1. Thanks for the reply Dood. I think I'll have to resist until I've bought a lap-top to run samples from first. I thought you sold an M80 recently? I have a brand new one, never been used which I'm willing to part with to fund said lap-top if your interested? I wanted to keep hold of this for recording but the band haven't got any immediate recordings lined up and I'm gassing for a lap top at the minute. Let me know - and thanks.
2. Could I trigger samples using this? If so could you explain how its done please? I may be interested. Thanks.
3. OK, just back from Star Trek and tried it out. Definately works better with the Assmaster in the loop, no doubt about it. Problem is I can't engage the fuzz independently from the filter which is not an option. I'd need to get a dedicated fuzz specifically to do this and that aint gonna happen - board space and funds etc. I get a nice sound out of it running my overdrive pedal in series before the Meatwad though so I'll stick with that for now - but thanks again for the tip!
4.
Well it looks like you've got the Assmaster and the Hyperpak in series before the Meatwad. If you switch (one of) those on with the Meatwad I would imagine the dynamics of your playing would be flattened quite a lot by the fuzz, and the filter wouldn't quack so much. Whereas if you put a fuzz in the filter's loop you'd still get the sound of the fuzz being first in the chain, but you'd have the benefit of your clean signal triggering the filter, so the filter would be much more reactive to your playing. The benefits are especially obvious if you use a lot of gain on your fuzz. Certainly if I put my Woolly Mammoth infront of a filter, the filter just stays wide open! Whereas in the loop the envelope follower can work properly.
Excellent - that explains perfectly why I don't get a particularly great sound from using the Assmaster with the meatwad as is. I shall try this tonight. Thanks for the explanation.
5.
That jazz looks delicious! If only i could afford
It is delicious. I play this one quite regularly round at Eds, it sounds amazing, plays lovely and I'm totally gutted I don't have the spuds to buy it. It is a total steal at that price. It's a million times better than what Fender are offering for twice as much at the moment - and no I'm not "sticking up for a mate" its the truth. I'm genuinely bitter it's going and not to me! Good luck with the sale kev (well kind off)
6. It does eat into the plastic but I haven't heard any hiss although at the same time I've read reports that your sound should improve dramatically from using moulded plastic patch cables and I didn't hear that either. It's just neater. FWIW I didn't really see the set up as a chore or hassle but enjoyed putting it all together.
7.
Not using the loop on the Meatwad?
I already get a really cool sound from it in series and haven't felt the need to dabble with the loop. What are the benefits of using the loop? I'm not that techy - go on, hit me with the knowledge!
8. ^^^ will do mate, it's a Diago, dunno it's name, whatever the smallest board is.
9. Both mint with packaging and a manual for the LMB. (HyperPak doesn't have one - it only has 2 knobs afterall). The HyperPak is practically brand new - bought it 2 months ago, cost me £103 with the exchange rate, although I touched lucky with customs. I'll take £85 posted. sold. For the LMB - £40 posted. Cheers
10. Here's the latest reincarnation. The Hyperpak is going. Just wish I had enough room for the Zia Drive. I'm thinking of getting a PT2 and sticking the Multicomp underneath as it's always on anyway. The other option is getting a bigger board then I could have my big old BMS and Headrush permanently set up. Still undecided.
11. I got a Multi-comp, really happy with it, always on. Particularly good with slap. Not tried the others though.
12.
AnalogMan Mini Chorus with deep mod - sublime.
+1, love it.
13. Thank Maxcat, the pedal I'm thinking of sticking under there is a Multicomp. It's boss size though not as deep so reckon it should fit. Cheers
14. Some of us have bigger banks that others...how much are you looking to spend on each pedal?
15. This question reminds me of being a teenager and deciding to take up geetar but didn't have the spuds to go out and buy one. I remember trying to save for one and feeling really angry when I saw bands trash their instruments. I couldn't smash up a bass, knowing that there's a kid out there somewhere who's desperate to get hold of one.
16. I've got a Headrush and it's a piece of p*ss to use. One stomp to record and one stomp to play what you've just recorded, it's a cool pedal.
17. I bought one of these a few months ago from the marketplace, love it. I already have an Akai Headrush which I primarily use as a looper but the delay is pants compared to the CC. I love it when I find a pedal that totally kills the GAS for that effect.
18. I've measured the PT2 in comparison with my Diago and whilst I would be able to free up a small amount of space it's not enough to add another pedal on. I've read posts from PT2 owners setting up a power supply brick under there so I assume there's room - but would rather clarify before taking the plunge.
19. Personally I didn't get on with the EBS IQ. Couldn't get it to quack enough for my taste and no amount of trim pot tweaking seemed to help. I ditched it for a Q-Tron. I've heard quite a few samples of the Agent 00 Funk and it sounds awesome. Dunno about the sensitivity of the knobs though.
20. Blimey, PT2's not as popular as I thought!
21. I have one too many pedals for my Diago pedalboard. I'm thinking of switching and wondering if there's room underneath a PT2 to stick an 'always on' pedal upside down - if that makes any sense?
22. I played this bass round at Ed's last week. It's a really lovely bass, low action, nice feel and lots of tonal possibilities with the ACG pre-amp. If only I had the cash!
23. They definately look Tonkery don't they!
