  1. OK - messed about with my sound this morning (poor neighbours). Definitely sounds better but difficult to know how good this will sound at a gig but I have a good place to start. Thanks for the advice - I think I assumed that ramping the bass up would help! Paddy.
  2. Thanks for the advice will give it a go before gigging at w'end. When setting the platinum pro flat/midday is this the sliders at the bottom or half way?
  3. Hi all - now I really dont confess to be anything but a novice when it comes to sound and setting up and really need some help. My issue is bottom end sound is a bit undefined and not punchy enough. D and G sound good but overall I would like more thump and definition. I am playing Strunal 50/4 with Innovation golden slaps - k&k bassmax - fishman pro plat - ashdown giant effects return - gk 212mbe. The band plays a mix of country, bluegrass style. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  5. Good - nearly new, 25mm padding, wheels, backstraps, heaps of pockets. Bad - seam to front has come apart a few inches. Pickup only - I live between Bath and Bristol but also spend some time in Chepstow. This is free and cost £160, I really dont want it going to a landfill. Having trouble uploading picture - if you are interested pm me with a mobile number and I will send a picture of the seam. The only thing I do ask if it is worth someones trouble is the bag is not sold on! Paddy.
  6. Hardly used, as new condition and surplus to requirements. Pick up only unless a courier is arranged at your cost. I live between Bath and Bristol. Complete with power lead and owner manual. Paddy.
  7. I've always been more than happy not hearing myself - dont want to know how crap my intonation is. Hit the root note if you loose things dont stop and dont grimace if you mess up - just pretend it is all going to plan! All works for me.
  8. I have just bought my second tom and will bag - the first one the zip bust after 3+ years. Got a 40% discount on the second and the newer zips are much more robust! So far so good! Good prompt response fron their customer services.

  11. Phil - no animals in our band - weve go a newgrass type of thing going.
  12. Thanks to everyone for the advice - had a gig last sat and much happier with the sound! Went through gk and pa - still gotta way to go but all in the band much happier. We all played like complete muppets mind you - hey it's only rock n roll! Paddy
  13. If I take two feeds out of the pre amp which two sockets out of the three do I use - xlr, send/tuner and output? Looking forward to giving all this a go!
  14. Ok - still digesting all the great advice. Throwing up more questions as we go. The gear we use for our gigs (mostly medium size pubs) -active speakers with 15" subs and tweeters, 300w per speaker. Is there any chance in blowing/damaging anything. Its all acoustic instruments - we tend to stick to a single mic approach if feedback problems dont occur. My plan is to try - bass to fishman pro pre amp, one lead to my gk150e and one to desk/foh - all sound ok? Learning as I go - the band I am in have not played with a bass before.
  15. Great replies and most of this understandable. If I use a amp for me on stage and go through the pa do I run a line from the amp to pa or pre amp to amp and pa?
  16. Excuse my ignorance but are there any issues with going straight oit through the PA as other instruments do. For instance could I use a small amp as a monitor and the main of the sound come through a PA. The band I am in are reluctant for me to try this but are always wanting more sound volume than I can produce! Paddy
  17. 1. Can anyone recomend a condensor mic that is not going to cost me an arm and a leg but doesn't compromise on sound quality? 2. What are the issues playing live with a condensor mic? Paddy.
