I can't comment on the Bongo but I bought a U.S. P Deluxe back in 96 and just love it. Such a very versatile instrument.

SMB turned up on time, no fuss, no drama. True gent to deal with.

So saddened by this news. He was a total gent.

gary mac replied to DF Shortscale's topic in Repairs and Technical
Friend of mine in Hertford does a good job. Can put you in touch, just let me know. -

Re-fret for an early '70s Rickenbacker
gary mac replied to Richard R's topic in Repairs and Technical
I wouldn’t refret a Ric for £200. For that job £400 is much more realistic. -

Bass Sleeve is a great product. I've used one for a good few years now and it's still as good as new.

NBD - Fender Hama Okamoto signature Precision

Love the dark, rich looking fretboard timber Michael, lovely. -
I've had one for the last ten years or so and consider it a brilliant bit of kit. I haven't used the distortion regularly but when needed I felt that it was great.

Is that the Stotfold one Tim? We've played that one a few times.

I would be wary about leaving a van load of gear in a Travel Lodge car park. A fair few bands have learnt the hard way, doing just that.

Bass ‘choking’ in the upper register
gary mac replied to Bass Wielder's topic in Repairs and Technical
I would first check the frets. I suspect that there are a few high/unlevel ones. Almost every instrument that I get to work on, needs fret work. -
Perfectly understandable, really feel for you. Hope you get your enthusiasm back if that's what you need.

Pete was a pleasure to deal with. Comms were great and an expert bit of packing/wrapping, ensured a safe delivery. Very happy to recommend.

I've not had a listen but it's got to be better than Eric Cantona's new release

Cheers Jack. Some of the Stax Northern Soul tunes are total crackers and real favourites of mine.

Yes The Bass Centre was always a visit to savour.

My first gig tonight since getting hit by covid a few weeks back. Standing is still proving a challenge. The Village Club. Stanstead Abbotts. Herts.
-
No, if it's a high fret then it will need either filing down or reseating, if it has lifted.

Illness Has Stopped Me Gigging Temporarily
gary mac replied to Chienmortbb's topic in General Discussion
Struggling at the moment. Covid hit me hard about two weeks back. Still can't stand for more than a few minutes. Fortunately my band were able to get a dep to replace me for a couple of gigs last week. Next gig is the 16th of this month, so I'm hoping to be fit enough for that but not overly confident
