1. I'm beginning to think that a blender would be the best answer. I already have a few pedals which don't fit on by board so I'm thinking of going down the DIY Ikea Gorm board route - more space -a blender would then be a viable option.
2. Hey thanks for the quick response. Yeah your explanation makes sense, in that it must be the other instruments drowning out the fuzz at certain frequencies. I Have a markbass 503 head and tend to leave the eq flat. I'd rather not go down the additional pedals route for the eq and I'd rather avoid a bypass loop if possible due to board space. But if it turns out to be the best solution I'll look into it. I think my mate still has a GEB-1? boss eq thang so I could have a go at that. I'll have to wait until next praccy to push the highs and high mids up and see what effect that has. Would this be down to the pedal at all? Or is this an issue with most fuzzes? Cheers
3. I use an assmaster, I aboslutely love the sound of it on the bass, especially with a bit of octave - but when I'm using it with the band it doesn't sound quite 'right'. I've tried increasing and even reducing the mids on the amp and/or the bass to see if that helps but it's not really giving the effect I'm after. It's not an issue of volume as the bass is present within the song, it just seems to lack definition. I'm trying to get the same sound out of it when I play 'solo' and bring it into the band - if you know what I mean?
4. Out of your list I've played the Q-tron, the Micro Q-tron and the EBS. I really didn't like the EBS although it has it's fans. Couldn't get it to quack enough for me. I really liked the Q-tron and would have kept it but for it's rediculous foot-print. I thought the micro Q-tron was decent too - although you could hear volume spikes.
5. I've got to email this thread to Ed, I actually can't put a number on the volume of instruments he's gone through in recent years and would be very interested to find out...
6. Great idea - I may invest in one of these and buy a flight case to put it in.
7. I'm surprised your selling the Earthquake, I remember reading how highly you thought of it. I've wanted one for ages but ain't got the spuds right now.
8. I'm a Deftones but I'm not the type of person who looks into all the details of the people behind bands that I'm into - I didn't know that Cheng was in a coma. What happened?
9. I was playing guitar for about 6 months and doing really well - and then Metallica released their first ever video - 'Cliff 'em All' and that was that - said guitar was sold and new bass purchased. Cliff Burton was definately the greatest influence in me picking up a bass in the first place - but not the biggest influence on my style - if you know what I mean?
10. I tried a bunch of basses out the other month - I wasn't at all impressed with the new Fenders - although I have to add that I don't get on with them generally. I feel they are poorly set up relative to their price tag/hype, and they felt rather uninspiring to play to me. On the other hand I played a Daryl Jones Lakland and thought it was a seriously nice bass - lovely tone and easy to play. There was a world of difference between the 09 Fenders and the DJ lakland. If I'd have had the money I'd have bought the DJ straight away - alas.......
11. Lucky enough to catch them twice somewhere between 91-93. RATM at Glastonbury is perhaps the best gig I've been to. Also saw them at Liverpol Royal Court with Tool in support - man, feeling all nostalgic all of a sudden!
12. thing is for that price you could probably swoop on one of the 'holy grails' - an original mutron or lovetone meatball. That's what I'd do if I had £250 spare.

Boss LS-2

Probably the most useful pedal I've bought. I can now bypass my effects completely, Loop A is for my regular pedals and loop B is for tone sucky ones or fx I want to interact in parallel with loop A pedals. I've not noticed any loss of tone with this pedal.
14. ^^^ Sorry, when I said design your own bass, I didn't really mean the shape so much as the woods, pick-ups, pre-amp, neck, fingerboard etc; you know -all the cool choices you get to make when you call Jon and ask for one of his custom basses.
15. I think it's lovely - but if your going down the custom bass route why bother getting a copy of someone else's bass when you can design your own - slightly off topic but I thought I'd throw it in there.
16.
I'd seriously reccomend the mastotron, I've never played a b:assmaster so I can't really compare them, but the mastotron can do pretty much any sound, with the impedance blend it loves my active, and it's an mxr size box
For some reason I thought the Mastotron was bigger than than that - I'll have to keep my eye out out for one on ebay.
17. Thanks Bob, I have an active bass so I can chalk this one off. The search continues....
18. Hey Bob, how do you find the Cherry Pop? I've been looking out for small fuzzes to potentially replace my Assmaster- (pure real estate decision) and this could be what I'm after.
19. I've had one of these for a couple of years now and it's ace I reckon. Like you, a little more than I need right now but it has more options which may come in handy in the future. If anyone wants a nice bit of kit to plug your bass, geetars, keyboard into your pc this interface it the dogs dong. Good luck with the sale.
20. From what I've read I don't think the Diago 18v adaptor would run an original Mutron - different type of adaptor, not sure about the Hazlabs version. You could PM Higgie for a more technical answer, he has one and uses a double battery adaptor thang.
21. I'm running between 8-10 pedals from a diago, one uses the 18v voltage doubler adaptor, no humming whatsoever. Would highly recommend.
22. This is an excellent, insightful post. I think trying to do as much as you can for yourself is a much better solution than praying for that big life changing deal. Although, whichever way you cut it, it always boils down to attracting a decent following - unfortunately for my band (too many gigs in front of too few people). (I might post a separate thread for this and see what tips I can gleam for increasing your following!) Has anyone looked into site's like sellaband or slicethepie? For those who are not familiar these are sites were, roughly speaking, you post your music (for a nominal fee of course) and if people believe in you they can make a donation which, if you reach the magic number of followers means the site owners will arrange for your band to make an album, PR, video etc. It sounds alright in theory - but I've personally not heard of anyone "making it" via this means. And, following from earlier posts, what "making it" entails is entirely subjective anyway.
23. As it happens Dood is selling a midi foot controller thang - and because I'm nice, here's the link = http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=40476
24. NOt sure if that would help - it all depends on what the problem is. Have you tried using any other amps? If not take your bass to your local music shop and pretend you are trying out different amps and see what happens - no twang and it's the amp, not the bass.
25.
Ah yeah. My Meatwad's got a switch to do exactly that, but it seems I'm the only person in the universe who's ever asked for that option...
Damn - if I'd have known anything about loops I would have definately requested this option! I could always send it back to Mario - it has a ground fault and I could kill two birds one stone etc. It's just going without the meatwad for 6 weeks.
