  1. Nice! What are it's specs? Interested to learn how it's so light. Looks ace.
  2. Thankfully he was saved by the funk. "Free Your Mind And Your A$$ Will Follow..." ✊️
  3. A method I find useful is to listen to the tracks without a bass in hand and once familiar to what's going on in the tune, "sing" or scat along a bass part. It's more freeing, intuitive and rarely wrong. When you feel like you're finding you're way, record yourself doing this along with the track, then learn what you've sung. If you can sing it you can play it.
  4. First gig at sixteen, playing a fiver and on the mic (singing?)...🤯 ...and the world was hers.
  5. Those that have a Palmaris Longus tendon are more prone to Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.
  6. Tim Commerford from RATM likes Jazz basses with Precision necks. He winds his own pickups for them too. Respec'!
  7. I disagree. I saw the Stone Roses at Heaton Park in 2012 and they had the balloted area then. Although I didn't get into the front bit I was still plenty close enough. Dividing the front area off with another barrier was a smart move to stop anyone getting crushed up front. Even more so for Oasis. The media will write about anything to give it the doom angle. My tuppence worth anyway...
  8. Good choice of bass @nilorius 👍
  9. It's funny because it's not a motorbike. Yamaha and that...
  10. ...I'll let you know after mine starts! 😄
  11. There's far better and cheaper options on the Ebay mod shop 😉
  12. Unfortunately the only healthy thing you can do is turn your back on the situation and look towards your next opportunity with people who hopefully will have more professionalism and higher moral standards.
  13. Enjoy your time off the road. 57 years of making countless people happy as they took some time out from their day-to-day is a hell of a contribution by any standards. Hats off! I hope you continue to play and keep at least yourself happy now. 👏
  14. Keep It Greasy - Frank Zappa (1984 band live version). Doing ok so far, pick skills being honed along the way, but it's going to take some time to get it at full tempo...
  15. Totally agree regarding that line up. I was lucky to see them play on the old Jazz stage at Glastonbury '93. They were on just before The James Taylor Quartet who headlined. I danced a lot that day! Nick Van Gelder left to form Akimbo with Simon Bartholomew from The Brand New Heavies. Loved his drumming with the early Ozrics too 👌
  16. Anyway, Stuart Zender... coolest of cats, supernatural talent so young.
  17. I'd like another Jazz Bass at some point. I used to have one but it didn't speak to me. I realise now that I didn't understand the nuances of how to dial in the pickups for different sounds/occasions - user error. This SBL vid is what has piqued my interest again... @17.40
  18. How could we forget?
  19. How Soon Is Cow? - The Smiths
  20. We should all take BC out for it's first legal pint 😄
  21. 😂 great stuff! In possible defence of the seller - During my yoof, while giving being an active musician in London a go, I used to sleep on a mattress on the floor in a shared flat. We also used to sit on 2 army mattresses in the lounge because we didn't have any furniture. I may have been living on packets of pasta n sauce but I did have a '78 Rickenbacker and an '86 Stingray! Happy days living like the Young Ones... Could be a similar story, could be BS.
  22. My Sonic P arrived today. Overall I'm pleased with it as the modding platform I wanted and it's certainly a real step up from the Harley Benton I'm sending back. However I will have to do a number on the fret ends as they are all skin-slicer sharp. I guess it's a crapshoot at this price point. It'll be a killer bass when I'm done though. I love the neck profile especially. I will weigh it eventually but so far I can say that it's nice and light and well balanced.
  23. I've got a black Sonic P on it's way to me this week. I hatched a plan to buy a cheap P to put all the decent P bits and bobs that I've accumulated over the years on. I bought a Harley Benton pB-20 bk but that's going back. Too much finishing off work than I can be bothered with plus I didn't get on with the forearm contour anyway. Hopefully my Sonic will be as light and straight as all yours here 🤞 Will do a nbd when all is good. Great info on this thread, thanks!
