  1. Like buses come to mind! I've been after a used set for ages and missed them both (grrrrrrr). Should either of the sales fall through I would love a set. Paddy.
  2. Looking for a cheapish set of the above strings. I have a good set of Innovation Golden Slaps I could also trade. Paddy.

  5. Thank you - would prefer lower action so perhaps my choice string.
  6. Hi has anyone used these strings? Could you tell me what's good and bad about them and whether they would bow (there is only one song in our set list that is bowed). I am looking for a string to pluck, slap and bow. Anyone got a set hanging around? I played 3 gigs this w'end on Obligatos and my fingers fancy trying something with less tension! Paddy.
  7. Charlie Feathers - now your talking! I enjoy listening to Bill Haley/Marshall Lytle but I find it a little too polished, the rawness of the early rockabilly bass has always had me hooked.
  8. Clarky - I had the "discussion" with my wife about keeping my old ea micro for a backup when my new one comes but apparently we have a "one in one out" rule on bass amps! Pah - have you ever heard anything so ridiculous? Good luck with selling the little miracle.
  9. Chris - reformed recently for a tour and CD! the Sharks had split by the time I was old enough to go to gigs and Steve had already formed Frenzy. I recently recorded in Alan Wilson's famous Western Star studio (ambition fulfilled). It was a far cry from Rockabilly though.

  11. Chris F - similar story for me but it was watching Steve Whitehouse when I was a young 15 year old psychobilly. I've been hooked on that boom, clickety clack ever since! Took me a long time before buying a bass - I love standing at the back trying to hold it all together and when it comes together its a great great feeling.
  12. Perhaps it was the monitor and that was why it seemed too loud - no other backlined. Guitars and singers eh - more me more me!
  13. Played a pub gig last night and had dreadful feedback problems all night with my strings vibrating like crazy. To give me a little more depth I put a little out front through the pa rather than just going through my wizzy. Messed about with volume and eq on both my pro plat, amp and pa amp none of which made much difference. In the end I just made the best out of a bad situation and tried to mute my strings as much as possible. The room played in was long and narrow with a lowish ceiling and the overall sound seemed to come back at us behind front of house speakers (if that makes sense) but we were no louder than normal. Any suggestions on what I could have done to combat feedback or is it just sometimes it's just how it is?
  14. Clarky - there is a GK 150e on eBay at the moment, £150 at the moment with 4 days to go PERFECT?
  15. Hi recently acquired a iamp used. I have used this with a wizzy 10 several times since purchasing with no problems but two weeks ago we played a 3 x 1hr set at a party and the amp was running for about 4 hr's in total, towards the end of the gig it just stopped working. When I got home it still had no life so I swapped kettle leads and she came back to life. This w'end I played a festival and just used the amp and wizzy for my monitor, so wasn't pushing it and had it on for an hour - no issues with it stopping but on packing it away she felt really hot, much hotter than previous or perhaps I am just being paranoid and worried it is gonna pack up! Could someone please tell whether it is normal/abnormal to run hot? I have also mailed EA direct but would like feedback from other iamp users.
  16. I bought a Snark after reading reviews here. It is spot on with good clear display and much easier to use than my old clip on tuner that was a bit hit and miss especially on the a and e.
  17. Just looking at Gumtree and there is a Ashdown on for £40. The advert is two weeks old so it might be gone.
  18. You can pick a new single g up relatively cheaply on eBay if no one has one for sale here.
  19. Parcel Force 48hr sent from my local post office has just taken 10 days for delivery - appalling service.
  20. Thanks to rejectfly for his quick payment and patience with a extremely slow 48hr parcel delivery - it has taken 10 days but you have to take into account bank holidays, bloody dreadful service from parcel force. Paddy109.
