1. There are a couple of good sites round my way on facebook that are very active and I have sold quite a bit on it ( 5 string bass, PA system, Electronic drum kit, Effects unit etc ) and by the very nature of it they are relatively local people so they collect and pay with no fees so much better than ebay etc
2. Could also go half measures as well and do a normal set and then a dr feel good set ( think dr Dave's band may do this with his zz top tribute )
3. Rod Stewart at the MEN in Manchester last night and what an amazing gig. Love him or hate him he totally exceeded my expectations and entertained a packed arena for two hours. Plenty volume but heard every note despite sitting in the same area that I sat in for rush a couple of weeks ago ( more volume but no clarity ) Last song of the night was Stay With Me which was a total surprise ( one of the favourites in my bands repertoire ) and they rocked Yes there was a bit of cheese but 12000 people singing all night can't be wrong. Well worth the money and definitely do it again.
4.
I can recommend internet dating. It does work. You need to fish though a few "frogs", but there are nice ladies out there. Trust me, I was 50 when I became single again. You can also look out for people's interests, and declare your interest in playing music. If they don't like it, avoid them. There IS someone out there who'll love you for it. That's that way I met my Mrs G who's with me now. Rich
Guess that would also be a big plus one from me http://basschat.co.uk/topic/208874-girlfriend-proposed-to-me-last-night-what-an-amazing-evening/
5. Just seen this and really think that as a community it could have been handled much better. The guy comes to a bass guitar forum looking for a bass guitarist He has a couple of criteria that he is looking for and seems to have been shot down in flames Every advert I have seen has had criteria in it ( image, male, female, age, location, ability, influences etc etc etc ) Give the guy a chance !! Someone on here may have perfectly fit the bill and now it looks like its too late !!
6. Just a minor comment but wouldn't it be better if those lights were on the band not the audience ??
7. Saturday night at Appletreewick village hall. Excellent stage and potentially great venue but no one really there to set the venue out properly so by the time we went on most people were hanging by the bar at the back with the only table put out the one I did so we could sit at after sound check. By the end of our first set it was dark in the hall with the only lighting our stage lighting until a guy eventually decided to switch on a few lights. Good gig but the ambience ( which I believe is very important to any venue ) has potential to be much better.
8. I thought Later was pre recorded so we may get Rush in a week or two ( copious amounts of wishful thinking going on here )
9. I just think that they should notch it back a little and let's hear the three instruments. It's impossible to totally recreate the album sounds so let's just hear clearly three excellent musicians playing in unison.
10.
Could have happily lived without the encore numbers though - I really don't need to hear YYZ, Tom Sawyer & a truncated 2112 ever again to be honest - would have preferred to hear some more stuff from Power Windows or Grace Under Pressure. All in all that was the best I've seen them since the "Roll the Bones" tour - f***ing brilliant gig!
LOL how different are we all. Absolutely loved YYZ, Tom Sawyer and 2112 and thought the best gig ever was Time Machine.
11. Saw them a few years ago at Lansdowne Road in Dublin. Great songs played and sung brilliantly but far too quiet which is the only ever time I have known that at a gig.
12. I think it's a fabulous thought and just hope someone on thd forum has the right contacts to make something happen
13.
I could have bloody walked there.
So could I ( but it would have taken around 50 hours by my calculations )
14. Glad it's not just me that thinks that these big bands just try to be too loud. When they are flat out I can hardly hear a single instrument but rather just a huge amount of noise. Turn it down a couple of notches guys and lets hear the music as it is on the albums !! When the live album and DVD comes out the sound quality may not be perfect but it will be far far better than at the gig ( and a damn site cheaper )
15. I'm a huge Rush fan and was at the Manchester gig and really enjoyed the event BUT I thought the sound was relatively poor for a band who can afford the very best. If I am honest I just think that like so many other bands they just crank it up too loud and it becomes too boomy in these huge places. Also think, and this is just my personal taste, that the first set was too much Power Windows era based and should have been more pre Moving Pictures. No issue with lots of Clockwork Angels in the second set as they are bound to want to promote the latest album and the encore........awesome !!!
16. I really cant afford it and agree that the prices are getting silly Not really got in to the albums since Moving Pictures But I am so revved to see them again. I thought the last tour was very entertaining and lets be honest they cant keep going with these world tours forever can they.
17.
LOL nope! All original material.
I think the earlier comment about the cars was a reference to one of their popular songs lol
18. Heard lots of good things about these. Mmmmmm tempting
19. Best musical one I have seen that was worn by a local bassist was "667, Neighbour of the Beast"
