1. I honestly wouldn't let this put you off similar events. This one may have been a disaster but the next one could be a total blast - you never know. I won't agree to anything until I have all the details. You never want to turn up and not know how long your set is (as you found out the hard way) as you mention above - it may not be worth your time. What you / your band need to do is clarify all the details before agreeing to any gig. Gear, set time / length, payment, soundcheck etc. This is something you would have learned as you became more experienced at sourcing gigs anyway. Once you have this info then you'll at least you'd know whether you're right to be pissed off with gig organiser if all doesn't go according to plan. I hope I didn't come across as patronising there. It's just what I've learned to do when I'm looking for gigs - and good luck with your future gigs
2. Nice one for the clip! It sounds phat.
3. I got the predecessor to this amp called the perfect 10 60 minirig. Really nice praccy amp! This new one looks even sleeker!
4. Can you do clips at all? I'd love to hear it.
5.
In your original post, there's one positive element -- the metalhead drummer in your main band. I'm just wondering if you are able to contact him and see if he might be up for doing something different -- perhaps form a new band with you,
+1, thats what I'd do.
6. Hey thanks for the quick and helpful replies. I hadn't considered changing the EQ on the fly or boosting the mids to overdrive dirt pedals. Cheers!
7. when you can use your amp or bass EQ's? Just wondering, thanks.
8. Now thats gotta be the coolest bedroom praccy amp I've ever seen - I'm surprised your parents didn't take an axe to that beast! Good luck with the sale - why not get a small micromark?
9. It sounds like your a leader type within the band - which is fine, every band needs people who go above and beyond to carry the weight of the less motivated. But there is a difference between people who aren't as motivated and people who are unmotivated. If fun turns into frustration its probably time to call it a day - it's just not worth it mate. Why should you stress when no one else acts like they gives a toss? If you are still reluctant to dis-band why don't you take your foot of the gas a bit and see if anyone else comes to the fore - and in the meantime try to get something else going - your obviously a proactive person - get your adverts up on website and in music shops and leave these wasters when the opportunity presents itself?
10. It's a funny one innit. On one hand he's given 2 months notice which is decent (although via email is shoddy) but on the other hand you have gigs booked. Personally, if someone in the band wants out I'd rather they left sooner and plow on regardless rather than putting up with deadwood.
11. I just do minor tweaks. The rehearsal rooms my band are in are often tiny so I cut down the bottom end a bit to remove any muddiness and brighten the mids slightly to help me cut through the din.

Line6 M9

I should be able to test drive my mates M9 tonight. In a way I want to be disappointed so I don't have to deal with the dilemma of whether I should sell up my pedals but I don't think I'm going to be.
13. IN a way that can be a good thing - better than having deadwood in the band that let you down worse at a later date.
14. Love the shape of this board - what do you store it in when you travel to gigs/rehearsals?
15.
I've been running two rigs for a while now and absolutely love it. I have a big board with lots of effects and use two Aguilar GS412's. I have a Sunn 1200s driving my 'bassy' rig and a 100w valve amp (changes round a bit at the moment) running my 'fx' rig. I split the signal at the start of the pedal board and have bassy distortions, fuzzes and octave down fx going into the Sunn and any quirky, noisy fx (wahs, ringmods, phasers reverbs, delays, synths etc) as well as an octave up running into the valve amp. This way I have a big solid state amp delivering crushing low end with lots of meaty headroom and the breakup of a valve amp at full tilt at the same time. Awesome. I think that having different fx (particularly if some are a bit 'out there') into separate amps creates an amazing array of textures and really works the kind of stuff I play.
I'd love to hear that rig, sounds amazing - do ya play in the Northwest?
16. I'm surprised your selling the Varioboost - I loved your bass tone when you used it.
17.
AFAIK (and someone will probably correct me) He has 3 rigs, one is always running, and it's clean, another is running most of the time and he chooses how dirty it is with pedals, another is switched in and out and is seriously dirty.
This is what I've read in some interview with him which I think was posted on TB. I think he also said that his clean rig is always on and he either blends the dirty or 'seriously dirty' - as Cheddatom puts it - amp with it. I may be wrong here but I'm sure they are three different amps but all bass amps. one may have been an ampeg and another an ashdown but I could be mistaken. Do a search under Timmy C in the effects forum. You'll have some trawling to do I'm sure but some fan of his posted a tonne of stuff on him in a thread.

Line6 M9

My mates recently bought one and is really raving on about it. I'm looking forward to trying it out on friday. I wouldn't have thought I'd ever contemplate selling off my pedals but I'm at a crossroads where I want more effects but feel reluctant to upsize to a more cumbersome bigger pedal board. The more I think about it the more it makes sense - providing I like the M9 when I try it out I could sell most of my pedals and by it, along with a pedaltrain mini and and I wouldn't have to add much more to swoop on a Mutron. If a lot of people jump ship and move over to the M9 wagon will that drop the costs of pedals down in the MarketPlace with a lots of boards going wholesale I wonder?
20. When the going gets tough by Billy Ocean - song sucks but great bass line.
21. Why not start up / join a band of similar novice types? I'd imagine that's how most of us progressed.
22. I went for Shuker's own EQ but it's hard to tell how good it is as you don't get to try different eq's with the chosen pick ups - if that makes sense? All I can say is my bass sounds lovely and powerful - very musicmanish - although I went with Delano pups. Another highly rated EQ circuit is the Aguilar, I was set to go with this one but someone else on here recomended I give Jon's a try - so I did.
23.
Is the case lined with panda fur?
+1 to that! Using Ivory is disgusting in my opinion!
24. I use the EBS wah one's dual function - works just fine as a volume pedal and doesn't take up any extra space - although the switches they put in are crap - replaced 3 in 2 years, which is pretty poor really.
25.
Hey Burno, I think the EQ thing is the way around it. Might take some time to work it out though.
Yeah, I got band praccy tonight so will give the EQ some adjustments for the songs I use Fuzz on. Cool avatar by the way!
