1.
Mine neither.(Indonesia)And neither does it have that routing under the pickguard.I can use mine with the PG off just fine. All there is is a slightly larger than usual/necessary cutout for the neck pickup.
Yes I managed to miss that very obvious difference. Maybe Chinese ones end up in the states and we get the Indonesian ones.
2. Good group of pics. I didn't realise they were crafted in China these days, mine wasn't.
3. Tough decision for you. Hope things improve and that you can get yourselves back on track. All the best, Gary
4. Usually I'm not overly keen on black basses, but really like this one. Good camera work as well.
5. I remember having serious Gas attacks when this range first came out. Never actually got one and too old and feeble to even think about lugging one about these days. Good kit and I don't think it received the recognition it should have had. Good luck with your sale.
6. I love the look just about all of them.
7. Now that's what I call a proper vintage instrument. So much cooler than one of those young upstart Fenders
8. Maybe it's cos you take along an 8 string Warmouth explorer
9.
what channel was this on? wonder if its on BBC I Player
ITV 1 old chap
10. Haven't got a clue, but respect if you have managed to lift that in out of a car. My back aches just looking at it, but I do love the old Trace gear.
11. Well done on a great post, such a trip down memory lane for me, seeing all this kit.
12. A week on from my last bump, so it's time for another one.
13. Thanks for the link, I want them both. My recent SB1 purchase has cured me of Gas for any other make of instrument. Even been thinking of selling my old yamaha and wal, but maybe I shouldn't be too hasty.
14. It does look rather splendid. Sort of thing I would like if I was able to lift it. Being an old codger I will have to stick with my Mark Bass
15. Looking good.
16. What about another wizard.
17. As Bubinga said, try the Dr Highbeams I just purchased a P type bass and the previous owner kindly stuck a set on just before selling it to me. I was hoping I wouldn't like them as they are quite costly, but I love em.
18. Too loud can be so tedious. Tight and powerful, now that's a different thing altogether and when the two meet, it's a wondrous thing. If you don't like it, leave them to it. Life's too short, although it can feel too long if you end with the wrong people, doing something you hate.
19. A handsome beast, very nice.
20. I love a Wal bass, but too rich for me, so I'm out. Would like to see the pics though. Good luck
21. Thanks chaps, it's finally sorted. Got on to Andy at Wizard. Turned out they were wired incorrectly. I've sorted it with a bit of swapping and soldering. Frustrating job all in all, but Andy couldn't have been more apologetic and immediately offered to have them back. Hope my daughter likes the end result. I thought they sounded very good, although only tried the bass through my little practice amp.
22.
It could well be that one of the pups has been wired the oposite fo the other, like you have said. Have you checked that both pups are wired in phase. when i put my wizards in to my HW-one i only put the neck one in to start with. I went with white to white, black to black, as per the stock pups. Either pup worked fine but there was a huge drop in volume when both were on full. I just reversed the leads on the wizard and all was fine. It might be worth a try.
Thanks Dave. Probably a dumb question, but how do I check they are wired in phase? Is it just a case of the white and black cables coming off the same sides on both pups. I stupidly told my daughter I'd have this job done double quick
23. This is getting very frustrating. One of my solder joints wasn't good, so I've redone it today. Still got the problem, I'm sure it's something fairly basic, but can't think what. Bridge pick up works fine on it's own, as does the neck pickup. But when opting to dial in both pups I have to turn the bridge pup knob the wrong way to achieve full volume. I'm sure I've put everything back the way it was with the original pups, so is it possible that the pickup wires have been soldered up the wrong way round by wizard. I know it's not likely, but just a thought. Some help would be hugely appreciated, so that I can maintain hero status with my daughter. Thanks Gary
24.
Well, my old pots used a screw too; but they were split shaft pots and those shafts were much narrower. I feel like these are definitely an upgrade though, so I'm happy. Just need some knobs to fit the new girth
Why is it that the word girth makes me smirk everytime?
25.
Ok, so I worked out the Orange drop thing and have finished the job. All is well, apart from the fact that the knurled chrome knobs that I had on the old pots don't fit on these new CTS solid shafts The CTS are much wider. Can anyone suggest some replacements that will fit these shafts? I was of the opinion that all shafts were the same thickness but I've been proved wrong, so new knobs needed!
That's a bummer, guess you needed the split shaft pots then. So I suppose you must now need the type of knobs that utilise a grub screw. Don't think I'm the right person to offer advice though, I've just installed new pups in my daughters jazz and now getting problems with the pots
