  1. Now you're talking! I was always drooling over the Audition and Top Twenty gear in Woolies while my mates were robbing the Pick 'n' Mix. Clearly I was destined for greater things. Still waiting...
  2. What I find most worrying is that it doesn't seem 5 minutes since I bought a burgundy Shergold Marathon brand new, and now the only ones you can find look like they're relics. Either I'm now equally ancient, or perhaps they weren't very well made in the first place. I know which one I prefer to believe.
  3. Very interesting. I had 1990 Series 5000 5-string a few years back that had that circuit, and jazz-type pickups. To my ears, it was the best-sounding Status I've ever owned, but the 15mm string spacing was impossibly tight for my gorilla mitts. It was also very red, which didn't work visually with the band at the time. Pity.
  4. It is a bit odd - I'm no Status expert, but the body shape looks more like an Eclipse, and the circuitry is Series 2000-ish, yet the tuners and pickups look much more contemporary. I know Rob does custom orders where all these could have somehow come together, but the hand-written serial seems mighty strange to me!
  5. Not sure if this is factory applied... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Status-bass-with-led-s-and-status-hardcase/264091158829
  6. Who'd want to hang that on their wall? Besides anything else, I expect it smells awful.
  7. That is quite cool, but I'd imagine it only really means something to you, because you know when and where it comes from. Selling anything like that involves the murky world of proof of provenance. This chap might go on to become the next Jimi Hendix, but somehow I doubt it!
  8. ...or should that be whom?? Never heard of him, and Google produced nothing either. Must be for a bet with a mate. He is up-and-coming, though. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dunlop-Tortex-Used-In-Sessions-By-Scott-Dexter/113196608884
  9. Don't be a plonker all your life, Rodders... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RELIANT-ROBIN-ELECTRIC-GUITAR-3-STRINGS-3-WHEELS-GREAT-ONE-OFF/222985515626
  10. Nice. And I play right handed! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wal-Custom-MK1-Bass-Guitar-1981-4-String-Rare-Left-Hand/12303742280
  11. Only the other day I was thinking "you just don't see Steinbergers for sale any more." I've had a few of these over the years, this one's a beauty. Wish I had the cash! GLWTS.
  12. Lovely playing Stefan! GLWTS. Dave
  13. Ah, yes... you spotted my deliberate mistake. Thank you for your attentiveness! 🙄
  14. Still for sale, price further reduced, and shipping now offered...
  15. That's a lovely grain in the body. What's the year of manufacture, the weight, and the location of the bass please?
  16. Not on this three-knob version, but there's a five-knob Uni-Pre that has.
  17. Just for the avoidance of doubt, I would like to clarify that the cabs Conan refers to are NOT the ones for sale on this thread - they have definitely not been "around the block", in fact you can see from the photos that they're in very nice condition indeed... I suppose the fact that another pair had that kind of longevity is a plus... 😉
  18. I remember trying a very early version of one of these in Andy's Guitar Workshop in Newcastle in late 81' / early '82. It was gorgeous and weird and the neck seemed to go on for ever. Beautiful workmanship.
  19. It's possible - they're 23kg each, and most couriers have a 30kg limit, so they'd have to be sent separately. PM me with your postcode and I can get you a quote.
  20. It might be more accurate to simply say if your vehicle's diesel of any age, you need to sell it or cough up. Any petrol Transits out there??
  21. Whilst I support the action, it seems a bit off the mark - I have a two-year-old Fort Transit E-Tech. It failed.
  22. I had the fretless version of this bass back in 80/81, an it was fantastic - great build quality, and masses of tonal variety. It was a little weighty though, IIRC. Around the same time it was being used by Sting and Colin Moulding of XTC (fretless in both cases).
  23. I keep coming back to this! Someone buy it, for gawd's sake! 😩
  24. I notice the example Bass Direct have for sale doesn't have through-body stringing like yours does. Was that an optional extra?
  25. Delano pickups, and a John East DJ Retro preamp. Although it didn't really need it, I had a separate battery battery compartment routed into the back of the bass. The John East preamp is brilliant, and no modification is required - it just drops straight in.
