  1. My response other than "just say no," which has never worked for anyone under any circumstance would be to ask if he has dental insurance. When he inevitably says "no" make some sort of observation about that being a pity were his saxophone used to knock out most of his teeth then give him an experimental brass enema. A friend of mine has a midi saxophone which he brought to a random jam we had a few years ago. Hateful thing. Sounded like a badger being castrated whilst trying to sing "Welcome to the jungle," by Guns & Roses. I'd take suggestions. Dictated to? Good luck with that, pal.
  2. Like all heritage brands, they can't win. They could however, try to not screw up so readily. They could have just used the same kind of design as their 4 string pickups instead of something as bad as those triangles. Not that it matters as I don't play 5 strings. My Rick kills and I use it dropped to C# standard in one band. Just fantastic.
  3. I don't need to try one. Any bass where the pickups look like they came from a low budget 1980's sci fi horror film are a definite no from me.

Then clearly, not using it right or in the right situation as an owner of 8 and 12 string basses they absolutely kill.
  5. "But it's been designed like this for Geddy....." I still can't get over how silly that is.
  6. Hans Peter Wilfer - "We have improved the Sadowsky logo design. We at Warwick are committed to taking something good, great even, and ruining it completely, then getting out of the consequences by having a team of lawyers that would make OJ Simpson's legal team look like rank amateurs who couldn't even get your 96 year old gran off a speeding ticket when she did 21 in a 20 zone. Previous cases against Spector, Status Graphite and Alembic have shown this. We are ready. Ready to ruin what you hold dear and take credit for inventing everything."
  7. Not in my case Si. Previously, I've bought tons of stuff which is no different to many people. A year off was good. It gave me time to assess what gear needs I have and plan ahead for this year.
  8. Yeah, I did. I only bought things for the studio. Did I win anything?
  9. As @Cosmo Valdemarsays, an all graphite status buzzard will happily take an action down to less than 0.5mm which is almost immeasurable. If that's not low enough for people I don't know what is. It really is scary. Ironically, when I got it the action was way too high for me (especially if you do tapping), but it adjusted down easily. My alembic also takes a truly insane low action as well.
  10. I wonder if you're lucky not to have been burned at the stake for heresy by sharing a guitar demo..... I'd be barricading my windows if I were you. In all seriousness though, it is a guitar preamp which works very, very well for bass and quite a few other things. Oh, no! Does this mean I'll be burned too?!!
  11. I can't wait for Hans Peter Wilfer to come out with some crap soon, like "All these designs are mine," "We pioneered the Sadowsky shape and electronics," "I own the patents to all Sadowsky basses." It won't be long before he says that "Warwick invented the wheel in 10,000 B.C." No irony will be present either.
  12. I haven't bought anything this year except for my studio. However, the minute this is over I'll be getting a pedal board as well as a few other things.
  13. £450 at Andertons. I must admit I paid £500 for the rack which has stereo fx loop and DI outs. That was 2010 though. Yeah, I think that had it been a bit less that would have been better. I take your point of course. It's not cheap.
  14. Well, clearly you don't and that's fair enough. However. Imagine you're in multiple bands using different basses (never mind effects) for each. This is the flexible front end. Yeah, some folk will get this. Others won't. Some will be put off by price or not. I hasten to say, I've got an HX Stomp. It's Rocky Road taking the price up if they are. Tech21 have went on here previously to state they have little control over final territory pricing. So, at least they're not distributed by Westside a la Mesa Boogie where the price gouging markup is so much that your eyeballs have been pushed out through your ears.
  15. I can't say I liked the source audio stuff much. Especially distortions. Everyone is different in terms of what they want. I want to press one button and my whole rig changes via midi. Apart from DI out and possibly headphones, I wouldn't need or care about clean blend, aux in or IR loader. I found the programmable Bass driver didn't recall stuff quite correctly. It's what you want personally that matters. It's a great bit of kit as I have the Rack PSA 1.1. At £450 (Andertons) it's not cheap, but nothing great is. Whether or not you think it's worth it is a personal choice.
  16. 128 presets dude. People pay £375 for a Darkglass pedal that does dirty or clean. Let that sink in. A 128 channel preamp. It's not new technology, but it makes other things that claim to be "versatile" look like they should have a sign showing where the coal goes.
  17. Trust me. If you want to sound like late 90s Entwistle you'll need a lot more gear than this. A Digitech 2120 would be a start for the quad chorusing. By 2000 he'd moved to using an Ashdown RPM-1 and didn't use the PSA again. All of this is before you even get to using a Status Graphite Buzzard. Personally, I think the PSA kills as you can get virtually anything out of it regardless of your tonal preference.
  18. i got mine new in 2010 for £500. Pretty much after that they weren't really available in the UK.
  19. I'm very sorry to hear this Lozz. I hope you can find something that has a bit less of a hectic schedule for you. Take care of yourself.
  20. I quite liked it though I did feel there were less exhibitors which was a pity. The venue is less travel for me so I'm fine with that. The main source of unamusement was that the guy who entered his kid to win the stingray is trying to flip it on eBay right now for £1600. That's a bit irritating. Like its went to a guitar player who won't even appreciate it.
  21. Wouldn't have done much good. Entwistle was broke post 1999. He's the reason I got mine actually.
  22. Also, as I'm a reasonable man, if anyone is close to south east London, you can pop over to my studio and try the rack version. The offer is open to basschatters.
  23. I've got no problem with this. If Darkglass can charge almost £400 for an on/off distortion, think what you're getting with this. A 128 channel pre-amp.
  24. Please feel free to. I'm a man of my word.
