see the 76!
Not meaning to hijack the thread, but you did ask... :-)
