  1. If this is Parcelforce, don't wait for them to write to you and tell you they're expecting a payment - log it as a support job and they will email you the link. I had this with Ducati spares, it took them 7 days to get around to telling me the items were awaiting customs payment.
  2. Has an old Fender ever been refinished to sunburst? I was under the impression they were always either stripped back to the wood or refinished in a solid colour.
  3. I can't - can I borrow a couple of yours?
  4. Ed Sheeran and Elton at Watford vs Ipswich Town?
  5. "He said "for coal", m'lud." "Funny, could have sworn his lips were moving."
  6. Frivolous? That means a guitar, or something not bass-related then. I'd go for one of these. I've no idea how they can produce this for less than 200 quid. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_custom_line_n_150ce_natural.htm?glp=1&gad_source=1
  7. I had a Shadow banjo system for a while and the controller for that was flimsy too. I have had several instruments fitted with various types of KK Sound pickups, and all of them have worked flawlessly wirhout exception. The K&K Definity is apparently discontinued which is a shame because it looks interesting - I guess it didn't perform very well. I'd be inclined to try a K&K Big Twin , either with the sensors attached to the bridge, the same way that they do for the Double Big Twin double bass set up, or with the two sensors under the bridge foot.
  8. Just as well it's in Africa, otherwise I'd be tempted to hunt the seller down and apply a belt sander to , oh use your imaginations!
  9. I wouldn't bother fixing it, all they do is hiss and fizz. The sstock crossover is something like 3.5KHz. I modded mine to bypass it altogether.
  10. I've played for the Harley Riders Club of GB a couple of times at their rally on Mersea Island. I think we got £300 for a 6 piece band, that included a round trip of about 50 miles and setting up our own PA. They're a great crowd , very enthusiastic. At that time I think they did their own organisation. It now looks as though they've outsourced it.
  11. Not sure about the modal bit, but triple C is gCGCC .
  12. If you already have a recorder like a Zoom H4 , you could use that as a kind of mixer. The built-in mikes will pick up ambient sound, the input sockets will take a feed from your bass and an aux out from the desk, and you can plug in a set of ZS10s to the headphone socket.
  13. Sadowsky use different pickup lengths. Some are standard Fender Jazz (100mm neck, 104mm bridge) but many Sadowsky basses use a pair of 95mm length. You need to make sure you get the right set for the RSD. 95mm sets are available from Delano, not sure about other vendors. They come up second-hand on this forum occasionally.
  14. Sorry, I'm a folk musician so all I can do is sing a song about how great the old boiler was.
  15. I think this will be the normal state of affairs for Concert bands, Wind Bands, Brass Bands and amateur orchestras.
  16. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  17. If you can find a used Dave Hall Amps VTI-EQ-Bass Drive I reckon that would be an improvement, and would also do the DI function. Something with a valve in it, anyway.
  18. I have a copy of the manual for this pedal. PM me your email address and I'll send you a copy. Mined Ewe there isn't much in there that @SumOne hasn't already covered.
  19. Bass Gallery charge 15% on commission sales, so the vendor would have recieved £4250.
  20. If the US artist or the tour company are going to put you on a company payroll, you'll end up paying tax through that, with zero allowance so the whole lot will be taxed. If not, you'll probably need to set up either a limited company or a limited liability partnership , invoice the tour management, pay yourself a minimum wage and or dividend and submit that income via self-assessment.
  21. @Dood has another dodge which I found useful - use a Zoom H4N to mix ambient noise, monitor signal and mic/instrument and deliver to earbuds via the headphone out.
  22. @theplumber you should change the thread title, since this is clearly nothing to do with a scam on basschat and it makes precisely no difference to whether it is safe to use the marketplace here or not.
  23. There's a review of the predecessor, the CUBE-100 bass linked above. I'd say it's a huge improvement on what you have now, the only reservation is that it's probably more than you need. They seem to go through the Bay occasionally for around the £120 mark second-hand so I wouldn't want to pay much more than that. In my experience Roland gear is high-quality and good value for what it costs. I have an amp (not this one), a piano and an accordion and all have given years of service.
  24. Had a look in my bits box but I don't have a spare one of these. You could try asking in the DIY Effects thread if anybody has one they could send you - 5 quid postage for an 8p capacitor seems a bit off.
