1. No bids. Bargain! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lakland-Skyline-Darryl-Jones-5-string-bass-/142411117409
 2.
Congrats on the purchase! Let us know how she plays
Apologies for the long delay in responding! It's lovely - light but well balanced, really resonant, with a surprisingly pokey tone. The pickups don't have a huge output on their own, but coupled with the Bartolini preamp it has loads of tonal variety. For the moment at least, it's a keeper. Sorry!
 3.
Gentle negative term, don't think there is a US equivalent.
Jerk? No offence, Barking Spiders!
 4. I was on a gig on Friday when the bass player from the festival house band came over and reminded me he'd bought a bass from me years before! We had a lovely chat.
 5.
I've never heard of Hanson pu and preamp What they like?thanks
They're their own pickups and preamp that Lakland have fitted in their 55-02 and 55-94 (and probably other models too) for several years now. They changed from Bartolini when Hanson bought Lakland from Dan Lakin, IIRC. I've never A/B'd them, but I believe they are very similar.
 6. 1000€? You mean £875? Good price. Maybe you should put the £ price in the title and you'll get more attention. Great basses! GLWTS.
 7.
Any thoughts on this one? http://www.guitargui...4296047007f.jpg Lakland 55 JJ ( passive only) US made placid lake blue.I cant find reviews on this, but guess it is something that makes me obsessed with its sound and quality
Very nice! I've never seen that model before. It's also relatively cheap, as by comparison a new 55-94 would probably cost a grand more. Ask them to send it to their nearest store to you, get down there and try it! And report back to the rest of us, of course...
 8. Fantastic. I can't help but wonder if Bernard had his signs out in the studio that day... "You gone done it...you hired the hit maker..." :-)
 9. Sold Alex my EBS 410. Like some previous posters, I had doubts about how easy it would be to do a deal with an overseas buyer with a courier pickup, especially with a pretty heavy cab, but Alex paid immediately (once I gave him the correct bank details - sorry Alex) and the courier even called the day before to check the pickup time was OK. Went like clockwork. Thanks!
 10.
Trade for Thunderfunk TFB550A?
Thanks, but I'm looking for a straight sale.
 11.
I'll add my vote to say get a Stingray Classic fiver - they sound amazing and look fab. Beautifully built too...
I had one, and although it did sound great, and was beautifully made, I moved it on for two reasons - the neck was even slightly narrower than the SR5, and the slab body and my middle aged spread just didn't get on! A lovely bass in every other respect. Really reminded me of my old pre-EB 4 string.
 12.
I do love that Lakland 55-76, but I think I'd have the same issue with it as a standard H Musicman, not very versatile. Perfect if you want that sound, a single humbucker in the bridge position, but I do require a little more versatility in a 5er. I'd want two humbuckers, and don't like the two look of two MM 'buckers, which means I'd want two dual coil soapbars......which is a 55-01.....which is what I've got........ Hooray!!! I justified a bass purchased Si p.s. Out of the honeymoon period, I've had the 55-01 for a few months now, done a number of gigs with it (and the changed electronics), and I'm still mightily impressed, so much bass for the money (I paid £749 new( plus new electronics), but seen them stock for as little as £350 used).
You're quite right, the Stingray / 55-76 are one trick ponies really, which is great if you like that sound. I was just chipping in to the 'Lakland doesn't sound like Stingray' discussion, to suggest one that does! Hard to come by, though...
 13. For sale is a Traveler Guitars Ultra Light 5-string bass, bought on Thomann a couple of years ago, but hardly used and ironically never actually taken out of the house. Hence, it's in as-new condition. Fitted with a set of D'Addario EXL170's. It's great fun to play, and very light (1.6 kg on my wife's digital cooking scales... don't tell her I used them to weigh a bass!). It has a piezo pickup under the bridge, and has a very usable, bright tone. The maker's web page is here: http://www.travelerg...t-bass-5-string The 5-string version doesn't appear to be available anymore, but Thomann still sell the 4-string: https://www.thomann...._light_bass.htm NOW SOLD
 14.
I was watching that, truly a lovely thing, I hope you enjoy it, I am officially jealous.
Thanks. I'm a bit of a tart when it comes to basses, so if it doesn't work for me, it may well end up back up for sale on here - keep an eye out!
 15. Mark bought my Lakland. Great communication, prompt payment, a great guy to deal with. Enjoy the bass!
 16.
My thought is that neither Lakland nor Sandberg etc...sound like a Musicman, simply because the humbucker positioned closer to the bridge. They got more upper midrange and bit more defined tone but sounds thinner than a Bongo or Stingray.Lakland 55-94,55-02 and 55-14 for me is a jazz plus.Great jazz sounds and a bit more with dual coils, but if you want that distinctive growly deep MM tone buy a Musicman. Both basses are excellent species though.Keep it mind,US Laklands hold their resale value just as Musicmans.Asian made basses, even if they are excellent instruments, do not really.
This one does - the Lakland 55-76. 17.
It acts like an 8ohm cabinet so any amplifier will do. I use a TC BH800 for mine. You can also use a dedicated poweramp. I think the power handling is 600w.
Thanks Ped. I'm tempted - I've heard good things about these.
 18. It was me! I'm as amazed as you are! I only just saw this thread - I stumbled on the bass on eBay completely by accident.
 19.
Well... 54,8 mm total, making string-to-string 13,7 mm. 2,16" total, making string-to-string 0,54" in decimals... //Roger
Thanks. I'm afraid with my gorilla mitts I would struggle to get my fingers between the strings, even at the bridge. There is a school of thought that that's not really necessary, of course. Still a very lovely and extremely rare thing. GLWTS.
 20. This seems to be a duplicate post - you haven't got two of 'em, have you??
 21. Very nice! I had an XL-5W years ago that had wide string spacing (hence the 'W'). What's the spacing at the bridge on this one?
 22. Glockenklang Heart-Rock II amp, hugely powerful with massive headroom, 1000W at 2.7 ohms, 750W at 4 ohms, 400W at 8 ohms. Minimum 2.7 ohm load allows mixing cab impedances (i.e. you can use a 4 ohm and 8 ohm cab together). High quality head from a respected German maker. Fitted in ply flightcase. Excellent overall condition, very slight marking above jack socket and on front panel as shown in photographs, probably from cables being stored in the front lid of the flightcase (not by me, I hasten to add!) Can be tested/collected from GU23, just off the M25 near junction 10. NOW SOLD
 23. EBS Proline 410 cab, 4 ohms, 800 watts, castors fitted. Fantastic cab, fully functional, good cosmetic condition. Only selling because I've switched to using two EBS 210s. Pickup only from GU23 postcode (10 mins from M25 junction 10). NOW SOLD.
