1.
You need another 22 basses then
Don't you start, I get enough crap from band mates for bringing two.
  2. FWIW, I haven't had any problem with it, its just an ebay page.
  3. your basses might be worth a bit then maybe?
  4.
That's how the car industry maintained its outrageously high prices in the UK for so many years. It doesn't actually cost a distributor anything to fix a product under warranty - they charge it back to the manufacturer. And if what you say about EBS is true, it's illegal under EU law. Why should anyone buy new gear from Europe if the UK distributor is offering a good deal?
I had this experience with Warwick and being let down by MAD Distribution ten years ago even though the German bought amp was covered by an international warranty AND WASN'T FITTED WITH A THERMOSTAT before it left the factory. Excuse me? Quality control anyone? It was a particularly upsetting because I ended up being screamed at down the phone by their subcontracted electronics engineer because MAD hadn't told him that the amp was still under guarantee and I refused to pay him. Even now I haven't forgotten that experience and I cheered out loud when I heard they went under. I complained about the behaviour of their engineer and basically MAD didn't want to know. Said it was a "personality" thing between me and him and they didn't want to get involved. This was despite the fact I was supposed to be a Warwick customer!! In fact my one regret from the whole affair was that I didn't tear a strip off MAD in return. I was far too reasonable and understanding.
  5.
If I wanted to have 2 basses plugged in at the same time I would get one of these.
I have a 24 channel 1u rack mixer that takes care of all that right now.
  6. What I'm interested in with the Hevos gear is the twin power amps of the 800D which also offers 2ohm loading and a pre/power amp in a 1u rack mountable package. If it had twin inputs for 2 basses like the Eden WT1205 I'd be 90% happy (pending gig testing). Bit pricey with the Euro at its current rate though.
  7. Don't forget there ARE alternatives to Genz Benz too But alternatives that are difficult to try out in the UK perhaps.
  8. I'm wondering how do Hevos and Genz Benz compare?
  9. blimey, only tried one of these on Thursday. Any price?
  10. Looks great when I turn my monitor on its side!
  11.
£410 with over a week to go!
Might as well buy one new at that price and have better peace of mind.
  12.
I'm still wondering if it's a sensitivity issue. If the S1 is, as people have suggested, a parallel to series switch, then maybe one position is too sensitive for the preamp?
It could be an impedance issue. Installing a preamp with input buffers could help maybe? Chat to John East too on his BC affiliates forum.
  13. just got in from a gig at a hotel just outside Haslemere. Crowd appeared to be mostly irish and many styles of dancing were observed. Some were even recognisable. Then as we went back to our dressing room to cool off and stock up on fluids the crowd decided they'd have a go at providing their own entertainment and before we knew it they'd started up on our singers mics themselves and borrowed some of our percussionists tambourines. Our percussionist confiscated them all in case they got broken and then distracted them by singing a sad jewish song in hebrew just to chill them out. Sound man wasn't in a good mood because a group of girls had been individually bugging him all night to let them sing a jazz song and while we were offstage, they were using our PA without asking first. We didn't know the song ourselves then it turns out neither did the girls! We let them have about 8 or 10 drunken Irish classics while we packed up around them and then the sound man switched off the PA so we could case it and load it up. After belting out "Rose of Tralee" unamplified, the crowd started to disperse and we could get on with the load up. I took the V8 and EBS 212Neo along with the Smith and Cutlass II. Percussionist loves me bringing the EBS cab so I'm looking forward to seeing how it works with one of the Genz Benz Shuttle heads at some point.
  14. yeah, I'm getting by OK all things considered. Good to see you're still logging on here occasionally too mate
  15.
No worries - do you know what the S1 does on a Fender P Bass?
I was told by a sales person it would make me grow bigger breasts, have smoother blemish-free skin, remove cellulite, help me lose 10kg, make me look good in a little black dress and endow me with an overwhelming sense of well being.
  16.
The new T-bass P****s all over the Lodestone
and there's a story connecting both so I've heard. But back OT

Blimey, I should really add mine to this too. Paul was the mystery buyer of one of my instruments, lovely chap and apparently still a happy customer which is all I could hope for.
  18. This is one of those items I feel an impulsive urge to purchase even though I don't actually have any real need for it.
  19.
Thanks CK but no - that thread is about getting into doing theatre work - I have a specific problem with the gig I'm currently doing - just wondered if any of the more technically minded out there had a good suggestions that might help resolve the issues discribed above... Thanks anyway...
Bugger, sorry for not reading your post more thoroughly. I should know better.
  20.
Did you actually try the shuttle 6? all the reviews have been very positive but it would be nice to hear an opinion from closer to home.
No, they're not due in for a couple of weeks according to Mark. However the preamp/eq section in the NeoPak is apparently almost identical (and thats the main thing for me with hybrid heads).
  21. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=17227 Is this likely to be of any help?
  22. Thats Number 5!
  23.
Shh, if they read this, they'll probably start full scale production in a week on tuesday. Stop giving them ideas to expand their current range of essentially 5 instruments.
And charge maybe £2500 a bass because all the scratches and dents have been lovingly hand crafted using an original New York yellow cab driven carefully and precisely by one of Fenders master craftsmen? Workmanship and attention to detail like that doesn't come cheap.
  24.
On the way Steve - I suggest you come and try the Shuttles against the MB LMII and F1 as there are subtle yet distinct differences. Ask CrazyKiwi - we have spent a couple of hours with a LMII, F1 and a Genz Benz Neo Pak that I believe will sound similar to the Shutlle and has the same eq, tone pre-sets etc. It most most enlightening :-) Let me know if I can help you further. Mark
We did. I was impressed with all the amps we tried through a Berg 4x10 neo. The F1 and Little Mark didn't show any of that characteristic rubber bandyness that I've come to expect from MarkBass (perhaps because I've only ever tried combos and heads with their cabs in the past). The F1 in particular was a marvel. Quite warm sounding and all from such a tiny package. Great for any player who plays one or two basses at the most and doesn't want to be bothered with a lot of knob twiddling. However I liked the Genz Benz NeoPak 3.0, particularly because it was the first hybrid head I've ever tried where the sound WASN'T scooped. My Smith sounded firm, punchy and clean, everything I had been looking for in a solid state head. However it didn't sound as aggressively biting in the treble as my GK combo. I personally preferred the firmer, focussed sound of the Genz Benz over the Mark Bass but would prefer something in a smaller package. So once the Shuttles come in, I'll be back up there with my EBS cab. The sound of the Berg IP 3x10 cab was remarkably sweet as well. Not brittle at all. Although my first impressions were that it wasn't aggressive enough for live use in my band, I'm still not going to write it off yet. Maybe I'll bring my Lexicon MPXG2 too and see how it deals with a solid state preamp.
