1. I've spent sometime today giving my Wal Pro 1 four string a spring clean and polish. Found myself getting increasingly irritated by a past owners heavy handedness. He has managed to burr a number of screws to the bridge and used all sorts of odd screws to replace what he's lost or damaged. Some of the screws are black cross heads, some are chrome and some are slotted, it's a right old mish mash. Can any of you Wal owners/enthusiasts tell me what screws would have been used originally? The bridge is finished in black. Thanks in advance. Gary.
2. I tend to think the wait twenty four hours thing is nonsense.
3. Thanks Nick. So glad that I spotted your ad for the body. I've just bought a set of U.S. pups off of Cd_David, from whom you bought the body I believe.
4. Well done, glad you enjoyed.
5. I was going to be diplomatic, but I can't. That's just totally orrid.
6. Don't be afraid, it's a reasonably easy job. Just take your time. Up until fairly recently I had never adjusted a truss rod or done a set up, but I've recently really got into it and have now done most of my basses. There's a whole load of info on line. I can thoroughly recommend the Haynes Fender manual, I seem to refer to it most days.
7. Firstly, I would say take your time and enjoy the process. Don't rush in and also be aware that your tastes might change as you mature, so it might be quite a challenge to get it right. Having said that I've never gone down the custom route, so maybe shouldn't be replying to you. There plenty of users who have and I'm sure they will be along soon. Gary.
8. Welcome and good luck with the sale. I'm not in the market for another P bass at the mo, but that is very tempting, well it would be if I had the dosh. all the best, Gary
9. That looks like a good find, very nice, now get out there and gig it.

Good luck with the move Ped, hope it's not too traumatic and stressful. All the best, Gary
11. A final bump before considering EBay make me an offer
12.
Don't worry about the set... worry about your gear and your health! I don't believe a drop in power will cause damage but spikes would. Also find out about earth issues. I think you are OK without and earth if everything you can touch is powered from that one generator. Get the organisers to guarantee the quality of power supply and don't do the gig if they won't.
Absolutely spot on.
13. Thank you for the kind words chaps. (Why haven't we got a bashful smiley?)
14. Nice one Nick, that'll look and sound just right with the mod band.
15. Have a marvelous birthday John. The cake looks brilliant, she's a talented girl. All the best, Gary
16. Thanks for the warning. I will warn my daughter, as she visits Bass masta a fair bit, even though I've told her that most of the tabs on there are not very accurate.
17. It went to a good home though. Have another bump
18. Nice, you've certainly owned some splendid instruments.
19. I keep looking at this thread as I'm missing mine, even though it's only a few weeks since I sold it. These old Yamahas are cracking basses.
20. Very nice job and a good read.
21. Got myself a new neck plate from the states for a bargain price. Got it engraved yesterday with my initials and birth date. Fitted it this morning along with a nice new set of DR Highbeams. This bass has turned out so well and was a really worthwhile project for the winter months. Looking forward to gigging it.
22.
Hmmm winter is nearly over I'm sure you can get kindling from the local garage
Harsh
23. A good luck with the sale bump Noel. That's lovely and all original.
24. Played a short set at Hertford Corn Exchange last night. Bit of a nerve wracking one, but that actually made it all the more enjoyable. Met the guitarist/singer for the very first time just ten minutes before playing. We had a quick chat decided on six numbers, tuned up and straight in to it. It was surprisingly ok, a few mistakes but nothing that derailed things too badly, I got slightly lost in the solo of Take it Easy and forgot to the change to D in Use Somebody. Probably the musos in the audience noticed but the hundred or so dancing punters probably didn't. The sound man at the desk was a bit caught out by my G&L, the sound levels had been set for the previous band whose bassist was playing a fender jazz (a very nice one), the G&L although also a passive bass, is just so loud. It was a treat playing with proper monitors and some decent lighting, all in all most enjoyable and makes me realise that I must get out gigging more.
