  1. Looking for a Fishman preamp in good used condition. Not sure if my budget would stretch to a pro plat but pm me and let's see!?! Paddy.
  2. Bump - I bought the fretted u bass and I am having some great fun with it. The huge tone from such a small instrument really is amazing and certainly a talking point when out gigging!
  3. Just bought a kala u bass from Dave. Great used condition. Good communication. Fast well packaged item. Thank you.
  4. Thank you, that's actually the one I bought but couldn't find the listing! Paddy.
  5. I have a iamp 300 surplus and have no idea how much to ask for it - any suggestions?
  6. Anyone on here own a Duke and live or playing in or around the South West? Would like to buy but not brave enough to without trying first!
  7. Whats the contact details to buy a Duke? Surprised to read it is lighter than a 50\4.
  8. I bought my 50\4 blonde direct from Strunal several years ago and it is still going strong - still original everything apart from strings. The customer service was excellent, packaged great and I saved on the Thomann mark up!
  9. Ah yes - I have used this excellent resource several times over the years.
  10. BRILLIANT - congratulations to you all. Check out lullaby lamb (straps to a cot/basket) it was the best thing for getting my two to sleep!
  11. Happy Christmas to all you upright players. Thanks for making me spend way too much time reading this forum! Respect.
  12. I had similar problem in my last band. The last gig I played the two guitarists kept sneaking their amps up competing against each other, in the end it sounded a right old mess. I left following that gig and now play in a more chilled band! Cut and paste all these replies and send them an e-mail, if they Dont get it then move on. Playing should be mostly fun after all. Good luck.
  13. My first tattoo when I was 17 - psychobilly playing a db taken from blood on the cats LP. Took me another 18 yrs before buying my first bass. Watch out they are addictive (both tats and dB's)!
  14. I was expecting it to go for more than it did. I was banned from putting in a bid - couldn't help watching it though!
  15. I bought some cheap ones from eBay that came from India - thought they sounded fine and not that different from Clef. The came in an amazing hesian package. I bought 3 or 4 sets and sold the spare ones covering my cost and had a free set! As for the title of this thread - never read anything else string related or try anyone else's bass that way you won't be tempted the grass is greener. My wife will probably divorce me if I buy another set of strings for at least another year!
  16. More of a cheat than a tip - Ive downloaded my bands set list to my phone and then attach a car window phone holder to the back of my bass. From the audience my phone isn't seen and its better than having music stands and loads of paper everywhere. Great for remembering those songs I always have a blank on!
  17. I am not attending but have been in the past a couple of times and had so much fun. Met some amazing musicians and would recommend highly. Its hard work and the late night jams are a real blast. Have fun Clarkie, I am very jealous.
  18. Ford c-max, the middle rear seat can be removed in seconds fitting my 3/4 in nice and snug. Room for me and 3 passengers.
