Last night was great, our first wedding of the year at The Copthorne Hotel near Gatwick. It was for one of our dep drummers, I made a few daft mistakes, but I don't think anyone but me noticed - really must up the practice sessions during the week. It was easily the best gig we've done for ages, a real contrast to the pubs and social clubs, and the reason for that is simple: people were up for it. We had dancers from the first song and the dance floor was never empty all night; people enjoying themselves really feeds-back into your performance and then everyone has a better time
I haven't been to Hyde Park today. I'm very sad about that . Glad you had a good time though.
+1 Would absolutely love to see Sabbath and Faith No More again.

Friday night Naked Bass were at a pub in town we've not done before, we're mostly from East Grinstead and used to do The Crow's Nest exclusively, but since they've halved the number of live music nights they have we've started looking at other venues. Turnout was good, but not quite as busy as we'd hoped, might be some people haven't been paid yet, but we're back on the first of August which I hope will be better. The "stage area" lead to a slightly odd layout, but seemed to work okay: [Img]https://fbcdn-photos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/t1.0-0/10407596_10152451263505589_2507224043062937683_n.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> Saturday was a birthday party for a couple who's wedding we played two years ago, had a dep drummer who we've not used before, but he was great. Due to the layout of the pub, and the hog/lamb roast being on the first set was a bit muted, but by the second set when they had a few more drinks in them the punters loved it. The husband of the birthday girl was up giving it large though and really helped to get people on the dance floor.

A punter this evening said he enjoyed my bass face, I think it was a compliment

I'd recommend it TheGreek, the balanced tension set I got recently is great. -
Anyone actually know what Necuron 840 is?

Look into the threads about the Barefaced Big Twin 2 as an alternative to the Orange cabs, may do what you're after.

Last night was Naked Bass at The Red Cross Inn at Reigate, didn't start brilliantly, but ended well. The pub originally wanted us on from 8 - 10:30 with a break, but the landlord had forgotten the Uruguay game before the England match, so the place was pretty empty at 8 and those there weren't up for a band. So we changed the plan to play from 9 -10:30 and play through without a break, we ended up starting at about 8:50 and playing to 10:45, so they got nearly two hours of continuous music from us. Crowd was pretty sparse to begin with, but picked up later on, and was rammed for the last half hour / forty five minutes. We played really well and despite some feedback issues from the singer's moniter, put on a good show; people seemed really happy at the end, though of course, this was pre-match. The venue had originally wanted us to pack up during the first half and then get the gear out during half-time, however we spotted a window we could get everything through, so got off earlier. I was amazed by my moulded hearing protection as well, everything sounded great during the gig and just like sound check, only quieter; what really surprised me was after we'd finished and the football chants had started, I couldn't believe how loud it was in there.

Love it, especially the pickguard and headstock decal

Yes, that's awesome, I love the intro to Come Out Swinging too

Friday I'd watch, Offspring, Flogging Molly, Opeth (who clash with Offspring), Anathema, Rival Sons and that's about it. I've just remembered Pretty Fly was one of the first songs I worked out by ear, I was so proud when I got it right

Gen 1/2 Compacts go for between £300 - £400 used, I think one of those would do you fine as it's what I use in a similar situation Where are you based? You'd be welcome to give mine a go if your local.

There's not a lot that appeals to me at Download this year, and most of what does clashes with something else, however I am a bit jealous that they're playing Smash in it's entirety.

The sun is shining, so it's come round to that time of year when I dig out my Offpring, Operation Ivy, Less Than Jake and Capdown records. I've had The Offspring on pretty heavy rotation the last couple of days, and it's (finally) hit home how good Greg K is, his tone and feel are great, never does anything flashy - just anchors the songs together and drives it along; also seems to be able to handle anything thrown at him. His personality, both in playing and live performance always seems quite subdued and shy, which is probably why it's taken years of listening to the band and writing him off as a player for me to finally realise how important to the sound he is.

I think Fieldy tunes to ADGCF

I had two of these - the earlier model without the chambered body and would happily have another if I was going back to 5-strings, enjoy! The white is quite sexy too.

Cheers for that, had a look at the Behringer VAmp bass, and that looks like it'll fit the bill

Does anyone know if any generation of the bass pod has an aux-in so I can play along with the output of my phone? My current practice set-up is my pedalboard into a small mixer and if I can simplify down to one box that gets me a decent tone on headphones and has a tuner built into it so I don't have to drag a load of stuff out every time I want to practice that'd be great. If the Line 6 doesn't have that feature, does anyone know of something that does? Cheers
